FUNKY COLD MEDINA 1 oz. (30ml) Vodka 1 oz. (30ml) Southern Comfort 1 oz. (30ml) Blue Curacao 1 ½ oz. (45ml) Cranberry Juice Kiwi Slice
This riff was used in Uncle Buck when he visited tbe Principle.
I was 14 when this came out. When my best friend and I would be in the pool and this song came on, my Dad would come dancing outside. He loved this song and his other hit Wild Thing.
Asia, you are right. There is an actual drink called Funky Cold Medina. It's made with vodka, southern comfort blue, and cranberry juice. Easy to find the exact recipe on line.😂😂😂 Based on the song.

Love Tone Loc. Couldn't make that song today and yes we will all still dance and laugh with him cause its just funny.

Date rape drugs are funny? Agreed.
This was the jam when you were club hopping in the ‘80’s !!! It got everyone on the dance floor!!
This guitar lick is from the band foreigner "hot blooded "
I knew when they got to the "Sheena" part, i kept wondering who was gonna laugh first. BJ looked weirded out, but Asia got a good laugh out of it. I've seen the video to that song, the drink itself looked like lab experiment gone wrong. Lol.

This one really makes you want to dance, It's got that funky beat from those old School songs !! Love it !!
One of the few rap artists this 66 year old white boy likes. Love the reactions you two.

After this classic I'd say Young MC's 'Bust a Move' should be next on your list. Or anything by De La Soul. or Mobb Deep.
Used to go to karaoke in the late 90's... Our pregnant waitress always sang "Funky Cold Medina", and "Wild Thing", by Tone Loc
Lol...I hit the dance floor every time I heard the first beat of it❤
Ha-ha! Remember this one from childhood. Sample heads would tell you, elements of: Honky Tonk Women-Rolling Stones, Hot Blooded-Foreigner & Christine 16-Kiss, help create the instrumental🤘🏼
This song was from 1989 and C&C Music Factory's song Everybody Dance Now was released late 1990 but was the hit in 1991.
Hey party people great reaction! This one takes me back to my college days. HBCU pride !
FYI this song sampled kiss song Christine 16 ✌️
What's sad is you can't make a song like this today. You'd have someone crying. Great reaction.
Reason song sounds so familiar. 3 iconic rock songs are sampled in this song. Kiss-Christine 16, Foreigner-hot blooded and Rolling Stones- Honky Talk Women
Tone Loc plays a role in the hilarious movie Pet Detective. That was Jim Carrey's first movie after the TV show. A must watch.

Sampled songs: Hot Blooded by Foreigner & Smoke On the Water by Deep Purple
I was in college when this hit the airwaves. The clubs were booming 1988 or so
Awesome reaction! Both of you killed me. 😄
The main guitar riff sample is from Foreigner "Hot Blooded". The whole "Lōc-ed After Dark" album is still a banger.
Oh Hell -o 🤩 One of my favorite old school tunes ❣️
Loved me some Tone Loc back in the day!!!!
Yes, Tone Loc, I agree with Lowprofile, You'll love "Wild Thing." The Lead Vocalist acts in the Movie "Heat" with Robert De Niro, Val Kilmer & Al Pacino. I like how he has Distorted Guitar Chords & Lead Nuances in the Mix on "Wild thing."
We heard about "spanish fly drops" playing Legion baseball in the 5th grade a few years before this song came out. We knew what was up😂😂😂
LOL Tone Loc. I know this one and "Wild Thing" He was in a Disney film called Blank Check in 1994.
Funky Cold Modenia really is a drink.. lol.. Great review.. his songs are always fun
The beat and guitar lick is a Kiss sample btw.
1 shot of southern comfort, 1 shot blue Curacao, 1 shot of vodka & 1 cup of cranberry juice. That's love!!!!!
I remember going to house parties dancing to this 🤣
yeah when this one played at the club in the 80's ER'ONE hit the dance floor....
The video for this is hilarious. Ah, the 80s - so nutty and fun!
Ohhhhhhh the memories!! We would dance the night away to this and Wild Thing. Great times and great reaction ❤
Wow....I haven't heard this in about 30 years. Thanks!
Im happy y'all did a throw back this when music was fun🤙 tony be proud 😂 jus jokn. And it was a drink.
Tip of the hat to the Rolling Stones and "Satisfaction" (1965), mentioned early in the song.
Guitar riff is a sample of KISS Christine Sixteen
Alright, who here remembers Spud Makenzie, and Alex from Strohs????? That's when commercials were commercials. That's when Anhueser Bush was owned by American Owner. Now it's owned by InBev, a German owned company. I did appreciate those commercials, was a great time to be alive. Good times
I always loved the samples from KISS and Foreigner!!
Funky Cold Medina came out in the 80s, while Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) was a 90s jam.
This metal head actually bought this album everybody had it.
I was 29 when this song came out 😁
Funky Cold Medina Recipe 1 oz Absolut® vodka 1 oz Southern Comfort® peach liqueur 1 oz Blue Curacao liqueur top with cranberry juice ice
When that song came out, it was like every bar you walked into it was playing.
Classic 80s here. Had to ask my dad who Spud Mckenzy & Alex from Strohs were 😳 BTW - this isn't the original. Maybe remixed or re-recorded?
Wow this brings back some WILD memories.......LOVE IT♥️♥️♥️
Thanks for this, one of the OG's of rap..when i first came to Tampa Fl mid 1980's I worked "the door" at several clubs in Tampa. The DJ's had to play this when the owner was not there. He fought the Rap for along time. Thanks for the smile & laughs at this memoriy
Tone Loc is awesome . Love this song .
My introduction to Tone Loc as akid was from the movie Fern Gully The Last Rainforest, the song "If I'm Gonna Eat Somebody" 😆I feel like I'm the only one who remembers that
I remember that song, forgot all about it till now
Every time ice ice baby played on the radio I jumped for joy till it wasn't this. This is better.
Ah takes me back to High school. I graduated in '91. We was all jammin to this back then. Wild thing is another one from him you need to listen to.
Medina : This awesome tropical mixed drink combines vodka, Southern Comfort, blue curacao, and cranberry juice, and is garnished with a kiwi slice
71 yr old man used to peel Out when I heard this song, Thank you!
When this came out I was 18 and listening to metal and country and still is one of my fave tunes to listen to..I never thought, back then, that this would be possible as I am now a 51 yo white guy..There are only a handful of artists n songs I will listen to, but have to say that I think my favorite is "Walk this way" by Aerosmith and RUN DMC..

I bumped into tone at the local casino in mn. Super chill dude.
Love Tone Loc, The "Sample hook" guitar & snare is from KISS "Christine Sixteen" , I always thought "funky cold Medina" was the Absinthe drink or another name "the Green Fairy" 😆🤘😈 Oh AND he sampled "Jamie's Cryin" by Van Halen for "Wild Thing" ✌
This is now played on 80s stations but they have cut out the whole Sheena verse, such a fun song at all our parties in the late 80s early 90s

Just like they cut a verse from Dire Strait's "Money for Nothing". Censorship is WRONG.
There was a commercial that came out and used this and the song everybody dance now
The song contains several samples. The drum break is from "Get Off Your Ass and Jam" by Funkadelic, and the main guitar riff is from "Hot Blooded" by Foreigner
Another good song off this album is Cheeba Cheeba. 💜🎶
the two pairs of glasses was a way to make fun of people wearing dark glasses to be cool. I think the joke actually started as a bit in the movie Airplane! in 1980.
Good God I've had totally forgotten this banger from back in the day. Goes right on the Playlist.
That main guitar riff is sampled from Foreigner's Hot Blooded.
This was always a fun song. 😎
So much fun! Thanks for this!
As an old white man this is a killer tune. Old school hip hop is the best. Tone Loc The Lox Naughty by Nature killer shit.
I remember this song lol good song.
Way back when Flava Flav would always say Funky Cold Medina in a lot of Public Enemy’s songs in the break points. Tone Loc made this after hearing that.
That was a lot of fun!!! Next do "Wild Thing."
Wife here..., Could not keep us off the dance floor when this Jam hit at a houseparty in High School!!!..I mean EVEYBODY would dance... it would be 😂 Hilarious in a Good WaY!!!
Had the cassette of Tone Loc Also Chiba is a great song.

Hey Asia, BJ yall done to me back to my world traveling days. From Memphis , Chicago, Jackson Ms, Montego Bay, Hollywood and LA. I believed he was in the movie South Central.
This is a CLASSIC!!!
If you ever watched Ace Ventura pet detective with Jim carry I think that's the song in it. It's funny I was born in 1984 but if you watch a lot of 80s and 90s music they pretty much have these kind of songs in them.
this song came up in my youth, but i never payed attencion to the lyrics, LOL! tooo funny!
Yeah you can't drop any of that Medina in Trinidad Colorado. Their motto is that there is a surprise in every box. Hehe
Sounds like he sampled Foreigner’s “Double Vision”.
Fun song (college for me) - it samples “Hot Blooded” by Foreigner
🎶 This is the eighties and I'm down with the ladies! 🎶👻
Catch his acting debut in the first Ace Ventura. Can't mistake that voice.
The always take me back to my childhood
i loved this but my go to on this "CD" was "The Homies" i just could not stop bumping that!
This is the 80's and I'm down with the ladies. Lol. When you could say what you wanted and not get in trouble. Good times!!!
If you like gritty funky southern rock , check out The Kentucky Head Hunters song : Walk softly on this geart if mine !
I grew up listening to this
He played the police chief in ace ventura
What a great reaction! This one brings back the memories from DJing the dance clubs.
Funny as hell and grooves too
This was right after Run DMC, the Beastie boys, and LL cool J opened the doors for rap on the radio. Young MC had a hit, "Bust a move" around this same time period.
