Too Heavy For 200HP - Gutting The RX8's interior

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Took the entire rear interior out to save weight. I don't think it was worth it. But its not going back in that's for sure.

Ive got my 06 rx8 down to 2760lbs. Removed the rear seat braces, rear seat belt assemblies, swapped for aluminum seats and harnesses, front bumper support, all under hood insulation, air pump, ac, lighter 17" wheels, custom 3" exhaust, no carpet or headliner. I retained the dash, front door panels, and front console but thats about it. A lot of pieces removed for not that much weight savings, but it definitely helped the car feel much quicker with the stock renesis.

I am excited to shed the whole exhaust, lighter wheels. And get some dry ice to remove the insulation in the trunk and under the carpet. The oem seats won't last. But I like having door panels for now haha. AC will always stay. My rally experience has taught me. I want to be comfy

@@RADPotential getting rid of an AC in any car is a dumb move imo unless its a dedicated race car. borderline undrivable past 90 deg or under 40 deg , unless you like showing up with sweaty balls

The correct relearning process after reconnecting the battery is an undisturbed 20 minute idle. The cold start assist will keep it alive while it initializes everything and then relearns fuel trims after. traction control is relearned by turning the wheel full lock both ways a few times and automatic windows reinitialize by rolling them all the way up and down a few times

Another way to shave weight is to scrape and grind away all the seem weld and under coating from the factory. Did that to one for mazdas motorsports team and shave off over 80 pounds

I heard that 60% in the front and 40% in the rear is better because when you are under acceleration it becomes 50 50 and when you are in the corners and not accelerating it is better to have more weight on the wheels that are steering

I know this sounds stupid but you inspired me to move to Tennessee, I'm getting my law degree soon and i can either take the California bar or the Tennesse bar. I don't want to live in the city, I hate it here. Out there i can have a decent home and lots of land for lots of cars haha . Why don't you build a nice little car port? keep your cars out of the sun and rain . Could probably make one for like 2,000$ if you build it yourself

Just corner balanced my miata so have some tips. cross weight is most important... and you should measure those all those weights with you sitting in the car (average weight). Your vid wasn't about "adjusting" susp but the beginning of this vid does a great job explaining what's important about the weights! kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZaOmq8WYlMW4eco.html 2920lbs is pretty solid though for a modern safe sports car! Can't wait to do some laps with this thing at a HPDE!
