A perfect analysis of the world malaise TBW. Fines are baked in to the business plans of Governments both local and national, although they never admit that, so when they are "Too affective" they have to come up with even more rules and laws with ever more decreasing compliancy boundaries. Technological Tyranny is now here, as you say,. "Obeying" these laws on mass would just mean they have to unleash new ones, until failing to brush ones teeth in the morning or spreading too much butter on your toast will incur deductions from our digital citizen credit account.

Thanks Dave - very thought provoking as usual. The irony is that when motorcycles first came on the scene, for most people, the barrier was the cost of the machine itself. I think we're heading towards a future where the barriers to our freedom to ride will be the cost of everything else BUT the bike. Fuel and other running costs. Taxes, insurance etc. We might even be prevented from performing our own maintenance and repairs due to restrictions on the sale of spares etc. Those anti-tampering laws have gone a bit quiet but I fear there'll be a fresh impetus in the near future too.

Hi. It's very possible. Looking what they've done during C19 (covicovi) or what happened in London, people beying forced to take the cars to scrap. It's disgusting and horrible. I can easily think they are preparing something because they know people will comply because of fear. Fear of remaining without some wright's.

It's getting out of hand on all levels. I drove to West Virginia yesterday to pickup shoes for my daughter. It was a nice day and thought I'd stop by Harper's Ferry to sit on a rock but the river. All the public parking was no longer there. I managed to find a small parking lot within walking distance but was shocked by a sign that said it's a $20 fee per car for entrance. Anyway this area used to be a gathering place for families to enjoy the outdoors together once upon a time, I guess it's a Disney like tourist destination now :/ I can't ride right now because I'm recovering from a dirt bike crash and really needed that rock.

Absolutely spot on Dave. They have gone down the technology route which as you say targets everyone. The criminal road user who actually needs to be caught will just have a pool vehicle or a cloned vehicle to avoid being traced, as usual the responsible majority of non habitual offenders will be forced to pay up via further threats of more fines /imprisonment etc. At least when we had a decent traffic department and dedicated motorway unit the right people could be targeted and dealt with , ID confirmed , proper checks etc. They obviously prefer the massive revenue generated by technology instead of investing in humans who have discretion and the ability to focus on the real problem drivers/ riders. Like you say there is a whole industry involved from the debt collectors to the providers of the crappy speed awareness courses given by civilians who don't really know what they are talking about ( I know this from the experience of doing an online one, total waste of time) I am also convinced that the lack of proper action regarding our crumbling roads is deliberate, another way of taking away any enjoyment that is left.

Apart from some old vehicles of low value I own nothing. It took me 2 divorces to understand I am better off alone. I have very few fears and absolutely no greed. I moved to the country site many years ago, you could see where cities were/are moving to. And I understand their move. I get on one of my old bikes @ 4 am (really) and ride to work, happily. I learned that poem when i was in 6th grade in public school, it's always been my favourite, you're the only person ever in my life to cite that wonderful nonsence poem & that's been well over 60 yrs. Thanks for the video, excellent as usual. When the world has finally reached that caging up totally of human kind, i thankfully will no longer have to deal with it. I'd love to stay forever riding out to nowhere but not under the circumstances which you talk about in your video. I believe to an extent in laws to keep society safe & on an even keel, but when laws become too numerous just for the sake of making life more difficult i think it only justified to buck the system in a peaceful but determined manner. Thanks again, keep on riding & enjoying those wonderful places with which you have been so blessed, bye now, ric ontario canada, freedom is lifes' blood, without it we shrivel & die on the vine.

The raison d'etre of Parliament is to make laws, therefore it follows that they enact more laws. From a parlimentary perspective it matters not at all if those laws are to the detriment of the population. Indeed, there is a school of thought which maintains that repression is actually a good thing, as it brings about a compliant and subserviant population. It's a perspective that's worked well for dictators down the ages. As a former military man I used to uphold the dictates of the establishment and indeed respected those bodies. Sadly, nearly 80 years of personal experience has led me to the cynical point of view that none of the politicians have the well-being of the populus at heart and that they are instead focused entirely on giving themselves ever-greater power. Corrupt politicians; 'twas ever thus.

Pertinent content, well presented. With very little research, consulting multiple reliable sources and certainly not MSM, one can reasonably conclude that a two tier Policing model exists in the Met. This is a truly frightening development. The dangers and consequences of this Policing model are never more evident than the now weekly riots in London and what happened in Parliament early last week. This of course will spread country wide in the near future. I wish I was like the vast majority of folk in this land; that I was totally ignorant of the future our Political masters have planned for us plebs. All the more reason to get on our bikes and ride as often as we can. Escaping to beautiful countryside if possible. And for a short while at least pretend that everything is well in Blighty and our riding, public safety, our future and our democracy is safe and assured. Or to put it another way; revel in denial. Like an ostrich, put our head in the sand and say I cannot see the threat, therefore it cannot see me. It’s a shame that the vile business of politics sullies motorcycle you tube channel’s. But, vile politics is a direct threat to the continuation of our sport and way of life. This is why I ride; to forget for a short while at least, that we no longer have a future.

And also some more enticing Yorkshire scenery to tempt me down this year. My country framed itself on limited government. We have become the absolute antithesis of that framework our founders were careful to protect us from in limiting powers, and more so, we have those who not only don’t care, but take pride in bigger and more intrusive government because it doesn’t yet affect them personally, until of course it does, and then it is too late.

Solid job on the video there fella. Started riding in 1966 just caught the tail end of Mods & Rockers Yea lets shut all the cafes down gotta stop them hooligans drinking coffee eh then being refused entry into pubs So I did get a little cynical lets say so then on through a Back patch club. Much later in life was out with a very wealthy friend on our bikes stopped at a pub Sorry no Bikers. Was in the place earlier in the week in his Bentley same persons but oh no Yet that same Pub is now years later is advertising for Bikers nights as are many other previously forbidden establishments . Well they can piss up a rope as far as I'm concerned. And now at near 74 years of age and still riding (and no my Harley Street glide is not too heavy😀) I now see division in the bike scene amongst those that have come later ,,,what was that Rolling Stone lyric ah yes "He cant be a man cos he doesn't smoke the same cigarettes as me" For us old farts its changed but for those that come later (if any) it will be the norm Me now Im just happy to be above ground as for rest bah . You be you and Ill be me. PS. Preferred Pythons Jabberwoky film.

Well very thoughtful and thought provoking. When I was younger I never thought about the bigger picture, I just did things. Now I am older my beliefs and thoughts have changed significantly, I truly believe that whilst some laws are needed it is how they are applied and enforced has changed. I remember getting a good speaking to by a police officer for riding too fast in the wrong place when I was a teenager and that stuck with me to this day and made me alter how I behaved. Would that same thing happen now, I think not. Or maybe I’m just a miserable old git, who views things as being better in the past. Who knows?

It's the same here in Bulgaria Dave, the state operatives are hiding in bushes with their cameras to trap and fine the unwary and, as you say, it only takes a lapse in concentrration or too much watching for potholes on these roads. They are putting speed limits on some junctions so you have to be ready to go from 100kph to sixty in a few yards. I got such a fine for a three year old offence and, as it was in my old Land Rover it could have been driven, at the time, by a few different people, I can't remember. There is no warning of cameras here just state operatives sneaking around, and no points on licences so it is simply a means to raise taxes and make any form of motoring unpleasant. I smell the dead hand of the eu in this (you never really left) so i would imagine it is a Europe wide tyranny.

The money they want to extract from us in penalties is one thing , but the points added to our licences for petty transgressions ,will gradually tot up to a driving ban & also increase insurance quotes . This will further restrict our movements , those riders & drivers in urban areas , will have an up hill battle just to reach the outskirts without incurring a fine or charge . Insurance companies will insist all policy holders will have an audio visual spy device fitted to their vehicles . I reckon any good days we motorcyclists had are fast disappearing . That’s why I have no intentions of paying more than a few grand for any bike , & hope to be able to ride the couple I have left into the ground & get my moneys worth , while it’s still possible . 👍

Oh how I agree! I was a teacher for 40 years and subject to the same 'restrictions' as you. When I can, I ride to the coast in Picardie. A cuppa and a cake in a great café, a chat with the owners and the two old blokes who happen to be there and who were bikers years ago. You don't get that in summer and the café doesn't get customers so much, but bikers are there almost all weathers. We can't lose this.

Awoke this morning took a ride across the Yorkshire moors. The high contrast view, The low moody music setting the scene....Almost expected Laurence Oliver and Merle Oberon to appear in a cameo part... Back to reality. It's hard not to muse how things used to be..... l guess it's an age thing ''wasn't like that when l was a lad'' sonny!...Riding the lonely less populated and therefore less regulated areas of Gran Britannia is the last bastions of solace......Thanks for the ride BW.. Living in Brighouse I don't even go into the town since the council put up parking charges from 70 pence to 90 pence minimum. Halifax has put up parking charges in various rates and various zones. I no longer go to Halifax. Bradford has the CAZ zone.( Which I know doesn't charge for my bike, YET.) and on principle I won't go to Bradford. Leeds has got so many motorist fine traps, I won't go to Leeds. If I need something now I buy it online. AND THEY WONDER WHY TOWN CENTRES AND CITY CENTRES ARE DYING. When planning a rideout I check where the charging zones are if they exist I avoid them. Who loses out? Not me, but the businesses that would benefit from my patronage. How long will it be until those in power realise their own greedy, lazy policies are destroying their own communities. I always say where there's a problem it can be traced back to a politician, or council.

Brilliantly said Dave. Just back from Scotland and there are so many towns, villages, hamlets that still have 20mph limits. Apparently installed during covid , but still not deemed safe enough to change back. A fellow commenter mentioned the WEF, world economic forum, who's founder said 6 months before lockdown, "what the world needs is a global reset" and lo and behold......... We need to use and not controlled by smart watches and phones. Stop using location on all the time. If you don't, you go shopping or visit someone and upon returning home there is a list of places you've been to and then you're asked to rate them. What., No! leave me alone. Society is breaking down, just look at the popular tv programmes as proof. At the end of the Roman Empire the Emperor created bigger and better games as a distraction of what was happening around them. To hell in a hand cart, springs to mind. Always enjoy your musing. Please take care and hope your channel goes from strength to strength, although with opening up on these sort of topics I don't you'll be "allowed" to. Kindest regards, David.

Jeez, almost Orwellian. But you've hit the nail on the head. I drive for a living. 40 year driving with zero offences until 2022 where I've almost lost count. Not speeding (I'm a slow rider/driver), just being in the wrong lane in areas I don't know. Taking turns into time restricted areas. Doing 22 in a 20 zone where there's no obvious signs. I could go on. I feel for the younger generations. What a mess.

I only ride for fun these days. I live in the country and spend hours riding between the villages, rarely see any other vehicles it's heavenly, especially after living for 12 years on a Mediterranean rock where they are actively anti bike, pedal and motor. Last year they brought in the equivalent of the MOT for motorcycles and I was fortunate that my bike passed, the majority don't and won't. Anything not standard fails, all parts must be E marked. Apart from the technical inspection, it's still easy to ride here, insurance and road tax are affordable. Everyone is bike aware, they'll pull over to let you pass, even if you don't want to 😂 I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't ride.

I remember in my teens, when I started riding, being punched in the face by a cop, I was just waiting outside a friends house, to take him home, this off duty cop didn't like it,you try holding up a 500 velo, when you're being smacked in the mouth by a 6ft cop,not easy, loads of young lads can relate stories like this, that is just a different form of control,or bullying! Didn't U use to be a cop? Now you want to ride with the lads! Once a cop etc,I'm very particular who I ride with,or listen to,you are still part of the ESTABLISHMENT!

Sorry to hear an event in your past has coloured your judgement for the rest of your life Neil - there are bullies in all walks of life and you met one. I had my fair share of that kind of thing - I was repeatedly attacked with weapons by my older brother (hospital every Christmas for years before I broke free and joined the forces as a young man). Lots of us in working class areas have had similar - but we can choose to turn our back on the behaviour of a person who wronged us without carrying it forward to others. I don't think Dave is part of the establishment any more - there are plenty of good people who are in establishment roles but rile against that sort of thing. The army are part of 'the establishment' but do you refuse to ride with ex-servicemen or not listen to them? Just a thought. Sorry to hear what happened to you and hope you can put it behind you one day.

Two world wars were fought and won against the very oppression we now live under, rules we have to abide by from countries our forbears fought against and our history being eroded because we now have to pander to the wishes of these very same people, and be governed by people with good old fashioned English names like Sunak, Khan, Starmer.

Hi Dave, just dropping you a line, have you seen the prices of the Enfields lately, my jaw just dropped there selling interceptor 650s 24 plate brand new for £4,999 +on the road charges, this is 6 years on from when they first came out in 2018, when they were £5,500 + on the road charges, WOW Enfield really has screwed customers over with a price drop like that, I bought mine new in 2022, the orange crush for £6,040 on the road, not only has the customer been screwed on price but we have also lost a lot of dealer networks as motorbike gn are nolonger the importers so I certainly will not recommend Enfield as a good purchase anymore, secondhand prices are absolutely ridiculous what you are being offered in part exchange. You are losing well over half price, not a good investment anymore, and also with reliability issues as well, I just think that you need to get this message out to the public, I am very disappointed in the brand, once bitten twice shy as I say. I certainly won't be back there again All the best Pete
