Tom T. has written so many great songs that were hits for some of the greatest artists in country music.
What a tear jerker! The man sure knew how to pen a song.
I owned an album by him whose title described him perfectly, "storyteller, poet, and philosopher: he's all three!
Check out Tom T.’s “I wish I Loved Somebody Else”
I'm sorry David he couldn't find your song but it was lucky for me. "Second Handed Flowers" is in my top 5 Tom T. Hall songs. However I have a different take on it than you Don and probably most people. Me and one of my best friends have disagreed about it for along time. I believe Tom thought Suzy did not know through the years that she was always his second choice that is why he felt a since of shame when he entered her room. In the end when she thanked him "for the second gender flowers" that was her way of saying that she knew all along what the deal was. Anyway great song, great reaction Don. My very favorite Tom T. Hall song is "I want to see the Parade." I would love for you to react to that one Don. I think you will find it very interesting. Hope everyone has a great day and keeps RN2C!!!---#UTRCM
Tom T can take my anywhere, even places I don't want to go. A wonderful request, David and a great reaction.

@Carolinasbeauty Hi!!! In my comment I mentioned this was in my top 5. When I thought about it it was really hard to come up with a Top 5 because Tom has so many great songs, but here goes 1) I Wanna See the Parade 2) Trip to Hayden 3) Mama Bake a Pie 4) I Hope it Rains at my Funeral 5) Second Handed Flowers. Also great request the other day with Vinces- Pocket Full of Gold. I had intended to comment that day but I have been having a few physical issues and just didn't feel up to commenting that day.---#UTRCM
This song reminds me of something Red Sovine would have recorded
I really like your comments on the song and insights on life. Thanks for reacting to the great Tom T. Hall.
He didnt know until she was dying that she always knew that he only came to her when he couldnt have the one he really wanted. He felt guilty because he finally realized she knew he was using her. She had always been second best to him and he finally had to face it.
Wow!! This one took me on quiet a journey...That one really hit home, yet never been in that place but it hit home.
A new Tom T song for me and what a song it was. Thanks for the reactions
Tom had some surprise endings to his songs. The minute I heard this, I got a big lump in my throat. He does another song called "Homecoming," which I think everyone would enjoy. It's told from the standpoint of a country singer who stops home to see his Dad. I won't say anymore.

I love Homecoming. The song is sadly relevant to many of us.
Tom T is incredible. On a more conventional tone. Do his song. I miss a lot of trains.

I also like that one. Also Iris Cement does a fantastic cover of it.
Wasn’t the song I requested but it’s a good one. Tom T. Sure had a way with words and a melody. Have a great day, Don.😊

I agree with everything you said. I would also add that my own personal interpretation has been that whereas he didn't ever want anything more than just a friendship, she may have been wishing that he would eventually want more than that; and yet, she still understood and forgave him for not having romantic feelings for her because she actually did love him. I could be wrong, but that's just the feeling I've always gotten from this song.
Try "Turn it on! Turn it on! Turn it on!"
He'll rip your heart right out. Still haven't forgiven him for committing suicide
