  • @--AE--

    @--AE--

    3 жыл бұрын

What's interesting about that is, at least for regular semi trucks, is if they are hauling a heavy load it actually gives more clearance for bridges because the weight pushes everything down. If that piece of equipment only weighed 1,000 lbs it would've smashed into that bridge. So they had to make calculations on exactly how much it would lower the tractor and trailer(s). Or maybe the suspension is good enough to keep it loaded on that trailer for long periods of time and they just measured it that way. Doubt it tho.

Amazing, I have pulled rigs this long, but never had a push truck and the rest. I drove for a road construction outfit, we had what we called the train. about as long as that, but independent units, first unit scooped up the top layer of asphalt, and each unit after, turned it back into asphalt, a few things were added of course. Had to be off the road by five, I was the only driver on that crew to run 8 rigs, so at the end of the day it had to parked safely, and yes, the driver needs that help in turns, dirt roads, till we find a place to park the train. Nothing like jumping out of one rig just to take it to town, hook to another trailer, haul ass back out, to jump into another rig, over and over. The truck that pulled the train had so much muscle!

I was working at TXU's CPSES power plant when one of the primary transformers blew up due to moisture build up in the cooling oil. (Same as the one shown.) Huge blue flash and sounded like a massive bomb going off. Took 30 days to get one made to order and shipped by rail from the east coast to Texas. The heavy haulers used an identical rig to move it to the transformer pad. They broke the rig in the process and had to massively weld it up half way to the transformer pad. It's hard to see just how massive the dolly and truck are. The Semi is not your typical Kenworth. It's about 3x the size of a normal KW900.
