Dear Johnnie, what a fantastic little documentary! Totally enjoyed it, I also liked the framing and the fact that the story seamlessly continued while you had a huge variety of close shots and far away shots! Congratulations

Thank you Ted! Good to see you here too.
Excellent, but I had to watch it twice, once for the story, then again to look at the image. Thanks.

I'll take it as a compliment :)
I have had my set of the ATX II lenses for almost a year now and I love them, the 25-75 is by far the most used though. It is an awesome lens.
Johnnie thanks for your excellent work. I appreciate the skills you have in creating brilliant short films such as this one. Be well my friend.

Glad you enjoyed it
Amazing footage. Can I ask if you shot in v-log or 709? Did you use any form of lens correction on the edit and finally da Vinci resolve or premiere. It's a lovely film. You've really exploited the wide aspect of this lens. The wide screen aspect and the venue have allowed for a great film. Finally, I'm surprised you haven't mentioned barrel distortion which looks like nothing . Love it.

Sorry Nick, I missed answering your comment. All were shot in V-Log. No lens correction. Edited on Adobe Premiere. Thank you! Johnnie
Those wide shots are incredible. Tokina's create some of the best images at infinity hands down.

Yes they are! Quite unique look, haven't seen much like that before.
Hi, A nice story supported by very good images. Thanks for sharing. The lens is not for me, but in term of look, is this lens in part with the other ones form the same Tokina's family? I start to like te S5II, an affordable camera compare to its specs. But sepcs doesn't do it all, as we can see with your documentary. With a proper lens, we'll be able to get the best image from the S5II. I'm looking forward to see images more from your S5II evaluation. Thanks, Claude

Hi The Moon Shell. This is the first Tokina Cinema lens that I tested, so I can not answer your questions. The next test is with the Viltrox 1.33x anamorphic. Stay tuned. Thank you! Johnnie
like a standard 24-70 but narrower FOV,, and not quite sensor coverage. Nice
I would love to adapt the Nikon 24-120 F4 F Mount lens to the Panasonic S5 Mark 2 both versions and Panasonic S1H Mark 1 and Sony A74
Hi Jonnie, was the camera mounted on sliders/tripod for the shots? Or did you only use the IBIS of the S5II? Maybe with some further stabilisation in post? Thank you!
@CineD
Жыл бұрын
Hey 108 U. Sorry for my late response. Tripod and a small slider is all that I had with me. IBIS was on the entire time. No post stabilization. Thank you! Johnnie
Great documentary. How did you find the Auto focus on the Panasonic S5 Mark ii. Is it a massive improvement. And was this filmed on internal 10 bit 4k

Hi ruffdraft. This particular piece was filmed with the Tokina Cinema lens, so AF was not utilized. In general, Panasonic did a great job with their new AF and yes, this was all filmed in C4K and 10-bit. Thank you! Johnnie
Amazing image period . The colors are so very natural especially the skin tone . Bet Canon is jealous
14:40 Did you shoot that film at 150Mbps?
What are you filming the talking head portion of this video on Johnnie

Great review! However, I wish you guys would find someone new to do the color grading. Are they color blind? Every time Johnnie posts a test video doc, even though the story is great, the colors are awful. It seems as if someone drops in generic cinematic LUTs that renders the video with the worst color possible. Look how terrible the color is in this video. It looks like a Zombie movie. Please, just drop in the factory LUT and adjust for neutral WB and that's it. Stop destroying the image of every single camera and lens you review. We didn't evolve to amazing 10bit 422 color in these little cameras so we can have ugly color. Thanks.

Hey Will. It is only me to be blamed. I guess I am the color-blinded man...As always, I'll try and do better next time. In any case, thank you very much for your valuable input!! Johnnie
