At minute 5:15 the word "nanometers" was mistakenly mentioned, when the correct word should have been "newton-meters". Apologies

It is wrong. >>> At 5:15, it is not 2780 nanometers of torque. It should be 2780 newton-meters (N m) of torque. Nanometers (nm) is a unit of length. 2780 nanometers = .000109 inches. 2780 newton-meters of torque = 2051 foot-pounds of torque.

When I was in Highschool. There was construction in Battle Creek Park. The dump trucks were moving dirt from one end to the other. They had to go up a steep grade. The Peterbilts were the only trucks that were able to go up the grade while shifting gears. The other trucks had to get whatever speed they could and hold that gear til the top.

If you are going to use units of measurement that is great, but please keep it consistent with either metric or imperial units. Using both units to describe different elements of one vehicle is to confuse many. I understand both. Also 2780NM means 2780 Newton Metres (USA Meters) of torque, not 2780 Nano Metres. Look up what the prefix nano means - huge difference with Newton.

Some of the biggest rigs I've ever seen were in Australia. Those road trains are huge,3 sometimes 6 or more trailers and the rigs pulling some of these road trains are massive!! I've never seen Kenworths, Macks or Western Star trucks so huge as the ones down under!! In the US,our tractor trucks are the best in the world and highly customised to the operators desire, but those Aussie rigs are in a class of their own. Designed especially for the brutal conditions and ridiculously long distances, even the engines are super massive!! You will never truly appreciate the size of these beasts until you are up close and personal, and that ain't no lie !! Jefferson Hodges,Az,US.

  • @michaelbutler1557

Yes. You are right. They are massive the road trains in Australia. American trailers are overall quite small in comparison. Check out the B-Double snd B-Triples also. However, extra long sleepers as per USA trucks are not common in Australia. Only Americans call Australia ‘down-under’. Australians have a bit of a chuckle when we hear it.

My work truck broke down once, so I had to call the companies dispatch center to get towed. This guy named Victor picked up the truck with a Peterbilt wrecker. He gave me a ride to our vehicle maintenance private contractor along with the broken down truck. I was so Impressed with the effortlessness of the wrecker, and it was a 1986 tow truck.

I believe that twinsteer to truck is a conversion to twinsteer, I've only seen one truck that was a factory built one, many years ago, with Dowell-Schlumberger, haven't seen another one that wasn't a conversion from single steer axle. KW gets to build the twinsteers in T900.880,,C & K500 and 963, Pete got the originl KW LCF/L700 garbage trucks, called them a 320, and now the 520.
