Tom Mesereau's First Extensive Interview After "Leaving Neverland" Airs on HBO

This is Part 1 of Mediaite Senior Columnist John Ziegler's exclusive, and purposely unedited, interview with Michael Jackson's criminal defense attorney Tom Mesereau. This is the first extensive interview that Mesereau has done since the movie "Leaving Neverland," in which Wade Robson and James Safechuck accuse Jackson of horrendous sexual abuse about 25-30 years ago, aired on HBO. Mesereau goes into great detail about why he strongly believes that these accusers are not to be believed. The full 45-minute interview can be heard starting April 27,2019 via Ziegler's podcast, which can be found at www.FreeSpeechBroadcasting.com

If we start the precident of "you weren't there" then using ur logic nothing in the world happened unless you were there or it's on video. Hell today people deny what they see with their own eyes. An FBI investigation would be a waste of all resources simply bc WR did a phenomenal job of discrediting himself with every word he spewed out with his forked tongue IN ON! I was beyond dumbfounded when ANYONE ON EARTH actually bought into 4(?) HOURS OF HEARSAY, LIES & IMPOSSIBLE FOLK TALES from which skeptics, the Jacksons & MJs very dedicated "fans" pulled out 60+ lies & impossible claims, such as Michael NOT even being in the U.S. on dates that they pulled out of thin air (& it their claims go downhill much further than THAT)! Major retail chains & music stores/sites pulled ALL MJ PRODUCTS & MUSIC OFF SHELVES, the MEDIA is drooling & batshit crazy for months! Fellow musicians (who have never & will never be in the same galaxy in terms of MJs multiple talents, brilliance, adored by millions, generosity, dedication OR WEALTH,) turned on MJ in flash & WILL regret their ignorance fairly soon.... WR & JS were both facing or in dire straights since before they filed lawsuits. They are both pretty much ready to slice their throats by now. The bottom line: they proved to be financially desperate, liars, scammers & STUPID NOBODIES that haven't had a single attempt to file suit accepted. They don't need to be investigated bc they are OPEN BOOK CON-FAILURES! 😉✌🏼😉

Diogo The God we’ll I respect both men highly, but Tom can’t say anything bad about Mike, he got him free of terrible allegations, I mean No matter what he would always defendMJ! The reason I think we should pay attention to Tom ad really believe him here is very simple, he defends Michael every time when he really doesn’t have to, he could just stay away, he doesn’t need money nor fame, u mean everyone knows who Tom is , it’s just outstanding that he has no fear to ruin his reputation by defending j, he is very brave and again he doesn’t have to do this at all, as a after of fact lawyers after the case is finished tendtk stay away n say nothing if smth else or any accusations against him former clients occur! It’s very unusual for a such a famous person and lawyer as Tom M to keep defending Jackson, if anything he is really risking his reputation here, that’s why I believe him. He does it I feel like on personal level, u can tell He REALLY BELIEVES MJ was innocent! Thanks to both so much, it’s nice to see more more ppl realizing they have been brainwashed from every single corner for months, and now finally they can see how yeah there are ppl that will lie about stuff like that like no business, and WADE AND lil Jimmycrackhead the side kick are just sick twisted liars with horrible Dan the egghead.. This would make the 2005 aquittal an unsafe verdict. Mesereau has stated that MJ would have gone down if Wade had testified against MJ in 2005. I doubt he also wants to add a pedophile to his list of defendants after defending rapist Bill Cosby. Mesereau has plenty of reasons to keep defending MJ - including his reputation.

Mesereau is the man. I believe his every word. The critics say MJ escaped in 2005 because he had the best defence attorney. The reality is he was vindicated because D.A Sneddon was a crook, the families were opportunists, the timeline was flawed and Mesereau exposed all the holes in a way few others could. I remember the 2005 trial (31st January to 13th June) vividly, the allegations were made public 14 months prior on 18th November 2003 and the initial charges were filed 18th December 2003 before new charges under a new timeline (the first was proven false) were issued on 30th April 2004. The media savaged Michael Jackson in the trial and the only media I recall believing his innocence was Geraldo Rivera of FOX News. But an impartial jury still found the Pop King innocent. In US law, the only justice available to Wade and James is a civil suit. The US justice system provides for compensation as a form of justice. Victims of crime in the US can obtain both restitution and civil damages from their abuser. It is legal and common to do so, which is why the law exists. A financial claim is not evidence of a false accusation. (link: victimsofcrime.org/help-for-crime-victims/get-help-bulletins-for-crime-victims/restitution )

While Jackson was out of town, the arvizo boys were witnessed on one occasion watching porn on cable TV just like all young teenage boys would do. Jackson wasn't even in California. The arvizo boys were living at neverland like a home. And Jackson had one playboy magazine for himself in some locked drawer or something. Big deal. So does my dad. I was in the courtroom for Michael Jackson's 2005 trial. I was there for the prosecution and defense's closing arguments. I wrote a 3000 word summary of what I saw in court, including the wording on slides which were not included in the court transcripts. I published it online. At that point I was literally the only person on the planet accurately reporting, in detail, what really happened in the courtroom. And I'm not a journalist. Journalists I sat next to in court had literally no interest in the truth of Michael's innocence. One told me how tired they were after being sent to cover the story at the last minute. Me: So what do you make of the trial so far? Journo: He's guilty! Me: How do you make that assessment? Journo: I don't know. I haven't followed the trial, but he's weird So someone was sent to report on a case they had zero knowledge of, already prepared to present a coloured narrative based on their own prejudice. That was the quality of journalism as a whole regarding the case. Fast forward to today, and Michael is now being purely tried in the media, which is like looking for light in a black hole.

He would give his bed to the children to sleep, & he slept on a sleep bag on the floor. 3)This concept of "sharing one's bed with children is inappropriate" is a cultural norm abided by some people, mostly white Americans (that's what I've come to discover). It's not prevalent from where I come from. Neither was it a big issue to the Jackson's while they were growing up. Sleeping in bed, means to sleep, there's nothing sexual there.

I hope the estate are truly committed to clearing his name.

I am currently reading the trial transcripts because I wanted to get all the facts before I followed the mob and "cancelled" MJ. I'm currently into Gavin Arvizo's 3rd day and I can't believe there was even a trial for this. He contradicts himself and his siblings, who testified a few days before him, over some of the most basic information. I will read the whole thing, of course, but at this point, I understand why Meserau says that he didn't even think he needed witnesses of the defense. Throughout the trial, the media covered MJ's trial as being a slam dunk conviction. No other possible outcome. It wasn't. The Arvizo kids' testimonies are crumbling. They contradict themselves and each other. Read it. It reads like a story. It's public record, and its meant to be read by a jury of peers. Can't wait to get to Wade Robson's part.

His testimony starts on March 9th, 2005, right after his brother Star's, and ends on March 15th. March 9th and 10th is Tom Sneddon questioning Gavin, with a brief interruption during which Sneddon questions another witness for a short while. Cross examination by Meserau begins at the end of March 10th.

Oprah's behavior disgusts me! (And before Oprah's betrayal, it was Diane Sawyer & Martin Bashir!) And, "powerful white dudes"...? So you want to blame white America? Go tell that to MJ's millions of white fans. I'm one of them. I've been a fan of his and the Jacksons since I was a kid. Seriously, I believe there has been a lot of evil that has plagued MJ since he was young, and the more famous, rich, talented and generous he became the more vulnerable he became. This world is very hard and crewel, especially to those who attract attention. He was such a precious soul. My heart goes out to his family and true friends.

I do believe that we're all responsible for the material we watch, listen to and read... and use to judge others by. If we don't buy and consume the garbage that's generated at the expense of others... the garbage that's used to manipulate our hearts and minds, then there's no money in it for the media. God bless those who still use their own hearts and minds to analyze fact and reason. I like MJ's songs; Tabloid Junkie, and Money.

I know it's not only the tabloids who are responsible, it goes beyond that. There are authors who've written disgusting lies, TV news, talkshows, morning shows. And there are people who love to hate... those who feed on hate and evil. And I feel the DA that hounded and persecuted MJ was only interested in his own career. Maybe he and others in that area wanted to take him down because of his race and success. I think its possible. It's disgusting and it makes me sick in my gut! It breaks my heart. I'm so looking forward to hearing more about what the trustees of MJ's estate are doing to fight back, and I'm praying this will be the end of the torment for the Jackson family, especially his mother and children! I'm so happy to see Taj and Brandi Jackson fighting back for their beloved uncle and his children! As my dad would say, "God love 'em!" My family supports the Jackson family.

I have immense trust and respect toward Tom Mesereau. He has gone far beyond mere duty in his defense of Michael, both legally and conversationally. The news media was too much for me to watch back in 2005, because I was a huge MJ fan and could not bear to see him torn to shreds. But I do remember the verdicts sending a great sigh of relief through me, and reading Aphrodite Jones' insightful book (for which Mesereau did the foreword), about a year later. If they ever do make a standing museum for Michael, I think Tom Mesereau deserves a plaque of recognition or something, for all his defenses of MJ.

Accusers rarely profit from coming forward with accusations against famous / wealthy abusers / rapists. Often it is the victim who suffers a life of abuse and death threats following the accusations, regardless of where or how they report it. Leaked emails purportedly show how USA Gymnastics worked with Larry Nassar to cover up sex abuse allegations. There is a constant worrying pattern of groups and organisations and ESTATES suppressing victim reports and allowing abuse to flourish in the USA. I don't believe for one second that he thinks MJ is innocent. It's the same guy who defended Bill Cosby and said he was innocent. Mesereau would sell his soul for money. It's likely he is getting $ from the Jackson Estate today to keep giving interviews defending MJ, but in any case it's in his own best interest to have as many people as possible thinking MJ is innocent, he has to pretend he thinks MJ is innocent because his reputation is at stake. Otherwise he will be known as the lawyer who helped a monster stay out of prison so he could keep molesting kids.

All these years (prior to the internet) Michael always said that the tabloids printed garbage about him and without the ability to easily research and verify all of this for ourselves, we took it at face value. I am really shocked what the media done in the last week of the 2005 trial. I unfortunately never followed the trial back then, I was about 18 at the time. I’m 32 now. I’m absolutely gobsmacked by the media’s perception and handling of the whole trial, the 1993 allegations, and with Michael Jackson in general. It still goes on, 10 years this year the poor guy has been passed, yet still he has be subjected by complete morons who can’t do a simple research, or by morons with no compassion for his children and family, also by idiots who think ‘its ok’ because other people have done it, so they think they can. I am so upset and angry with the current ballshit that has occurred. Tom Mesereau, you will always have love and respect from me and all the MJ fans, and others. You are so honourable and a truth teller. I want to thank you personally from the bottom of my heart, for what you did for Michael back in 2005, and for what you are still doing. You clearly aren’t ‘afraid to speak the truth. Much love to you. Thank you John Ziegler for all that you are doing also. I love seeing your Twitter posts. You both are 2 of the ‘good ones’ as I say. You do what you believe in, and that’s all what Michael wanted us all to do, is to believe in ourself and do what we believe in. Thank you for this interview. It has very good ‘TRUTHFUL’ information from the 2005 trial and good informative insight into the current allegations made by Wade Robson and James Safechuck in the ‘child pornagraphic’ movie which is Leaving Neverland. Produced and Directed by Dan Reed. If anyone who is a sceptic or believes these insane allegations made against Michael Jackson, does not change there mind after watching this interview, or decides to look into these allegations. Then I’m afraid to say they are Fucktards!! I would like to add all the while I totally respect Tom Mesereau for all he is doing in speaking out in defence of Michael Jackson. I however do not agree with him saying that the MJ Estate are handling it very well and doing all they can. From what I have seen (which is jack shit) I havnt seen them do anything apart from issue a lawsuit against HBO for breach of contract. That was back in February I believe. Maybe because he is in the USA and he is a lawyer, maybe he gets more info than us fans. The Estate could of done alot more in my opinion. Also I have lost all respect for them, ever since they sold the catalog back to Sony. Which MJ didn't want sold. Total disrespect

Troy Wright The estate is actually run by highly questionable executors. John Branca was already fired by MJ in 2002/2003 because MJ discovered that Branca was also working for Sony so there was a conflict of interest as he was having a battle against Sony that time. Then, two weeks before MJ died Branca was mysteriously reinstated to his position of MJ’s lawyer. MJ had his own real lawyer whom he himself hired and who had his real will. The lawyer’s name was Peter Lopez, who mysteriously died of “suicide” in 2010. MJ’s ATV catalog was finally sold to Sony by Branca for a mere $750m in 2016 when it’s all worth more than that. It’s billions and billions of dollars! Then, in 2018 Branca sold MJ’s EMI stake to Sony for $287m. See? Branca’s interest lays with Sony. MJ must be rolling in his grave. He held on to that catalog for a reason. He knew its value. Branca just sold away MJ’s kids’ generational wealth. MJ’s merging of his ATV with Sony was the catalyst of what made Sony publishing that it is now today. Now, I fear for MJ’s Mijac Music catalog because I have a feeling Branca will also sell it to Sony and leave the estate dry. God forbid it!

@@anja1627 Exact my knowledges. John Branca and the other one, Mc Lain. They had a false dukoment to become the leader of the MJ Estate. They are narrow together connected with Sony and AEG. They have to do, what this powers wont. The law allows them to spend MJ's money for what they wont. So the truth never will come out. They prevent it. Don't trust this Estate. MJ was often passed over. Poor poor Michael Jackson.

What kind of person who was victim of any kind of abuse would keep videos, pictures or rings related to their abuser or even dancing to his abuser's while he's in therapy ? If you have some emotional trauma due to the abuse, you just don't keep things related to your abuser.

@@David.lovesU There is no document that exist that shows MJ paid 20m. The civil settlement took place after motions were denied to stay the civil trial (delay). You know nothing but your tabloid version of events. I'm going by documented evidence. Civil settlements can't stop a criminal prosecution or anyone from still testifying. There was no birth mark. I read the DA Sneedon affidavit who saw the photos. He never said there was match, he talked about markings, not a birth mark. Markings of Vitiligo, dude. He tried to introduce the photos at MJs 05 trial and was denied by the judge. The same photos that were used against him at two grand juries in 1994 where they asked his mother, ridiculously if MJ altered his own penis. Proving the photos didn't match. Plus MJ wasn't circumcised like Jordan claimed to Weiss a detective that interviewed Jordan. MJ autopsy also proved he wasn't circumcised. Jordan own lawyer, Feldman requested for the photos to not be used or for Jackson take others. Bye!

I want to sharle this with you because I feel you loved him alot too. I went to bed 2 1/2 weeks ago and went in my room and broke down crying. I asked the Lord to let me speak to MJ and let him hear what I needed to say. I went to sleep that nightcaps had the most real dream I have ever had. I was at Neverland Ranch and walking along the path by the big pond. I saw Michael sitting on a bench deep in thought. I walked overcrowded him and said hi. Hevlooked up at me and said hello. Can I help you? I said yes. Do you know how much you are loved by your fans? Do you know how missed you are? Hevlooked up at me with those beautiful eyes and said yes I do. I miss my fans, my 🎶 music, performing, my children, my family. I come here because it is my home, to protect it. He hugged me and said thank you. I love all my fans and miss them. He glowed and his smile was so warm, his eyes full of love and happiness. I felt such a peace come over me I woke up and had tears running down my face. I only shared this because of you and your sweet comment. She is ok now. He is in heaven. He also told me he isn't hateful or angry at what people are saying.
