Saw the movie with both my parents and was filled with emotions and memories. Left the theater all choked up and went for a walk by the waterfront and talked about it, and we all agreed that Mr. Hanks understood the spirit of Mr. Rogers and how important the lessons were. We had a beautiful day.

It is a rare gift when you have an actor embody a part the way Tom Hanks does. When I watch Tom in a movie I believe in the part he plays. He expresses himself not only with the words in the screenplay, but he adds the gestures in a way that you believe. It's hard for me to express just how magical I feel Tom Hanks acts. He is truly a precious gift! I'm looking forward to seeing, "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood." I will be bringing a box of tissues. Peace & Blessings ~

My wife worked at the Squirrel Hill public library (a branch in the Carnegie) in the children's department. It was the local library in the neighborhood of Shadyside, North Squirrel Hill, and Squirrel Hill. Mr Rogers show interacted with the library. Much of what Mr Rogers was doing with young children was also happening at the library. Showing respect to a 3 year old, asking their opinion, listening to their ideas.... when the rest of the world would just give them orders and tell them what to do. Outside of a child's parents, this was hard to find, and indeed, even including most parents, it was still hard to find. Child development happens best in an environment of love and security and attention. Tough things to bring to a television set. Only one man ever achieved that.

I grew up without a father. I identified very much with Daniel Striped tiger. I’m 53 yo now but I always saw Fred as my dad. He made me whole, feel loved, respected and taught me that I was always enough; That I wasn’t odd because all the other kids had two parents. I grew up feeling so secure in myself when society said that a dark skinned, black girl who was an only child from a single parent household in the housing projects of Chicago couldn’t make it in life. My beginning was a recipe for disaster. I went to head start, was a star student, got a pre-law undergraduate degree, interned at the Attorney General’s office, paid my way through grad school at a top 10 university and got my MBA in one year instead of 2 years at the age of 23. I became a successful Market researcher and make award winning films on the side when I’m not doing volunteer work for nonprofits. whenever times were tough growing up, when I didn’t have enough to eat in grad school in Pittsburgh, even though I worked 30 hours to put myself through school, whenever I wanted to give up on myself, I could hear Mr. Rogers’ voice telling me to just take my time, you’ll make it. I did. I am. Thank you Mr Rogers.😘💯🤘🏾

This would be a tough role to play. Hanks played an astronaut, but we only really knew Lovell from a few TV clips. Most of us never heard of Sully (by name anyway) until the movie came out. Real people, but not so well known. But Mr Rogers? He is a cultural icon. Lots of us grew up watching Mr Rogers. If this was done poorly, at all, people would crucify Hanks. Of course being Tom Hanks, he nailed it! How did he not win an Oscar for this role? 😎

I know that there were rumors that he's a sexual predator or assaulted girls. There was never a time in that interaction that I felt he would do something. I've been sexually assaulted as a kid and before the guy did anything, I felt an extreme sense of dread and fear because predators give off that sickening vibe. Never got that with Tom whatsoever.

That's kind of how he is. I met him back in the 90's when he came in to my uncle's shop to be scanned for something (I forget what) and this was how he acted; quick witted, dead pan humor and a matter of fact type. However, he was a really nice guy and naturally great with kids.

Even if Gayle King knows Tom Hanks personally, it detracts from the report for her to address him as "Tom," as news is supposed to maintain objectivity and a bit of editorial distance, even if editorial distance does not actually exist. Every time she calls him "Tom" a throw up a little inside my mouth.

Where is Mr. Rogers now when we need him the most? He would be the only person in Hollywood who would be gracious enough to be kind to President Trump. I wish people would get this, the unkindness is heartbreaking.

@@jollibeeee Because Kindness is a gift of generosity you extend to someone ... it's not something you ASK of them. Its a gesture of compassion and a show of human decency from your own heart ... it does not sit in judgment, but asks nothing in an attempt to not be an escalating part of the problem.
