Tom T Hall -- That's How I Got To Memphis [REACTION/RATING]

Don is a life coach, and this is what happens when a life coach and philosopher does reactions to traditional country music. Enjoy!

A Tom T song that I think you would really enjoy is "Greed kills more people than whiskey", uniquely written as always with Tom
Tom t halls greatest songs IWANT TO SEE THE PARADE and I HOPE IT RAINS AT MY FUNERAL
In my opinion, Tom was the best story teller in all genres.
I agree with Terry, Tom T. was a great song writer and singer and it's a shame that we are losing all of the traditional country singers and song writer's we have very few of them left, hey Don, I would like to request a song by Vern GOSDIN, called "IF YOU'RE GOING DO ME WRONG DO IT RIGHT" A great song by Vern. Thanks Terry, for the request keep it up Don.
Morning Don life is good leave fri am taps in bathroom broke this morning guess the Gods didn't think I had enough to do.... keep your graditude higher than your expectations... HAKAD
Charley Crockett did an amazing cover of this, definitely worth a listen.
TomT is a master songwriter and performer. This is a great song, I love the instrumentation that really compliments the lyrics and Tom's wonderful voice. Thanks Mike Savage for this brilliant request, and thanks Don for another terrific reaction!
Don. You're such a great guy, you have to have someone that's good to you. She's out there!!

@saundraWeber4395 Thank you for the kind words--I'm practically blushing over here!!
When I was six-years-old, I loved Tom T. Hall and asked my dad to buy his albums for me. Concerning this song I asked him, 'What kind of disease is Memphis?' Confused, my dad asked why, and I said: 'He's saying things like, "I haven't eaten a bite or slept for three days and nights. That's how I got too memphis. That's how I got TOO memphis."' Forty-five years later, my dad and I still laugh at this; and now so do my kids because I told them this story, too.
You, sir, just made my day! I'm glad you enjoyed it and got it the way I got it! Simple can be brilliant!
Bobby Bare had the original hit with this song back in 1970s, but Tom wrote it. Great performance!
We grew up with some of the best singers/ songwriters in Country Music. So sad that most of them are gone now. Back then Country Music was the best kept secret. Non Country fans would make fun of it. They didn't really listen to the story that was being told. A person who listened to rock told me one time they didn't listen to the words, just the beat of the music. In Classic Country it's all about the words with the music adding to the story.
Can never go wrong with Tom T Hall . Thanks for the request and reaction.
I swear that Tom T. could pick up a guitar and recite the alphabet song, and make it a moving story well-told. Damn, I've always loved that guy!
Good morning Don, everyone on the channel knows of my love for Tom T. IMHO there is not a better singer/songwriter, you can argue that a lot are just as good, but there's none better. This song does use a repetitive chorus and it works in this song. Many Tom T. songs do not employee this technique, which I think k makes it more effective when he does use it. Another of my favorite Tom T. songs that uses this style of writing is "I Miss A Lot Of Trains". Great request Mike S. and good reaction Don.----#UTRCM

Mike, how can you choose the best? Tom T is great but there are too many great ones for me to pick the best. That would make my head hurt ! Can’t blame you for picking Tom T but my mind is too small to handle pressure of choosing the best 🤪
❤
One of my favorite country songs ever. 8.9 was fair. That's banger land. Such a great song. (8.7-9.5 are bangers on my scale lol. Anything higher is perfect) 🤘
Absolutely love this song. There's a great version of this song by Jeff Daniels and the rest of the cast of the show "The Newsroom." Tom T. Hall was a hell of a songwriter. Also, Don, I love the shirt. Reminds me of a Josh Ritter lyric: "we are all half crazy and all at least half alright."

My bad had a senior minute there. I realized after replying you were talking about Jeff Daniels, the actor, and the singer I've recently heard of is actually Jesse Daniel. If you haven't heard of him you should check him out.---#UTRCM
Please do To A Sleeping Beauty by Jimmy Dean
Great song. You should listen to Deryl Dodd's version of this song. It's just as good.
