    Shutting down a major multi lane highway is destructive at best. Every ounce of pain that can be done offsite to shorten the time it takes to install this on the highway is worth its weight in gold.

  • @joytech23

    @joytech23

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@Luckingsworth In Australia they installed 41 gantries (some 60m long) along one of the busiest highways in the country along Sydney's M4 with minimal disruption. All taken to site in pieces and assembled in the late/early hours. Over several months 9pm they close one lane each way, 10pm two and 11pm all close until 4am re-opens. One thing that may have helped is parallel to the M4 is another lower-speed highway that has frequent on/off ramps, the diversions were very good and at most it might extend a trip 5-10 minutes.

    To everyone asking "why couldn't this have been broken up into shorter sections and assembled on sight?"... I'm no expert, but i have to assume a lot of very smart and well paid people worked on this transportation problem, looked at different routes on the map, and considered different methods to achieve the same goal, and determined that what we seen here was the best/easiest/cheapest way to go about it. My hat's off to them because they apparently knew what they were doing and did a fantastic job. Also, no doubt the driver is most excellent, but he also had a lot of support personnel helping him maneuver that thing. It was no doubt a team effort!

    Believe it or not it can happen. If there's not a way to do a turnaround with the load and your route is blocked, they will make you just pull over on the side of the road as best as you can and make you wait. The state police don't mind because they are getting paid by the hour. On average they are making somewhere between $35 and $50 an hour.

It would be very difficult to piece this down and take it in sections, which would still cause traffic problems, especially hooking those sections together on site and up in the air, when in one time to haul it all and end it. This was fully thought out and determined to be the best and safest way to do it and the least amount of traffic interference.

    It's a lot of pressure operating one of those things because if you make the slightest mistake someone could be killed or property could be destroyed cause there is a lot of weight on those heaby haulers and they don't stop easily that's why there's multiple operators for the rig , one being the main cab driver , another being the rear trailer controller then lastly there are the pilot vehicles that help to keep traffic away Along with guiding the operators around stuff so they don't have any collisions.

    I have respect for all truckers. They work hard on the road delivering the goods across the states. These guys did a great job delivering that, it probably wasn’t easy maneuvering through those tight turns

    Fantastic video. It takes a team of experienced professionals to pull off a job such as this. Great camera views. The driver was so cool and calm, a true sign that he trusted all of the work his co-workers did in planning this journey, and offering precision directions along the route. Excellent job, Buchanan Hauling!

    That was so interesting. Everybody's seen the oversize vehicles with the lead and follow cars on the freeway, but this was bigger than I've ever seen, so enjoyed to watch. I don't know who in their right mind would give this a thumbs down, but I heard that the KZreadr gets money whether it's a good or bad review or thumb, as long as it's interaction with the audience.
