She's cute and has charisma, but physically looks NOTHING like WW. She's not even that good an actress. They should've casted someone more appropriate like Katheryn Winnick or someone like Kate Beckinsale was in Underworld.

So the fact that she set such a tremendous goal for herself, which technically wasn't a prerequisite, and worked this hard to accomplish it, says a lot.

Thats beacuse this movie was based upon the new era of games of the TR. TR 2013 was an awful remake. ROTR was Good and Better. But, still being a remake of the original. Not the original.

But still I dont think her back could even be really massive, considering her frame, and after all she's a gal - unless you are a professional climber or something similar

The respect they pay to the first game in the reboot series is super well done

I really liked how in the movie they didn't portray Lara with super-human strength as many modern action movies do when making a badass woman hero. Alicia is a very small woman, probably only weighs 120lbs at most, so you would expect her to struggle fighting a man with almost 50lbs of muscle more than her. I liked how she managed to defeat her opponents using skill rather than unrealistic strength. EDIT: After making this comment some time ago on my phone, I decided to come back and see what people were saying. Apparently my phone autocorrected Lara's name. Oops. Didn't mean to upset Lara Craft fans 😛

That might happen as the producer of the game Square Enix, bought the movie rights when they expired. Smart long-term move. Now they can release a sequel without having to get permission from the previous copyright holder.

I didn’t like it because even though it was based off the reboot game, they completely messed up the established canon and changed the story, making it worse, not better. They had such good source material to work from, and instead they went off track, taking the biggest elements and twisting them in ways that didn’t make sense and just rehashed tired tropes. It made it seem like a really generic action film with an unrealistic storyline rather than a unique take on established mythology like the game did. It was disrespectful to the source material and fans. Plus they slapped a forgettable soundtrack on it, not even recalling the theme music from the reboot games. They should have made it entirely its own thing, rather than bastardizing a beautiful piece of artwork.

If they can nail the script for the second movie, they’d have a serious major franchise on their hands. Alicia was perfect but the script was underdone on the first flick. It’s unfortunate to see the character judged on her bust size by some knuckle draggers in the comments. Any fan of the series knows the new Lara has an athletic build, a la the new iterations of the video game, and closer to the real physique she would have to possess in order to accomplish the physical feats required from the character. A busty playboy bunny-type would look inauthentic.

She never looked like a playboy bunny type, besides obviously exaggerated breasts, and nobody wants her to be. She was tall and athletic looking with strong legs, someone who could actually take on male opponents being of a similar stature. Someone like that should be in the role instead of a small lady, because realistically this Lara is still not beating those dudes in a fight.

She is amazing the movie was amazing and the movie left it at a really good cliffhanger ‘ill take two’ And ‘jobs to do’ is amazing too

A lot of people keep saying how bad the story is but I think the writers did a damn good job considering that they had to take a 6 hour long video game and fit it into an hour and a half long movie. And then they had to balance keeping enough of the story from the game while also changing enough of the story so that we don't know exactly what happens next. I think they did awesome. I love the movie and I love Alicia Vikander. She is the perfect Lara.

Ugh, hard work for the whole three months, amazing!

A great actress for a very very enjoyable movie. I hope in a sequel.

This is the way. Hire a kickass woman to play a kickass role. It is called credibility. The story of Lara Croft fails if she is not a credible super woman. It is nice to see the dedication Alicia Viklander brings to the table. It makes all the difference.

True, I did feel a bit exhausted watching this video. The movie wasn't bad, I liked it although it seems like they rushed it into production too quickly. Should have redone the script a little so we could learn more about her childhood and her teen years.

Great look for an action female character. This is what I expected from wonder woman, but we got a model instead. Haven't seen the Tomb Raider movie but I have a lot of respect for Alicia for all the effort she's put into this. And not just the training, she really looks like she's slamming hard into walls and stuff.

now i wanna workout. why do i always watch these motivating videos at night....

To me, they represent different times in Lara's life. Angelina is the older Lara and Alicia is the young Lara when she was just starting her tomb-raiding career.

I was really doubtful of the choice of actress for the role of Lara and even hated a little bit on internet about it, but in the end she convinced me she was perfect for the role. Too bad the movie was ok at best.

I was expecting more from the movie... lara croft's game in ps3 was awsome...

She made the movie enjoyable. I don't think it was a bad film, but it was just very plain. The script felt like every action adventure movie ever and it definitely didn't reinvent the wheel, but I really liked Lara and it made me invested enough to watch a sequel if we ever get one. Seriously, she held this whole project together.

Vikander is on a whole other level in terms of acting ability, she's one of the absoolute best female actors in Hollywood while Jolie was casted for ...other reasons. That said, i enjoyed the Jolie Tombrayda

To be fair Lara from the 2013 was not this ripped, she was just an ordinary girl who liked to explore. Its not accurate in the slightest, Alicia here is more like Lara from Shadow of the Tomb Raider. But everything else you mention about Alicia is spot on i agree that she was a good choice to play Lara nonetheless.
