TL;DR: Jetten was originally on an upswing, decided he wanted to cashout, and subsequently paid ~230k worth of pieces which Tom agreed to pay back Jetten then went on a 1.6M downswing backed by Ike and Dwan, and Jetten hasn’t played / made it up. Jetten thinks that Dwan should pay the $230k owed by Dwan prior to the $800k makeup to Dwan. Dwan was willing to swallow a lot / all of the 800k makeup, until Jetten decided to go scorched earth about the 230k he unreasonably believed should be separate from any money he should pay Dwan to get out of the $800k worth of makeup.

Jetten is down 1.6m in makeup to Dwan and Ike. Separately Dwan owes 226k to Jetten from a backing deal. Jetten believes Dwan should pay the 226k and not have it deducted from the makeup bc the makeup began after the deal for the 226k.

Without a written agreement confirming that Dwan still owes the 226k no reasonable person could conclude that Dwan owes the 226k and Jetten gets of Scott free for the 800k. That’s a whack position and the pile-on by the internet nerds is typical bs

This is just another version of the story. I have no idea about Jetten and the two sides of this but Dwan has a history of dodging his debts. He still owes Jungleman 250k 12 years later and it's not like the 350k he owes will change life for Haralabos either. The logical conclusion is that Tom Dwan believes that the debts he owes to certain people will be forgotten because they don't pose a physical danger. People trying to defend his actions are just insane, don't make insane wager/deals if you can't pay.

I don’t think your aware how a staking deal works… they back him and when they decide to no longer back him then the make up is dead. It’s only if they want to keep backing him and he doesn’t wanna play for them then he owes make up. They ended the deal so he doesn’t owe make up. Outside of this he sold 10% and 25% pieces to events and would sell them and assume Tom to pay after. So Tom was free rolling Peter on these events and if he won he would make money if he lost Tom never paid. Hence 236k bill

Tom has done the dirt on at least 5 people and has no intention of paying these people back. He'll do anything to get his fix of poker, his eyes tell all. He'd Rob your grave if needed. Im amazed that he is now sponsored by 3 poker sites.

The fact that neither Nittuci nor Tom could summarize this very simple story in under an hour is a real head scratcher. I understand what hes saying. I was very generous in the past and now its the other way around and small amount for dwan they call him a thief. Its like i give you 100k but then burrow 35k and the guy is pissed bcuz i give 30k back instead of 35k.

Nick and Veronica are both intelligent people and are well-versed in the Poker community dealings and even they are bewildered by his responses.

I can save you the first ten minutes: Durr - Jetten and I have had some misunderstandings and miscommunications about some past financial issues.

LAYMEN’S terms after 2 hours of Rubic’s cube. Peter was +452K at one point. He requested to cash out, so he gets half, 226k. Tom never paid the 226k. Peter then went on a 1.6M downswing so he was 1.6M in makeup. But he had never got the 226k and it's 3 years later now. Tom thinks he shouldn't have to pay because Peter lost 1.6M after that. But they agreed to settle up when he was winning and tom never paid, so tom should pay it. So Tom basically is upset and lost a ton backing him but Peter still wants to get paid The backer is always responsible for the losses (the makeup) IMO!

No, the issue is that Jetten never sent the accounting and didn’t want private arbitration. Instead, Jetten went public knowing Dwan went into 1.6M makeup to help a friend out.

So Jetten wanted to cash out half of 500k he was owed. He never got paid. Then Jetten goes on to torch 1.6mil. Why would he still expect to get paid? He owes 1.1 million.

I’ve never heard an adult man use the word “grumpy” to describe other adult men as much as Tom does.

The bottom line is, gamblers, especially High Stakes gamblers depending on which side of the ledger they're on, think everything is negotiable. The way they lend money to each other and make side deals is so opaque, it woud require a quantum physicist to figure out. As for Tom, he is a Poker Savant, but, his social skills are obviously convoluted, it has nothing to do with being on tilt. It's just the way it is, some people are just obtuse. The way I see it, both parties are guilty.

What I do not understand is why the Make Up is being talked about in terms of the equation. My understanding of staking is a player is buying a piece of your action, and if you win they win, but if you lose they lose, that is just the risk they took. I am unaware of a legal or even moral obligation to repay Make Up to a player, because they making an investment for their own profit. So why is that being considered in the conversation in this matter.

Does Dwan actually hear the questions or just creates one in his mind that he wants to answer.

First 15min sounds like Peter had a cash out of $226k that Tom owes. But then Ike and Tom backed Peter and Peter lost $1,600,000. So Peter is on a losing streak and wants to be paid a previous cash out after losing 1.6M. Sound right? If Dwan did owe Peter $226k, I would just treat it as Peter is in make up of $1,374,000 and go from there.

It's a fact that all poker players will owe money one to another however it is the big amount that will soon erupt into problematic debts. Best is neither be a borrower, nor a lender and no such problem will crop up. If you want to lend then make sure that amount you are willing to forfeit if the borrower does not pay and if you need to borrow then make bloody sure you return.

Tom is definitely on some serious shit
