TOM LEHRER'S ELEMENTS - with new elements nihonium, moscovium, tennessine and oganesson!
Комедия
Just heard that IUPAC approved the four names proposed earlier this year, and couldn't resist updating The Elements Song to include them - and the other 12 discovered or synthesised since 1959.
Watch me singing this live on stage with Festival of the Spoken Nerd: • Tom Lehrer's Elements,...
And with full brass band and a host of comedians and scientists on the Chemistry World channel: • The Elements Song 2019...

This was recorded in one take while our nine-week old baby had a little nap in her crib just out of shot... Thanks to her for keeping quiet, plus even more thanks to Tom Lehrer for writing the original song to Arthur Sullivan's tune, and keeping the whole thing singable in under two minutes.
Please excuse the couple of fluffs. We're all pretty tired in this household right now!

The periodic table keeps getting bigger and you have made the original song even better. Absolutely fantastic!
You have made my day :)
Brilliant. I now realise that I have been waiting for this for decades.
Yay for an update to the song!

Cooooool!
Please make more videos. Saw you on the spreadsheet clip with Mould and Matt Parker... Looked you up and not disappointed at your content.
This is buckets full of wonderfulness! Muchas gracias.
I have been watching all your videos for the past 2 hours. You truly have a voice of an angel! I really wish I could attend your shows but they are only in UK 🙁
Thank you so much for supplying the missing verse!
Lovely job. thanks. ... I'd learned ten of the new elements a year or more ago but never got them into a singable verse. I might be un- and re-learning now. :-)

Feel free to take my version and make it your own!
Woo, I do adore Tom Lehrer
Your footnote in "The Element in the Room" led me here. Boy, I was not disappointed. ^_^

Yes! And it's WAY more useful as a cheat sheet... but also much easier to learn so less of a challenge :)
I'm a community preceptor for medical students, Helen. You don't happen to have a song that lists the differential diagnosis for fever of unknown origin? 😉

Send me the list and I'll have a go!
With some help from Arthur Sullivan who wrote the tune, for the song Modern Major General in Pirates of Penzance. Congratulations Helen & co for continuing the great British tradition of comic (and informative) songs :-)

I just used guitar tabs / piano chords easily found online... have a search around, surely someone has done it already... I don't really use tabs any more so wouldn't know where to start!
Just to let you know that I have added your updated version to the Internet Database of Periodic Tables: www.meta-synthesis.com/webbook/35_pt/pt_database.php

The baby mentioned in this video takes up a bit of time... but mostly we've been touring (fotsn.com/ycpan) releasing a new DVD (fotsn.com/j4g) and writing a book (fotsn.com/element) Not enough time to make youtube vids though... should really get back on the wagon next year!
Would you mind giving me the lyrics for the updated portion of the song? I'd like to learn it, but it's rather difficult at the speed you were going!

Once more KZread lets us down with low volume. Good one, though!

Nope, you can blame me for the low volume. The baby was asleep in the crib just out of shot. I wasn't joking when I said I had to finish the song before she woke up!!!
@adlamis

Fair enough, though I do have a chronic problem with low volume on KZread videos. I'm guessing my computer is part of the problem, though I can get decent volume on other videos.
You very sweet muck muck ♥️

Did you say stalinium LOL?
Girl you can spit those lyrics fast! *doffs her cap to you*
someone make some subtitles
Unlike the original, this rendition is almost totally unintelligible, except for the "la la la la la"

Jim Roberts Fair point. But... 2 minutes until the baby woke up, had to do it double time :/

I think you might be a little too harsh on that. Yes, it's very fast, but not unintelligible. That said, I'm looking forward to a studio version which will, no doubt, be slower and generally with better sound quality.
