I believe culturally for Japanese ones trash is a part of ones own responsibility to take care of. No irresponsible assumption that someone is going to clean up after. I think that’s civilized.

Another great video! I appreciate that your tips were useful, practical (directly applicable) and conscientious (of not only the traveler's experience but the experience of the locals with whom the traveler will interact). Thanks for sharing ✌🏽

Hello Mizako, Thank you for your wonderful channel. I learn so much. I’m learning Japanese before I visit. Thank you again for your great advice about learning the language.

I recently found your channel. I enjoy you. One of the few channels that I can watch without having to click on the closed captions. I did start watching from one of your earlier vlogs. I was surprised to see you are only 29, I thought you would be in my age group (early 40’s). Did I hear that wrong? Anyway wishing you much success with your new venture.💯😇

Great video just came from a 15 day visit there and all the points you made are very true especially the one about waiting in lines. My whole trip I didn’t wait in line for food once because I went to food spots that served the same thing as all the popular social media spots and tasted just as good with no wait. And if you do go I suggest going in the weekdays so the you won’t be in line long at all I went to one spot in ginza and was in line for 10 minutes only.

There's a lot of stuff you can explore on rainy days! (of which you're about to have a lot of) Underground malls like in/around Shinjuku/Tokyo Stations, Indoor theme parks like Joyopolis or Namja theme town, or covered shopping streets/yokocho. There's a lot of really good ones, and I don't know exactly where you're located - but there's some good ones in Kichijoji, Koenji, and Nakano near where my house is. Be safe if the wind gets bad and during actual typhoons, don't actually go anywhere (the trains may stop and you'll get stuck!) But don't let the rain hold you back!

I heard it's better to ask 'eigo wa wakarimasu ka' instead of 'eigo wa hanasemasu ka' because Japanese people are less likely to say they can speak English but will answer with 'sukoshi' (a little) and try to understand you.

This video was very helpful. We are in Osaka right now and we were able to get a physical ICOCA card. We asked for the Suica card and the rapid airport train ticket attendant was like “that’s for Tokyo” 😅😅. I tried to get a digital Suica card but it didn’t work. For those who are going to Tokyo, you can only get the digital Suica card if you have a Mastercard already in your apple wallet (visa isn’t accepted), and your bank has to allow it. Our bank didn’t unfortunately. So who knows what we’ll do when we make our way to Tokyo in a month.

FYI. You do not have to get both ICOCA card and SUICA card, because you can use the ICOCA card not only in Osaka but in Tokyo and any cities in Japan for a vendor machine, trains, bus, and any convenient convenient stores.

You can use your card in Tokyo to I was just there 3 weeks ago on a 15 day trip and my girlfriend lost her suica card and ended up getting a the card in Osaka and was able to use it in Tokyo and everything else no issues

hi, loved your advice! question about the not eating/drinking on the street: if i get something from a vending machine, am i not allowed to drink it? is it better to wait? :)
