Tom Talks: Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A very special 'Tom Talks' episode.
The Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa #0704 is one of the worlds most important cars, many believe the ultimate survivor and today you're going to hear all about it.
This is the only unrestored 250 Testa Rossa in existence but also the second prototype of the model, an ex-works car that was driven by the greatest drivers of the period and won at least 19 races throughout its life.
It was donated to The Henry Ford Museum in 1967 where it would reside for over 30 years.
Remarkably, the car retains all of its original components including the chassis, body, engine and transmission and has never sustained any accidents of any real consequence.
Tom Hartley Jnr first sold this car back in 2014 and we are pleased to be able to announce that we have recently sold her once again.
We hope you enjoy the episode as much as we enjoyed filming it, this particular car is very important to us all at THJ.

I've only ever seen one 250TR...is was on a trailer being pulled by a Merc 500SEC at a constant 90mph. It was 1986 and within about 20 miles of Modena. Some things you never forget.

I feel most people does not understand passion about cars. They simple can believe things you will do to preserve them, even at the point of not using it. I find no words to explain it. What I am sure, is that if there is a a possibility to explain it, Tom has it for sure. Thanks Tom for sharing your feelings and passion, as well as this unique cars.

I did "enjoy hearing about it",....very much,.... I couldn't stop listening to your presentation. I was an "army brat" American living in Germany in the late 50's and went to Nurburgring several times and Le Mans once and saw phenomenal cars and legendary drivers. Ferrari's, Maserati's, Mercedes, Jags and Aston's. Fangio, Moss, Peter Collins, the Marquis De Portago and others etc. I lucked out. I'll never forget those experiences. I liked the way that you leaned on the car, put your hands on it and sat in it. Fitting behavior for the car itself. A well used and respected old friend of value and worth.

Today I am at the @CavallinoClassic at The Breakers in Palm Beach for the weekend. This car is prominently displayed on the main lawn. Thankfully it is near the public area so I could see it up close, as the event was done private this year due to covid. Thanks to this video Tom made, which I watched months ago, I was happy to answer people’s questions about the history and provenance of the car, as if I were the owner LOL. What is amazing and horrifying, is that some woman who was touching other cars on the lawn as she posed in front of each of them for pictures, actually sat on the right front fender of this car to take a picture. The entire crowd gasped. Thankfully there was no damage done. It’s incredible the ignorance of people, particularly at the most prestigious Ferrari event in the country. Aside from that, what an incredible opportunity to see this car in person. I joke that Tom has the easiest job in the world (jk) because when you are dealing at this level, you can almost feel the history of the car while in its presence. It practically speaks to you. Thank you Tom for educating me on this car and many others and sharing your passion with the rest of us.

This is a fascinating video with the details of the car and its history. I remember the car well at Pebble. Honestly, the Gothic numbers were an eye-catcher and so interesting to hear they were the numbers for an American driver. I assumed Von Tripps or another German drove the car! It definitely stood out as the only warrior in the group. Tom, thanks so much for this and all of the "Tom Talks" are great!

Funny how with vintage race cars attention is drawn to the dent, and the repair of it being visible is seen as a positive. All about provenance and history with such cars. Interesting that after Le Mans it reverted to pontoon fender configuration, I guess it had better brake cooling for the twistier circuits, or something like that. Lovely car, look better without pontoon spec, albeit slightly less distinctive.

Tom I admire you so much and I am not jealous man I could be but its pure admiration I have towards you. Many people sell vintage/classic cars but the selection that you seem to exhibit all seem to be so unique in some shape or form. I am a massive car nut every video I sit down to watch has a history to absorb i will be honest I am not in the financial position at this time to purchase any of your sculptured works of art but mark my words as soon as that day comes I will be jumping on the first flight to come and visit. Spending such a vast amount of money on a car you need confidence that the cars provenance is correct and listening to your passion i would be 100% sure that you did your homework!! Not even mentioning the fact that you have probably known the car or people that you know have known the car from nearly its manufacturer date. Credit must be given when credits due....! 🙂 My first classic from your collection at the minute would have to be the sold Dino. Respect Tom Jnr From Belfast 🇮🇹 🇮🇹 🇬🇧 🇬🇧

Thank you for this. I love a 250 TR but don’t know much about them. Will be watching this a couple of times. Here are more questions for your next Tom Talks: What is the difference between a 275 GTS and 330 GTS, and which one you prefer? What are the differences between classic Range Rovers? I see classic Range Rovers selling between £25,000 and £200,000. What are Tom’s personal cars? What is going with the values of D Types? I see that there is a D Type for sale right now for £2M but you said you turned down an offer for your D Type last year for $8m. And do you still have ex. Lord Laidlaw’s DB4 GT in stock? Thank you for another video!
