    There were a bunch of straight draws that missed, and Phil's value range is only trips probably, maybe a few 9's. So I think Dwan was always calling that size, he just used his time cause it was a big pot. If Phil jams it would've been interesting.

His NL showing made for better TV. The K2 bet sizings ignored I guess he figured there were lots of busted draws Phil could have took that line with and with the price and look on his face I guess it was a marginal call. Not that impressive. Phil takes a lot of stabs at the pot when the board gets paired on the turn. And if you don’t believe him on the turn and call, you have to call the river. If Phil has the ace, it’s just plain bad luck.

    really ur gonna say he ran good? Phil was the one constantly with the pocket pairs and the aces, and he binked a king with garbage against dwan's jacks (which if reversed helmuth wouldve killed someone). The match was won with dwans huge read and call with K2, not cuz of luck. Oh helmuths aces didnt hold up? Thats why u RAISE PREFLOP so they dont catch a piece then suck out. Dean owned all the small pots, and if you agree w most Heads Up specialist, PH’s hand won% is just too low to be successful - granted he did go on a 9 match winning streak so PH knows what he’s doing obviously. Doug in his post match analysis vs Daniel said Daniel winning - only - 48% of the pots is already nearly an impossible stat to overcome in NLHU, and PH is winning significantly less than that. Quite interesting how he can fly in the face of GTO and be so successful.

  • @vivelajonny

    @vivelajonny

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@vinni522 Not that interesting if you ask me. Phil's success is in tournaments and that's very important when talking about his success in relation to him making GTO mistakes. Phil is the ultimate "feel" player. He's all about what does my opponent have right now and what is the best way to play against them at this particular moment rather than playing a GTO focused style where your opponents actual cards in any given hand become less important. Phil is about winning right here right now, which is much more optimal for tournaments rather than cash, obviously. Phil's style in a cash game against good players is filled with mistakes that can and will be exploited in the long run. But put him in a field that's 50% "bad" players for a two day tournament and he can make his reads, play his strategy with the blinds, run through fish and accumulate tons of chips and that's where he has had his success

    Man this was probably one of my favorite poker videos I’ve seen in a long time. Dwan with the 2 call was insane. I don’t know why but for some reason I just knew he was going to call.
