    Tim Tomashek gave a good account of himself here. Kept busy and blocked most of Morrisons big shots. Most importantly he was clearly not afraid to be in there with a hard punching heavyweight champ. Thumbs up to him for doing better than most boxers could hope to do under the same circumstances.

    Kudos to Morrison for being respectful and for his corner staying silent. Never taunted, never pretended to do a wind up punch or a bolo punch. Punched hard enough to hurt the guy but didn't try to kill him. Thankfully that cut allowed the doc to stop the fight.

    I was expecting tomaschek to be a absolute clown in the ring, but no he can actually box, and he was in no shape at all but got in and gave a decent account of himself with a world class puncher like morrison. I give the guy a lot of credit, not only is he brave, he isn't the talentless bum I was expecting either, okay he had no business in there with morrison, but he got in anyway.

    I'm amazed actually I'm from England, and I have the upmost respect for tim, isn't it true he was just in the crowd and he had a few beers? But wow, he was mixing it well with morrison, and if tim would of trained properly who knows. Tim if you ever see this post, respect, I'm a amateur boxer and you gave good account of your boxing here. At times you looked a little rough around the edges, but overall you look like a competent fighter with skills, shame you never took boxing that seriously because by watching this I don't think anybody can call you a bum. Far from it, great performance from a guy that didn't turn up for a fight. How many people would do what you done then? Without looking a fool which you certainly didn't.

    No man, the WBO actually had him lined up as a replacement for Mike Williams. Update: Ok no. The WBO almost didn't sanction this fight. Tim was a journeyman that had been asked by promoters to show up for $2500 in case something happened. He showed up not expecting to fight and so had a hotdog and like 2 beers to have fun. He was planning to go to a tailgate party after the fight. But Mike Williams didn't leave his dressing room. So Tim fought. He was not even a ranked fighter so his 35-10 record at this point was against rookies and club fighters. Not the experience a pro needs to fight in a title bout like this. So the fight was almost made a non-title fight all together. But somehow it remained a valid title defense for Tommy.

    Tomashek had great heart in this match. His style was so unorthodox, to the point of being amusing... He was a wild puncher but had remarkable hand speed for being chunky. Good stamina also. Mad respect. ✊🖑 Much ❤ for Tommy being an honorable pugilist. Thanks.

    This goofy guy who was apparently literally pulled out of the crowd on a last minute whim, still shows more skill than clowns like Peter Mcneeley who was promoted to high heaven. Boxing is such a ridiculous franchise: so many posers with inflated career records, and then fighters like Tomashek who are treated as disposable, almost with distain. No wonder everyone is into MMA these days.

    Tomashek just didn't take the fight game too seriously, he was happy being a journeyman but he was good fighter. Contrary to popular belief he wasn't just randomly pulled out, he was the backup plan in case Williams was unable to fight but with under an hour to go, everything looked fine so Tomashek had a beer and a hotdog, ready for the fight start. Williams then said he wasn't going to fight so they asked him to step in, which he obviously did and gave a decent account of himself.

    @@bahumbug101 - It kind of bugs me how they stopped the fight before Tomashek was ready to quit. It almost seems like certain fighters were "hand picked" to be journeymen, because they ain't EVER stopping that fight if the guy who's "supposed" to win in trailing behind.

  • @bahumbug101

    @bahumbug101

    7 ай бұрын

    @@Brakathor I see your point but you are only ever going to get these journeymen fighters to act as stand in if cases like this arise, the fact that he willingly took $2500 to potentially(and eventually) step in the ring with the champ, on belt defence night, says all you need to know really. Imagine the contractual intricacies of trying to get a stand in that might even be, for example, 9 ranks below Morrison to sit there 'just in case'. No disrespect to Tomashek but he was NEVER going to bother any top 20 fighter in this case, let alone Morrison, which is exactly why the WBO was not going to sanction the fight. There is no scenario where this vastly different level of skill and power difference could result in an upset of any kind. Another thing to note is whilst there were no usual 'devastating' punches thrown by Morrison, Tomashek was WAAAAAY out of his comfort zone and whilst, yes he was putting on a bit of a show for the crowd and seemingly enjoying himself, did take a lot of head shots, shots that are a lot heavier than he is used to taking and they were coming in flurries, he absolutely would not of wanted it stopped, this was his once in a lifetime moment so ultimately, it's about protecting the fighter.

    In perspective.... he wasn't just grabbed out randomly, he was the backup plan, a very, very unlikely needed one but Williams did fail to show up at pressers and stuff before the fight. Could Morrison have just took his head off quickly... yes of course he could but it's called professional courtesy. Morrison had been warming up and keeping sharp in the dressing room for a hours before this bout, Tomashek had less than 120 mins prep time from getting the tap on the shoulder. Morrison knew that he couldn't just bomb his head into the 6th row. Don't forget Tomashek was an awkward fighter, those saying 'imagine he was in shape'.... he was, his nickname was doughboy with a record of 35-10(at the time of the fight, later rising to 53-12) but that doesn't reflect he was a very seasoned journeyman, specifically because he was so awkward.

    which is why that doctor stopped the fight after the knockdown to end round 5 . You could tell that even Tommy thought the stoppage was bad. I don't think anyone expected that fight to last more than 2 minutes. I still think Tommy would have won anyway, but the way the doctor jumped in to stop that fight so quickly shows that the WBO was no way going to let Tommy lose before he fought Lennox if they could help it. They would not get the same chance in Tommy's next glorified tune up fight/title defense against Michael Bentt.

    What a classless crowd, don't they realize that Tomashek was trying to put on a show for them and that without him, there would not even had a fight? Then throwing debris at the end, seriously? Those people are trash. Also I liked Tommy a lot, he was really entertaining, but the fact that he got hit so much by a mediocre boxer shows how poor of a defence he had and it ended up being a preview of what happened when he faced more serious competition with decent punching power. Which is too bad, because he had a masterful performance against Foreman a few months earlier that showed that he had the skills to box and avoid punches. Unfortunately, in most other fights he was just careless and relied only his punching power throwing wildly leaving himself open for counters and gassing himself out.

    0:00 Amazing how someone with a winning record like that is seen as someone who wouldn't have a chance against elites like Tommy!!!1 I mean when I used to play online Chess, my win percentage was just over 50%, and I'd played maybe a thousand games or so!!!! So if I'd been playing against someone with his record, I'd have been expecting to lose!!!!!!
