4:53 I was shocked to see this man on the bike giving you the middle finger. I know that Japanese people are the most respectful and loving people. Hope this person will realize that what he did was wrong. I love Japan and Japanese people for their great manner and humility, for their beautiful culture of respect, love, perfection, art and spirituality.

@brunswik Sorry but if you look at 4:59 you see Japanese people in the street in front of the guy on the bike and he doesn't give them the finger. You don't fight supposedly bad behaviour with bad behaviour.

While I love exploring on my own there are some walks we would like to do or see the locations on a map. There are several apps that can track your path so that you aren’t doing the work. Thanks for considering this enhancement!

I can tell you that a11y in Japan is really behind. Keep this in mind 1. Post war Japan was built for a young able bodied workforce. 2. Japan has a centuries long class system that ignored the needs of the disabled. Thanks to the preparation for the 2020 Olympics, Tokyo was forced to make some changes. However, the majority of the stations still lack elevators or ramps. Also just because a station has an elevator doesn't mean you will be able to get where you ned to go. Some stations are so massive you could spend a lot of time traveling around the station (assuming access is even possible at all.) Tokyo is very vertical both above and below ground and as you can imagine this makes travel accessing anything off street level problematic. Many buildings are not equipped with with elevators. And public restrooms outside of department stores or shopping centers are unlikely to have a11y. Outside of Tokyo the situation is more dire. For example Kyoto will require a lot of effort to reach temples and shrines grounds and you can't reach the highest parts by wheel chair. A city like Osaka is not as vertical as Tokyo but you will find even less elevators. I by no means want to discourage you, but I think it's only fair to give you the truth of the situation.

  • @NoshAbroad

@@jimlewellen8932 I’m so glad to hear how a11y has changed in Japan. It has been such a struggle for many and as you say “hidden from the general public” was the expectation. I know Japan has the ability to and will get there. It will just take time.

@11:15 ... that "scar" is actually the letters *SV* w/c stands for *"Super Veloce"* w/c is *Italian* for *"Super Speed"* the car is also *suuuuuper expensive* . typically a *Lamborghini Aventador SV* will retail between *$400,000 - $500,000 (USD)* @32:50 ... that looks a lot like a late 1980s *Bentley Continental* (possibly 1988?) if it is the *Bently Continental* version (& not the *Rolls Royce Corniche* - produced same time, same assembly line), then it's a *super rare* car (only *421* made between 1984 - 1994). @37:45 ... that's either a *Ferrari FF* or the newer replacement model, the *Ferrari GTC4Lusso* for the most part, they're both the exact same car (w/ some minor tweaks). basically a *+$250,000 (USD)* station wagon @1:01:15 ... kinda funny how you saw that *Nissan GT-R* next to the 300 sign, b/c it can go a little over 300km/hr (around +200mph). that makes it one of the world's fastest (mass produced) cars. it's nicknamed *"Godzilla"* & costs around *+$120,000 (USD)*

@brunswik I can understand where John is coming from when he said that. The pipes and wires are very Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle-esque. I can understand the appreciation for the aesthetic, and I'm sure that safety measures were put in place that were up-to-date for the time when built. But you do bring up a valid point!! I'm sure that's why many of the buildings are being torn down and rebuilt. Things can only stay safe for so long.
