After this whooping from Gaejhe, Ferguson should have retired, because he hasn't been able to recover physically or psychologically. When he recently fought Diaz, it was clear he had slowed down, and he wasn't really 100% in the match.

U definitely dont know mma. Holloway vs kattar. Over 600 strikes landed to katars face. Dan hooker got demolished by dustin worse then tony did by gaethje. Robbie Lawler vs rory macdonald. All these fighters sustained more damage then tony. Even the beatings tony put on people are way worse then the dmage tony took against gaethje. The reason tony declined so much is his style was a pressure style, he relied heavily on 3 things cardio, confidence and chin. His chin is still there weirdly. His cardio isnt as good, his walking down opponent's was basically him blocking punches with his steel chin and head and then gassing them. Tony has 0 confidence now and way worse stamina. Hope he smokes that patty kid

Even listen to what josh Thomson said about fighting tony, he said I was shaking all over and bleeding as I'm showering... Tony was dancing in hospital straight after the gaethje fight, that man is a masochist lol. I think chandler's ko seriously finished tony for good. But as I always say, tony after that knee injury was a shadow of himself, in his prime, it was crazy to see. Never seen a more free flowing individual in my life, he was just making moves on the spot, literally nobody could prepare for him. I remember rda saying fighting tony is a suicide mission, coz he has no team, he trains alone at elevation and he basically keeps 80% of his purse. That's how broke and hungry prime tony was and that's why almost every fight (on his win streak) was a fight of the night or performance of the night or fight of the year against pettis. Tonys a legend, but, its over his times done.

It's crazy how he said he breaks his opponents mentally, physically and emotionally and then broke in each of those ways against his opponent.

You're right, Tony should have held out for Khabib (probably would have lost anyway) but would not have taken such a bad beat down.

Tony Ferguson vs Justin Gaethje was brutal to watch especially in silence without the crowd cheering; you could hear every punch. It sounded like a butcher tenderizing beef. Justin took Tony’s soul in that fight.

Watching Tony backing away shaking his head like that, I knew something had happened that we will probably never hear about. Tony felt something in that moment that he hadn’t felt before, and it may have broken him.

Watching this live before the stoppage broke my heart. Justin was just punishing him at the end, and after he shook his head after taking those shots, it was just rough to watch. Tony is a freak and the definition of a warrior.

When I was watching that fight, I was unintentionally levitating 6 feet in the air.

It was so many punches, so hard, over and over that eventually tonys brain switched into survival mode and stopped letting tony do his signature "unbreakable tough guy" act. I dont think he was even intentionally shaking his head, it was his brains way of saying "NO - STOP"

I tensed up everytime gaethje connected ,was hard to look at but I didn’t turn away 😂

Tony concieved his own downfall of never being the same after talking about his opponents never being the same after fighting him.

In these types of fights, its better to just get knocked out. Taking all those shots for 5 rounds is impossible to recover from

Dude Tony took a hell of a beating that night but not once did he back up or give up, even though he took way too much damage this fight convinced me that Tony is the toughest, craziest SOB to ever enter the octagon!! Mad respect to Tony 🔥💪

He did back up and was shaking his head violently to recover on the last hit that got Tony TKO'd. The violent head shaking was all the ref needed to see to make the stoppage.

Gaethje had an answer for literally everything Tony threw at him. This was one of my all time favorite fights!

I think him cutting to 155 twice in like 2-3 weeks was the reason he took such a beating in this fight

Honestly watching this was watching two gladiators absolutely finish each other, toe to toe like real men. Nothing but respect to both the demons.

Watching this fight live with no audience you could just hear the thuds on Tony’s skull, can not believe he stood in there until his nervous system shut down…

When Luke Rockhold retired all of a sudden there's a wave of people remembering what he did to some fighters.. Now the same is going to happen with Tony and we'll start seeing all these "legendary moments" videos

I don’t know, people like Tony. Luke was kind of a meme, and as a guy who never saw Prime Luke, I really appreciate it - because the dude was good… and IMO doesn’t deserve the level of disrespect he gets. It’s cool to see him getting some respect now.

The grunts of effort from gaethje are an under appreciated part of this fight he sounded like he was just trying to punch holes through him the entire fight

Dude Tony took the most brutal hits to the dome I’ve ever seen in this fight! It’s incredible he’s still alive and well. Tony will still go down as one of the most creative fighters to ever do it.

The problem is you guys don't respect that man until he hit you..😅😅

One of the best UFC fights ever in my opinion. Two absolute warriors! This was the fight that turned me into a hardcore fan. My dad & I watch the fights every week now.

Justin's a beast, he puts everything behind nearly every shot he throws.

The end of that fight reminded me of guy holding Lee at the end of him and garaas fight. 😔

Tony spoke his own downfall into existence. Gaethje completely dismantled Tony and he hasn't been the same since 😢😢😢

This showed how criminally under rated he is

One of the most brutal fights in not just UFC history, even in MMA history. The fact it was not in front of an audience only made the vibe seem more sinister.

Tony spend his whole career bullying his opponents and was tougher. He was able to absorb more damage than them and that led to his wins. Unfortunately for him he can across gaethje who could hit harder and take more damage than him. He never recovered after that. The next loses were to people that were more well rounded fighters on the ground or again tougher. Poor guy should have quit after the gaethje fight.

I dont think it was that gathjee could take more damage or hit harder then tony (maybe he indeed can hit harder), but more like gathjee was so good striking wise, he was very precise that day. For every one punch tony hit, he hit 5 ultra clean maybe knock out worthy shots. If tony had gave him equally, if he was equally good as gathjee striking wise that night. He would/could have won.

All that damage you "take" doesn't magically go away. It accumulates over time and reaches a breaking point sooner or later. It is much better to not get hit at all rather than being tough.

Tony is on pace for the longest losing streak in ufc history.

I really like gaejhe's mental approach. He comes into a fight very well prepared mentally. He is very mindful and very present. He listens to his coaches, puts all his trust on them. I think he's one of the smartest fighter out there. His humility is what brought him so far. Congrats on him

Nah Gaethje is who did it, Chandler was just a part of the steep downfall from that point on

He survived a sure knockout. The uppercut to the chin is an indefinite knockout punch. And he toughed it out! Truly impressive fight.

When Tony's lips are moving, the world knows that Tony is related to McGregor.

This and the 2nd JDS vs Velasquez fight are the only fights I feared I was watching someone die

These are both tough men. Respect.

It was a great fight but man I felt sad watching it at the time. You could tell Tony was just too tough for his own good. Gaethje best the ever living hell out of Tony

Maybe it shouldn’t be but it’s nice when someone who talks as much as Tony about the champs like Khabib about how they ain’t shit finally meet somebody better that shuts them up and puts them in their place. Now he comes in last in every contest he enters. Justin was your boogeyman Tony.

I think that's a naive comment from someone who has no idea how much pressure is on fighters to be entertaining and build up a fight. Look at Brock Lesnar, Connor McGregor, Colby Covington. The list goes on. They're great heels, but it's part of how they get paid. Tony made weight twice to perform in a short notice fight against a completely different match up than he thought he was getting into. He had an extended camp that caused him to peak at the absolute wrong time. Despite all of that he still walked into that octagon and left his heart and soul behind as a consequence. Even still when the dust settled, after he smacked Gaethje's hand away he came back and gave him a hug, showed respect, and gave him his props. You know how big a person you have to be to do that in that moment when you just lost everything you spent your life working towards. Sure he's made some cringy comments, but he still deserves respect and appreciation after giving everything to the fans.

The quote from Tony at the beginning is truly poetic seeing him in 2024😭
