Lactic acid sets are some of my favorite to do. You don't feel most of the pain till afterwards, and you get yourself mentally hyped by the times you're going in practice.

Thats not how lactic acid works. If you produce it, your muscles burn.

Do you mean 12 x 50s on Race Pace, going on 4 mins? I.e. rest for about 3mins 30 for each set?

If I heard correctly there, Tom repped between 22.8 and 23.1. Rowdy's WR in 1980 was a 22.96

It doesn't make sense to train to tolerate lactate. You can train lactate production to a certain extent and lactate consumption. Using lactate tolerance to define this kind of session perpetuates the outdated understanding about lactate we had around 40 years ago... We should be a bit more precise with the terminology we use.

You misunderstood what they meant by lactic tolerance. They don't mean the body's physical resistance, they meant the swimmers ability to swim despite the buildup of lactic acid in the muscles.

It’s more for learning how to continue at pace and with good technique even though your muscles are shutting down. Kinda more for the brain than the body

@@pf_ebag8701I didn't misunderstood, I know why this training sessions are implemented but it is essential to choose the right words to define them ;D
