I am just stunned and amazed by these cartoon pieces. I can't imagine how difficult this must be from a technical standpoint for these musicians to play these extremely complicated pieces. All the different chord and timing changes and weird sound effects. I used to watch these cartoons as a kid, and it is just WOW to see this performed by a world class orchestra. I never understood what went into making these musical pieces; which I used to call "cartoon songs". Highest praise to these talented people.

The studio musicians back then were from the most highest caliber. They had to perfect it on sight with no prior rehearsals. Not only that, but it was a very small sized orchestra compared to this one and yet they managed to fool us with their grand sound and performance! If I remember what Scott said, I think it was only 25 players.

Many of the musicians of that era were European Klezmer musicians who were to a large extent just jazzing up their repertoire. A large amount of cartoon music is also classical based, since there were no copyright royalties.

The presenter/host of this concert told that the musicians back then often called in sick when they had to record music for Tom and Jerry because it was often a complicated piece 😊

It's soooooo much fun watching these piece of music made for the shorts and to see an Orchestra while it's been played. Plus the whole like you said hearing and seeing those guys doing the sound effects and screams is is wild.

This was when a live orchestra actually played the theme songs and not the synthesized , green screen stuff of today.

I hadn't realized how intense that accompaniment music was until now.

I can't believe such a jovial tune can make me cry. That opening theme was my childhood. 🥰 I and my late grandpa would watch Tom and Jerry together on weekends. Old man loved nothing more than Western movies and Tom and Jerry.

How many of these artists were glued to their TVs watching this show as kids? How many of us?

We have been following the DNSO for years thru KZread. Last year we moved to Denmark, and precisely this was the first ever play we attended, the sole sight of the Koncerthuset brought us to tears. The show was magnificent and an emotional rollercoaster. I'm so grateful by the chance we had to be there

We need to salute the composer Scott Bradley. Its incredible how much wonderful music he has composed for cartoons

"Well,, tonight I'm going to throw bags of bolts into a bucket, hit chimes with a claw hammer, crinkle bubble wrap, splash water in a bowl, and occasionally scream." "And how many years did you study at the conservatory to do that?"

What absolute fever dream this arrangement was, incredible! Props to the percussionists going a mile a minute playing the skillet, dishes, slide whistle and about anything else you can think of 🤯

I can't believe what I just saw and heard. For those of us of a certain age this is such an amazing treat. It's absolutely brilliant. THANK YOU for this!!!

This was arranged by John Wilson and first performed by the John Wilson Orchestra at the 2013 Proms. Fun fact: Lou Raderman, concertmaster of the MGM Concert Orchestra who performed all the music on the "classic" Tom & Jerry cartoons mockingly complained that ""Scott writes the most blank-blank-blank difficult fiddle music in Hollywood … He is going to break my fingers!"

I keep coming back to this, every couple of weeks and love it even more each time. What makes it so enjoyable is watching the members of the orchestra, who seem to be having the time of their lives. This is 100% perfect! Thanks so much! 😹👍🏼🐭👍🏼

This is the first time I saw this Music being played in front of me, Usually I used to hear watching Cartoons ... I had to stand up, and Salute to all of guys in there performing .. What a difficult task .. A big "BRAVO" for all of them . Love you all, from Pakistan .

It is such a bliss to hear you, I was a kid once again, watching mischievous Tom trying to catch smartass Jerry. I loved the snores and noises of Tom getting scalded, hit and who knows what else😂, this is incredible.

And this, ladies and gentlebeings, is why I STILL LOVE CLASSICAL MUSIC

It was one of my Favorite Programs when I was Child the Saturdays in the Morning.

This arrangement was created by Peter Morris and John Wilson for the John Wilson Orchestra, featured here on youtube for the 2013 BBC Proms. There is an extensive description for the video. The music was taken from 8 different epsiodes: Smitten Kitten, Sufferin' Cats, The Framed Cat, Cat Fishin' Just Ducky, Jerry and Jumbo, The Cat Comes to Dinner and Mouse for Sale

Wow, they don't put nearly as much effort into entertainment these days. It's amazing to see this actually played live. I completely took it for granted as a kid. Imagine the MGM studio musicians in the 40s knocking this stuff out weekly 🤯

I doubt they will ever travel since they are the Danish National Symphony. I enjoy all their videos so much that, after years of watching them, I traveled from Ohio to Copenhagen just to see the "Raiders of the Symphony" concert last month. It was awesome. The inside of the venue is so much nicer than you can see in these videos. I don't know if the experience was worth the cost of international airfare, hotel, etc. just to see a concert, but I'm glad I did it. PS. We did stay an entire week in Denmark, went to Legoland, saw the sites, etc. So, DRK was not the only thing we experienced, but it was the reason we went.

@@nanorider426Thank you! Yes, I really, *really* enjoyed Denmark. The people are so friendly and happy! The land is nice, and the politics are smart (at least to my perception during a short visit). You seem to actually care about climate change, you provide your citizens with health care, you pay students to attend free university, you provide for the homeless, etc. Returning home to USA felt like arriving in a third-world country.

Danimarka Ulusal Senfoni Orkestrasını saygıyla alkışlıyorum. Sürekli dinlediğim bir orkestra. Burada çizgi film müziklerinin karmaşıklığı çok farklı enstrümanın aynı anda zamanlamalarını tutturması, parçayı hiç akışı bozmadan çalmalarını ağzım açık dinledim. Ne kadar zor bir işmiş çizgi film müziği devam ettirmek. Hiç bu açıdan görmemiştim. Çizgi film diyerek geçtiğimiz eğlencenin arkasında aslında ne büyük sanat ustaları varmış. Hepsini tek tek saygıyla selamlıyor ve alkışlıyorum. Umarım bir gün sizi canlı izlemek nasip olur. Harikasınız emeğinize sağlık umarım değeriniz biliniyordur.

I'm amazed how it was made 😨❤️

This music is incredibly difficult and was perfomed flawlessly by these fine musicians! But hats off also to the original composers, arrangers and orchestra members who played this material "live" during the MGM scoring sessions which very likely did not allow for long rehearsals and expensive retakes. "Done in a studio" does not give them enough credit, I believe.
