Good point. This could have been more than a fluff piece. Dr. Ken Berry would have been a better choice to show how the body responds to each food choice based on science and what the body actually needs. It is about fuel for our bodies and not how animals feel and cruelty: those are deflections from purpose.

Veganism is an important issue! It would be impossible to avoid 2 degrees of global warming without ending animal agriculture as we know it. Animal ag is the top cause of deforestation, habitat loss and biodiversity loss, is a major threat of antibiotic resistance, is a major threat of zoonotic diseases, epidemics and pandemics, is a significant cause of water pollution and ocean dead zones. The commercial fishing industry is a direct attack on biodiversity and also a significant contributor to climate change. Animal ag needlessly wastes a huge amount of natural resources like fresh water.

Aah, but that's because the longest lived peoples are in the wealthier, most developed countries. So are most vegans, because good luck being a vegan in the Congo, Northern Siberia, the Central African Republic or Borneo (for example), where basically anything dead is a feast. It's only the spoiled brats in Europe, Australasia and North America, or the wealthier minorities in other countries who can afford to choose to be vegan or dairy free or sugar free or gluten free or something intolerant or whatever*. ;-) *I mean people who do this as a lifestyle choice, not those who genuinely have these allergies. ;-)

Because they would look a bit silly if they tried to argue that the other kind of plant based food was unhealthy/bland/unpopular. That other kind of food? - fruit, veg, nuts, grains, beans. It's what you do with it that counts, but I accept not everyone has the time, energy or experience. More lessons in school might help with that perhaps?

I eat plant-based but I don't care what someone else eats. Don't eat ultraprocessed food, sugar, fake meat or fake cheese, or other garbage. Eat real plant-based food, and stop pretending it's "murder" that someone catches a fish and enjoys it, or has a beautifully made hamburger or high quality steak. The animals are bred for that purpose, and they wouldn't even be alive if it wasn't for the purpose of food. It is no different than growing plants, which for some odd reason no one is upset about.

It was a terrible anecdote. I’ve been in to the supermarket plenty of times and there’s been a small mountain of cow’s milk cream that has been reduced to clear because it was expiring the same day. What does that mean? No one is consuming cream, or maybe the store just overstocked?

I have a question for vegans here: Obviously if you pull a carrot out of the ground, killing it, it doesn't know anything about it. Of course not; it's a carrot! If you HUMANELY slaughter an animal (say, a pig), it dies instantly and doesn't know anything about it. Neither "living being" knows anything about its death, and neither suffers. This is for different reasons, but the outcome is the same. So where is the moral difference here, in vegans' opinions? I am genuinely strongly against factory farming, but what most vegans seem to conveniently forget is that meat does not have to come from factory farms. It can be wild or farmed extensively and humanely. And on the ludicrous argument that meat production is ruining our planet, which do you think has a higher carbon footprint: fresh, humanely produced, grass-fed REAL milk from a local farmer, or fake, foul-tasting "milk" from intensively farmed soya, grown in some far-flung continent with unchecked deforestation, environmental destruction and child/slave labour, frozen, and then transported across thousands of miles of ocean on diesel-guzzling cargo ships, sealed in plastic vacuum-packed packaging, transported in lorries for hundreds of miles and sold in supermarkets to all you vegans. And that's really better for the environment? Seriously?! ;-)

Most lean meat is actually very bland, what makes it taste good are the preservatives, the additives and the sugar. If his argument is about making vegan food taste good then the same is true for the meat he loves, secondly taste is not a good indicator to whether it is justified, people used to put cocaine in foods and feed it to their children, when it was banned it was replaced with processed sugar and MSG which is also very harmful but tastes good.

I give a few more years untill Piers Morgan have serious health issues due to high blood pressure, cholesterol , clogged vains, due to his meat diet. I am surprised that no one ever says how out of shape and unhealthy 90% of meat eaters are and that is a shame. I have worked in healthcare for over twenty years and most all the patients that came into the ER and other health care facilities were meat eaters, not Vegans, even in the gyms and in school, the overweight and unhealthy people were over 90% meat eaters. As far as Animals eating other animals is concerned, what is natural in nature is all things that are free of human interference, invasion, imposition, and intrusion. Meat is unnatural in nature, for meat is man made. No matter where you look in nature, you will never be able to find meat growing naturally from the Earth’s ground, soil, sand, or from any tree, seed, bush, or natural waterway and landscape. It is natural and normal in nature for non-human animals to eat other animals because non-human animals are exhibiting their own natural ability to act in a natural way, but since God naturally created a human being to hold a higher mind with higher reasoning, higher consciousness, higher intellect, higher awareness, and higher problem-solving abilities, then it is unnatural for a human being to Imitate, copy, emulate, and mimic the lower, unreasoning, and impulsive, behavior of lower cognitive beings that have no higher awareness, or reflection, concerning their actions. Imitating, copying, mimicking, and emulating the behavior of lower cognitive beings that have no higher awareness, or reflection, concerning their actions is the absence of natural superior human intellect.

This exact selfishness Piers is showing here (and on other topics) is what is killing our planet and it is a shame for the whole humanity and our highly praised superior ability to be compassionate and logical. He just exchanged his rationality and willpower for mere pleasure and greed.

So other than the usual suspects, most commonly fish, lambs, cows, pigs, chickens, ducks and a few other of your victims and their secretions, the world is a cornucopia of food that the vegan can choose from. So to say "the food" simply doesn't make sense. Do you eat fruit? That's vegan. What about vegetables or beans? That's vegan. Legumes, lentils, those are vegan. Let me debunk this real quick. There are 80billion land animals murdered each year for human consumption. All those animals need to be fed. So the vast majority of crops are being grown to be fed to farmed animals. So even if you are a plant rights activist you still contribute to far more crop death then any vegan could ever. Between 70 billion and 150 billion animals are killed per year directly so humans can eat meat. And of the 7.3 billion animals killed in order to produce crops, much of those crops are necessarily fed to the animals eaten by humans.
