    @@DonoZeek His *job* is to be friendly to whoever walks in, find out who they are (by, like, asking, instead of assuming), and then (still friendly) give them directions on how to proceed. He blew it by 1) assuming who she was by outward appearances, and 2) being condescending. Not something to get fired for (either case was rather mild), but definitely something to keep in mind for the next time someone wanders in that isn't dressed to kill. Appearances can be deceiving.

    @@DevSolar First of all, his job is not to be friendly. His job is to gather information and treat them accordingly. Which is what he did. Secondly, the building and the worker seem to fit a High-class business building, if you don't wear the proper attire, they can assume things, by right. Lastly, Appearances can be deceiving, but it's the business world. You dress to impress. Why do you think they wear suits? Pls try to understand how that world works so you won't judge them too quickly.

    Alicia was perfect for the role. Alicia put her heart and soul into becoming Lara Croft. She performed exceptionally. It was the writing, lore and world development that was a bit off. They made Lara out to be a bit of a delinquent that had no passions in the beginning. The Lara in the game has a Ph.D in archeology. She met a friend in uni named Sam that told her stories of her Japanese ancestry. That set Lara on a path to researching the Sun Queen that Sam was supposedly descended from. This research turned into a big expedition and adventure that Lara went on with her mentor, her best friends Sam and Jonah and another archeologist that she'd idolized once upon a time. Lara didn't learn how to fight at some random boxing gym. She learned from that mentor who was her father's best friend; a former British armed forces sniper named Conrad Roth. He's the man that moulded Lara into a badass. Taught her how to shoot, train in archery, survival skills, gutting game, hiking Kilimanjaro, army hand-to-hand and rock-climbing. I believe in taking artistic liberties and changing the story around a bit to fit a movie instead of a 30 hour video game but not the very fabric of her life path. Her Dad was obsessed with studying immortality but he never made any East Asian connections. She did that because of Sam. He also ended his own life when she was a young teenager. Shame of being mocked for his research. Each of these things that were changed in the movie fundamentally changes who Lara is which I believe takes things too far. Her passion lies in studying the past and using that knowledge to make the world a better place. The drive she has also stems from wanting to be close to her Dad who was always too busy save a few precious moments. She wants to find vindication for him and give him justice by proving his naysayers wrong. Conrad Roth was the Dad she needed as a teenager but her insatiable curiosity and intelligence comes from Richard Croft. I just personally think they changed her too much to fit their movie. They were lucky they casted Alicia because she was truly fantastic. The film could've been pretty bad otherwise. I only like this film because of Alicia's perfection.

  • @PumpkinHoard

    I'm going to guess you've never been in a fight. A 5ft woman an amazing fighter? Nope. At that size you can train for years and most men will be able to shrug off your blows like they're nothing. A woman that size doesn't have the mass or muscle to do serious damage to a grown man. I don't think you know the difference a foot in height, male skeletal structure and a lifetime of testosterone in your veins creates. A woman that size isn't going to be able to make much use of grappling either, as again the average man is so much bigger and stronger that she wouldn't be able manoeuvre them at all and even if she did get in position to lock in a submission the man will almost certainly have the brute strength to break out of it in seconds. In short, her punches will do next to nothing and the average man would be able to knock her on her ass (or out cold) with a single blow. She won't be able to use any kind of grappling as it would simply be suicide, she can't hold the man in place and he can likely pin both her arms with one of his. There is a damn good reason every combat sport out there has weight divisions. I've been punched by drunken women on a night out. Does nothing really. Once when I was about 15 this girl from a particularly nasty local family was pissed up and decided to repeatedly punch me in the face while I was waiting for a kebab. Couldn't do anything because her ex con brothers and boyfriend were present so i just sat there and took it until my food was ready. I eventually got my food and left, honestly don't think my face was even sore at the end of that. And she was a nasty piece of work who kicked the shit out of a fair few girls in the area. I could not have done that if it had been a guy punching me. I'm 5'11, not particularly muscular but not scrawny either. My only experience with fighting guys MUCH bigger than me wasn't a serious fight, it was just me and a few mates got drunk and started scrapping for a laugh. One guy I didn't hang out with much was there, the dude was about 6'6 and a bit overweight, not really muscular. At one point I got a run up and did a flying shoulder barge into him. I fucking bounced off and he moved a couple of inches. I probably weighed 12-13 stone. He was probably about 18. That weight difference rendered me basically unable to move him. The same happened with grappling with the guy. The size of his frame plus the weight advantage meant he could just fucking manhandle me. And that's 2 guys around 18 years old, a bit of fighting experience on both sides but no real training and a 7 inch height difference. A buddy of mine who was an overweight 6'2 did similar things to us when messing about in high school and that's only 3 inches difference. You're talking about a 5ft woman fighting men with a good foot height advantage, plus the massive advantages of a more dense skeleton, larger fists for greater blunt force impacts, at least a few stone heavier and more powerful muscles due to the influence of testosterone. A 6ft woman with training is still at a massive disadvantage against a similar sized untrained man, but the possibility of winning exists as long as she's careful not to let him get a hold of her. But a 5 footer? You're fucked before it even starts, don't even try.

  • @orlaw.8213

    @orlaw.8213

    6 жыл бұрын

    NorfookianJesus Wow, I see because you had issues with a bigger guy, you want to put down smaller women. Eh AGAIN, the world strongest man one year was 5ft3, yes smaller can be a disadvantage but also an advantage in a fight. A lower sense of gravity means often more agility and the lower sense of gravity can do wonders for balance, these things can be just as important in a fight as a bigger build. A lot of female MMA fighters are quite small in frame and height, fighting women yes but could definitely put up a strong fight against the average male on the street.

  • @PumpkinHoard

    @PumpkinHoard

    6 жыл бұрын

    I'm not putting down women, I'm just aware of reality. Agility isn't worth a damn if your blows don't do any damage, or at least enough to stop your opponent. That's something even trained women will struggle with vs men, while most untrained men will only need 1 solid blow vs a woman. Being punched by a man is a whole different world to being punched by a woman. Agility is useless without power. Add to that the longer reach of a larger males arms, he can land punches and kicks from beyond the womans striking range. And she really shouldn't be rushing in too close. Turing it into a grappling situation is an instant lose. Also, something to bear in mind with men, virtually all of us have some experience in fighting, trained or not. We grow up scrapping with each other for a laugh. If we have a brother most of us will have been kicking the shit out of each other from time to time. That often gets real nasty in my experience. Off the top of my head I cannot think of a single guy I know who hasn't had to defend themselves in at least one or 2 real fights. Long story short, even untrained guys usually know how to fight, at least to an extent. I'm not saying winning is impossible (though a trained 5ft woman against an average 5'11-6ft guy is nearly a guaranteed win for the guy) just VERY unlikely. The guy in this situation only needs that 1 solid blow or to get a hold of the woman and it's over. Also, who is this 5ft3 world strongest man? The shortest guy I've found in my cursory google search was 5'8, and he never actually won. Not saying you're lying, just curious. Would make sense if that was in the early days or just one year when there wasn't much competition. Because no way in hell was that 5'3 guy "worlds strongest man" in reality. Not even close. In the same way a human will never have the physical strength of an elephant, a 5'3 man is never going to have the strength of most 6'5 guys of a similar level of fitness. There's just so much more muscle and mass. There's the occasional genetic quirk that makes some people much stronger than most, but 99.9999% of the time a bigger guy will be stronger.

    Now let's switch the roles and make Lara a male for a minute, now let's modify the title: "Landis Croft shutting up women in Tomb Raider (2018)" Boy I would love to see the reaction to that kind of a title.

    LMAO wut? He was just pointing out a simple fact rather than shitting on something. I guess women are the only ones who can have revenge fantasies like this?

    “Landis Croft being sassy toward women who underestimate him, don’t know who he is, endanger his family, and steal his backpack”... nope, don’t see anything wrong with that

    hollywoodshopaholic Except people wouldn't look at it like that, would they? What I was doing was pointing out an unfortunate circumstance of modern life, and how hypocritical it is. A title like the poster has on their video is considered "empowering" toward women, but if it was about a man, then it would be viewed as sexist. Just like how if a woman hits a man then it's fine, because he can take it and he probably deserves it, but if a man hits a woman, then it's abuse and he should burn in hell. Same thing goes for a lot of things in this day and age between men and women, and quite frankly, if there was a title like this on a video with a male character, I wouldn't be any less critical of it.

    Man she is so beautiful. I wish they would have done a Tomb Raider trilogy with her.
