The RX8 videos are already my favourite on the channel. Watching the crazy AWD RX7 is fine, but this is actual stuff that 99% of the rotary owning audience can actually relate to and achieve themselves! Personally I'd love to see a hacked together supercharger or turbo setup on this, or for Rob to get a rival RX8 to build the ultimate RX8 setup on.

Whilst I'm older and have a little experience on cars, this is the stuff I love to see. Why? Because it introduces/motivates 16..20 year olds to start working on cheap cars they can afford, and then they can go on to do awesome stuff.
I'm rebuilding a small engine myself and I can attest to the importance of just taking things apart and buying twice as many seals and springs as you think you will need.
I mean it is the “superior chassis” I’ve always liked the RX8. I never had a issue with it other then them not making a turbo model. The Mazdaspeed bumper and kit are all you really need to make them look amazing. I’m glad you guys did this Isaiah.

What I love (and people with bottomless bank accounts probably hate) is that you get to the nitty gritty. Not many are nearly as thorough as you are of showing every last detail. I’m trying to learn, andi is almost half of the community edits most of the details out, and the other almost half just pays to get it done and you get to hear a cold start (oooohh), and then there’s you and a few others. Corny maybe, but down right engine dirty..definitely. Thanks

@@FishFind3000 It doesn't burn as cleanly, not a concern for a normal motor but in these the oil is used inside the combustion chamber
@Soravia
2 жыл бұрын
@@aserta wankel by nature does not have enough time to burn all the fuel and air mixture. It also has to throw in oil for lubrication on the seals spinning along with rotors. Synthetic oils are made to resist heat and not combust like fuel. So they leave a lot of unburnt deposits inside the rotor housing, exhaust port, and on the rotor itself. They will seize the seals in place and prevent getting good compression, attract fuel to the carbon build up and have hot spot detonation, and they can build up on the side exhaust ports of Renesis, catch and break the side seals, killing the engine.

@@F3Ibane With Rob getting into machining, and eventually doing his own billets, I think there's hope for the Renesis. Two major issues need to be solved, how the ports breathe and the cooling issue that melts seals. Rob is already messing with how ports breath on one of the other rotaries. The cooling issue would be solved with better designed parts, hence why manufacturing custom parts from billets is important here. The Renesis design has potential, but that potential isn't met due to manufacturing corner cutting from Mazda, such as not grinding out better ports for better airflow characteristics, or the cooling issue that could be fixed with a more efficient cooling design. If Rob, the team, and probably some helping hands that actually studied thermodynamics and engineering, can produce a modified Renesis design that fixes the issues, think about what other fringe experiments Rob could get into that're mostly untouched in the rotary world. Stuff like what Paul Lamar was into and some of the stuff like what the person who runs the Pattakon website is into. If Rob is willing to dip his feet into the waters of fringe experiments with design, things could get super interesting.

I can relate to Isaiah revving that thing up! I finished my most recent 13B-MSP rebuild and immediately threw my tools and suitcase in the car and drove it 400 miles to Tennessee for a business meeting.
I think the best part of these is that, while a little complex to assemble/disassemble rotor wise, the general size/weight of the rotary makes it feasible for a dude in a not large garage to tear down and rebuild one without cramming up the space. Put it on a shop table and go to work!
Great fun build series👍🏽
