Tonjiru with NO Added Oil Recipe (Savory Pork Miso Soup / Butajiru) | Cooking with Dog

We are making healthy, nutritious Tonjiru, pork miso soup with lots of vegetables. The root vegetables and pork will warm you up. Delicious!
How to Make Tonjiru

(serves 2~3)
80g Thin Pork Slices (2.8 oz)
50g Daikon Radish (1.8 oz)
25g Carrot (0.9oz)
40g Gobo, Burdock Root (1.4 oz)
50g Konjac (1.8 oz)
80g Taro (2.8 oz)
70g Long Green Onion (2.5 oz)
2 Shiitake Mushrooms
1 tbsp Sake
2~2½ tbsp Miso
500ml Dashi Stock (2.1 cups)
Shichimi - Seven Flavor Chili Powder
or substitute: Ichimi, red chili powder or grated ginger root

豚薄切り肉:80g
(バラ肉、切り落とし、細切れなど)
大根:50g
人参:25g
ごぼう:40g
こんにゃく:50g
里芋:1〜2個(80g)
長ねぎ:1本70g
椎茸:2枚(しめじ、舞茸)2個35だった
酒:大さじ1
みそ:大さじ2〜2と1/2
だし汁:500ml
好みで七味を最後にのせる

    it's -60 degrees F where I live, so unless I swim in that pot of soup it probably won't do much to warm me up. :( Still looks delicious!

    ahhh, this looks so good! I shouldn't watch this while im so hungry :/ it's impossible to find good miso based soups in some parts of America, which really sucks on cold days when all you really want is miso. your only real option is to find a specialty store that sells different kinds of miso and stock up on all of it, then make it yourself. I wish there was someone besides me that could cook around here.

    You could probably substitute any root vegetables you like if you can't find them! Or see if you've got an asian grocery store near you. They would most likely carry these veggies if your regular grocery store doesn't.

    I love this dish, made it a few times, but the pork always comes out a bit over cooked, but i'm hardly cooking the meat very long. Is there a special way to keep it tender. Please help, other than the pork everything is wonderful
