TONY KHAN's WRESTLING FANTASY BUFFET OF DELUSION (Wrestling Soup)

Ойын-сауық

Is it fair to still consider Tony Khan a polarizing figure in pro wrestling? After several years of grace and patience, even Khan’s staunchest supporters have recently begun to acknowledge his many flaws.
While it's true that he does have loyal supporters, the sheer number of individuals merely tolerating his presence may indicate that he's no longer the hero in this story as once believed to be.
This is a written piece by Joe Numbas and read through Soupbot AI.

Yep, the fanboys were all up on his jock for the first few years and legitimately thought a person with no experience in the industry could somehow compete with a juggernaut like WWE. The “advisors” he has had that are wrestlers show that they could never run a wrestling company because they have too many cooks in the kitchen.

More of this please guys! I think you all just hit a new turn here with content like this. I wish you all would've been able to add the disaster that went down over the weekend with Khan. People are so easily guilt tripped into supporting an awful promotion with lines like ‘we need an altertive’ and ‘wrestlers need more places to work’. I agree with both, but we don’t need AEW to be that alternative. AEW is poisoning the well so badly that broadcasters and networks are at risk of being put off wrestling for life. AEW existing is killing hopes for another better secondary promotion or tertiary promotions to come along and create more places for wrestlers to work in the future. It's a parody and a black mark on the industry and we don’t have to support it just because it’s an alterntive.

The thing that really worries me about Tony's arrogance is that there may be some really bad long term consequences. There have been far too many incidents of wrestlers being hurt in the ring and the refs not taking proper care of them, and it's not new. It started with the person seemingly being knocked out in the tag match, then the multiple head shots of Matt Hardy, a female wrestler having to crawl out of the ring during a match, the Moxley double piledriver debacle... People will get hurt during a match from time to time, but the fact that the refs and other workers continually react in the wrong way should have been addressed by now. Khan just won't listen to any criticism, and can't admit being wrong, and mostly it's comical like his delusion over the audited Wembley attendance numbers (despite also owning a stadium in the UK), but the risks to safety bug me. I wish I could be confident that people like Paige who weren't cleared to work in the WWE are actually safe to take bumps, but I have doubts. The other thing that I thought of while typing this was the 'sparklers of death' match. Did they bother actually testing that set up? If so, why didn't they book around the pyro being rubbish? If not, what would have happened if the pyro had been overdone?...

Should there be an alternative to WWE with AEW? Absolutely! But that’s not the underlying issue that most everyone sees except the diehard AEW marks: Tony Khan simply isn’t qualified to run AEW and he seems to have some serious mental health issues. He can’t stop attacking WWE while not paying attention to his own shows and the lack of any semblance of a consistent story. He often lashes out against critics of AEW who are making valid claims about dumb things and mistakes they’re making. He quite often does very odd things for a grown man running a business to be doing: hugging grown ass men like the overly horny prom date, making weird appearances on tv doing such idiotic things as hugging a downed Sting on the mat after he got beat down, and generally being oblivious to how he is universally viewed by professionals in the business and the average fans alike. These things paint a very clear picture of a man who isn’t mature for his age and cannot successfully run a business. That’s not even addressing the numerous professional issues that have stemmed from Tony not behaving as a boss. He acts like he’s just running the shows but never steps up to keep AEW in check as the actual boss. Despite having numerous legend around who all have better minds for pro wrestling, Tony never seeks their council to improve his company because he’s unwilling to admit the obvious problems in AEW everyone else but he can see. All of this is merely scratching the surface but it’s enough to explain why AEW under Khan will never work and I’d be shocked if AEW lasts another year or two before it completely implodes.

Funny how the AEW diehards and Punk haters were making it like he was 100% the problem but since he left, things have gotten steadily worse both in and out of the ring. I can just imagine Punk, Cody, and Jade (and even Andrade) sitting around backstage at WWE talking about what it was like working for Tony and how bad that ship is sinking.

WCW was "ultimately" that place in 1996 through parts of 1998 as the top company in America. Sting was a mega star there, so your argument doesn't work with him.

Damn y’all that was excellent. I really respect and appreciate the hard work on this one. My only slight critique is Joey sounds like he’s reading, which he probably is. It just makes the words come off a little flat instead of like a normal convo or rant would. Still fantastic a little experience and that’ll fix itself.

To answer your question with which you started the video: He isn't polarizing. Everyone acknowledges that Tony Khan is an absolute moron when it comes to wrestling and business. Everyone acknowledges that he is what is known as a "money mark." The only polarizing thing is whether or not the product of his habit of throwing his father's money at his ever-growing army of action figures has produced a wrestling product that's worth watching, despite Tony Khan's ineptitude.

Very well summarized. We were all so excited in 2019 when we found out that WWE finally has a legit challenger. We all wanted AEW to succeed and do well so that we as fans can enjoy more wrestling content. When you need Edge, Christian, Jericho, Billy Gunn, Sting, who are in their 50s to be on your show, that is an acceptance of defeat. I like all of the above, but it's time to move on. If some of the younger talented guys like Hook, Ricky Starks are smart, they will eventually look to get to WWE. Punk is right. AEW wants to be an indie type promotion with indie style spot fest 5-star matches in front of small crowds. Young bucks have really exposed themselves as sore losers. When you are struggling to bring in big crowds domestically with big ex WWE stars, Indie style matches, what does that tell you? There is no direction, no vision, no leadership.

One - Really? Can't actually do a 15-minute reading? AI? Two - You're being WAY too harsh on Sting post-WCW. Not everyone who didn't go to WWE is looking to take the easy way out. Sting was a BEDROCK of TNA for many years, working hard and putting out top-tier pwrformances, and was quite frank when talking about his distrust of WWE after WCW fell... A distrust that proved right when he eventually DID join the WWE for that short period, being jobbed out and then injured. By the time 2019 came around, Sting was well past middle age and had given his best for decades. Other than that, great vid.

AEW didn't earn the success they initially had. Tony was handed a massive wrestling company chocked full of talent without doing anything to earn being in such a position. He's the guy who is handed a functional e-fed and three months later it closes because the matches aren't being written, the cards aren't coming out on time, and he's building every single person up and promising them titles. He has the worst possible mindset for a wrestling promoter.
