    I’ve noticed over the last couple months or so that Mariano is giving too much action and 3-betting pre-flop way too wide. I think he needs to real it back a bit. Airball seems to of altered his game and has actually been playing tighter and winning. He won +330k at the lodge yesterday with the lowest VPIP (19%) at the table. The mega whale Tesla had the highest VPIP (75%) and lost -620k.

    Unlike the older generation of, Mariano and Rampage likely make a significant income from illegally raked app games ( SplashSquad club GG) which is in part why they are less prone to going broke. Also hustler live is the softest games; you would have to be an idiot to go broke having access to these games.

    Great interview! It's intriguing that Mariano doesn't have any backers in these High Stakes formats. Additionally, rather than just poker skill, being a super loose action player is necessary to thrive in the big poker games. Otherwise, you risk not being invited back, which can ultimately devastate your bankroll.

    It's theoretically possible to be in a downswing for years. That's what variance is. Every hand is independent of the last one in terms of the randomness of the cards.

  • @faulrevere8938

    @faulrevere8938

    4 ай бұрын

    The key word in your statement is “theoretically”...in REALITY, no one goes on a legitimate downswing for years (thousands of hands). That’s an absurd notion and NOT the way variance plays out in REALITY.

  • @rustycolon9368

    @rustycolon9368

    @@faulrevere8938If something is theoretically possible it means it is possible IN REALITY. And you wouldn't know if it's happened yet because you aren't independently measuring the EV of every single player on the planet. That's the nature of variance and selection bias. It's possible to play by the book and still lose. And every hand is 100% independent from one another. At the end of the day you're playing a game of chance and it's possible to run bad independent of who you are or how well you play hands.

  • @kinggrantking

    @kinggrantking

    @@rustycolon9368 Nah I mean that's mostly semantics to say that you can witness low probability events nonstop without cluing into something being off. If a poker player is on a downswing that only 1% of players of skill level x are going to experience in a given year, say, they should already be highly suspect of it being a downswing vs bad play. If that same player is on a downswing that only .00001% of players of skill level x experience, the odds are overwhelming that they are NOT the exceptionally unlucky x skilled player; they are simply below skill level x. It is also the case that avoiding plays which result in extreme variance is part of good bankroll management and good play as well; if you choose to grind up $10k at 1/3 over the course of a year and then lose $600k one evening on a Hustler Friday game, yes that could absolutely be a downswing, especially just over the 200 hands or so you play at one night, but that is also extremely bad bankroll management and the sign of a bad poker player even if they were legitimately very unlucky too.

    @@rustycolon9368 This is completely untrue. It is impossible to get your money in good hundreds of times in a row and not at least break even. If you have three losing poker sessions in a row it is 99% likely that there is something wrong with your game. Its almost impossible to be playing decent poker and lose more than three session in a row. Variance is a myth.

  • @rustycolon9368

    @rustycolon9368

    @@JohnSmith-su3zeVariance is a mathematical fact. It's precisely why it's not impossible for that to happen. It's also why it's possible to hit 10 reds in a row on the roulette wheel. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about and you sound like another poker degen who likes to pretend it isn't fundamentally gambling.

    If he's truly only playing once a week, for a few hours at a time, and feels like he's on a long break even stretch over the last 6 months, I truly feel for him bc this could continue way way longer than is probably imaginable. What do you get per hour in terms of dealt hands on stream? 20? 25? Sessions last for what 8hrs? 6? Even if we're generous and consider post stream play, let's say you get 250 hands a session. A 50k hand break even stretch can take 200 sessions. Playing once a week... that's like almost 4 years worth of the hypothetical graph moving sideways.

    @@drugsrbad475unless it’s a criminal case then he just needs to prove on the balance ie. more than 50% chance she cheated, in order to get judgement and refund. I’m putting it around 80% she cheated and with all the circumstantial evidence I’m very confident a judge would be well over 50% confident.

    Great interview, I’m glad he was allowed to speak his mind without being interrupted and that he was giving us thought-out and honest answers instead of the sarcastic joke-type answers. How Mariano feels about Garrett is how a lot of up n comers probably feel about him in terms of wanting to make it big to battle against him, I know I shall. Hopefully he’s still in the game by the time I get around 🫡
