DEEE-LITE FACTS
-American house and dance music group formed in New York City in 1986.
-In December 2016, Billboard ranked them as the 55th most successful dance artists of all time.
-Their music has been featured on soundtracks for many television shows and movies.
-Rolling Stone described them as drawing “vivid, multiracial, pan-sexual crowds”.
-Mademoiselle magazine noted “as a group they’re a festival of individuality; as a band, they’re a party anyone can attend”.
-The band played both hip-hop and house clubs, both gay and straight clubs.
-Kier designed the posters, club invites, and all three albums and 12” singles.
-Kier wrote the lyrics and melodies and asked Bootsy Collins to join in on sessions; and would help them assemble their touring band.
MEMBERS
Lady Miss Kier (Kierin Magenta Kirby): Vocals
Supa DJ Dmitry (Dmitry Brill): DJ, Guitar, Keyboard, Bass
DJ Towa Tei: DJ, Sampler for fill ins and grooves.
GROOVE IS IN THE HEART FACTS
-Released August 1990 as their debut and lead single from their first album, World Clique.
-It was a hit in many countries, reaching number one in Australia and on both the Canadian RPM and the US Billboard dance charts.
-Today it is widely recognized as a classic of its genre.
-Horns in the song were performed by the original Horny Horns duo of Fred Wesley and Maceo Parker.
-Mid-song rap section performed by Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest and Bootsy Collins of Parliament-Funkadelic provides some vocals.
-Samples in the song consist of “Bring Down the Birds” by Herbie Hancock and “Get Up” by Vernon Burch, which provide the drum track and also formed the basis for the breakdown featuring a slide whistle.

This one was so much fun! On to the next one! I have known this song since the day it came out... but something I heard for the first time during the making of this video is the sweet, soft, conga drum starting at 4:17 in my left ear... it sticks pretty much throughout the rest of the song. Never noticed that before! I HIGHLY recommend: Tori Amos - Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana Cover): kzread.info/dash/bejne/epV1q5WjeZrbc8Y.html (shivers and goosebumps!)

Bootsy Collins is the human avatar, the Omega, the ultimate of funk. It's not possible to be funkier than Bootsy. Played bass for James Brown, played in Parliament Funkadelic. You can't get funkier than that.

I'm shaking my head when they call Q-tip "the guy", not to mention nobody recognizing Bootsy Collins... And when that young dude was saying he was basically struggling to get into the beat, I'm like, what is wrong with kids, and popular music, these days when this song isn't instantly making you dance. Also all credit should go to Towa Tei, the beatsmith who so few people recognize outside of Japan. This man has been an originator of styles for decades and is still doing interesting new things.

I once had a boss tell me that leadership was "getting someone to do a job they don't want to do and not mind doing it." Such is Momma's leadership. Thanks, Momma!

Dang we had some good music. This came out in ‘90 & was played at every dance we had in high school for the next 3 years until I graduated. Brings back good memories!

Love your edits of this--especially during the song itself; you don't add any of the stopping and talking and re-starting of the video from the various reactors, play the song straight through, and just get the immediate responses to the song, not the often-times forced (or cringy) mid-song commentary.. Excellent comp.

Hahaha, Ive seen literally every reactor do this song and its always a good time, their expressions r priceless. Even got some merch and been with since their first video... Rome life, Rob Squad, Mr Video, Asia and BJ, etc. I think the algos bring us like minded peeps together. I like watching u put the vid together, Im impressed, I could never do it, I suck at tech. Im an old hippie grew up without cell phones, cable, computers, social media and never got in to it till I became ill 8 yrs ago. Im lucky to figure out TY, lol. Thanx so much, stay groovy, Peace

🤣😅 The actual song with the edits themselves... yes.. I do work very hard to match the emotion or feeling of the song. Like transitions on the slide whistles, transitions when she says "how do you say"... etc. But this song consisted mostly of 4 count cuts in rhythm with the time signature. If you were talking about the "making of" of my actual editing process at the end... if that matches the song, that was completely by accident. 😁

Back in those days where I bought an album just for one song. I listen to everything too, various genre's from multiple era's, so I owned plenty of vinyl, 8- tracks, cassettes, cd's. Thankful for these streaming platforms. I can play what I want whenever and playlists galore! Anyway love reaction videos, and these compilations are the best.

This song, when it first came out introduced me to Bootsey, one of the greatest bassists (I didn't know, at the time, that he didn't play the bass line on this song). Also, I had found out that the DJ was also part of a Japanese band (I think it was called Gessiah Boys), but I could only find one song which I really enjoyed.
