What a kit !

YOU brought me back to Styx, single-handedly. Fair warning, 67, hobbyist drummer from 13-39; literally seen/Heard my share of all the greats....and Todd, YOU ARE one of the greats. I mean this as a compliment...you are a COMPLETE DRUMMER. You can do it all. Finesse, Power, odd time measures, genre's, ETC= a delight for a true fan of the drums. GREAT music endures, it's timeless. Your playing w/ Styx has reinvigorated that whole catalog....and I'm a bigger fan now than before. THANK YOU.

I seen Styx 62 times and been to Todds Masterclass twice. He is the best drummer of the last three decades at least!! In my humble opinion.

Could not agree more!!

Todd is one of very few true "rock" drummers that combines power, technique, explosiveness, and groove over a large kit. There's not a lot of guys that hold that orbit. Phenomenal to watch!

I just love his playing, great inspiration for all of us out there.

It's 2024 and I just saw you again at Celebrity last Friday, my favorite place to watch the great rock bands. What a fantastic show, your drumming really makes it exciting to see, I saw Pert back in 74. What a privilege seeing the two greatest Rock Drummers of all time live.

His timing is phenomenal.....imagine playing with him every night!

I love watching these up-close videos because you can not only see what Todd is doing per the execution you can also see his facial expressions and subtle eyebrow raises when he's looking at the other members as if to say, "whew, pulled that off!" even though what we see looks effortless. What a inside view to one of the top players out there right now. I truly believe that Todd has resurrected Styx and kept them in the forefront of national touring acts that may have not kept going after losing certain members. My hats off to Lawrence as well filling Dennis' spot. Amazing performer as well. Love these videos, keep em coming, Todd!

I think I’ve watched all of these 3 or 4 times, I regret that I have but one “like” to give! I just watched Tommy at Daryl’s house playing Styx songs and it’s just amazing how much life Todd adds to these songs. I had to come back and watch this again to remind me of how they’re supposed to sound!

Todd Sucherman and Simon Phillips are my favorite drummers of all time. Both are absolute masters of the kit.

My son and I met Todd at a drum clinic in Portsmouth NH back in 2018. He's a super nice guy and took time to chat with us. At the clinic, he listed his 5 rules for success, they struck a chord with me and it was a teaching moment for my then 18 year old son. Todd, I hope I got these right, please comment if not 1. Be on time (or even better, early) 2. Be prepared (know and practice the music you’re going to play) 3. Make sure you have all the equipment you need 4. Complete the job 5. Make them happy you were there (for instance, be the guy who helps the guitarist move an amp) To this day, one of my favorite pictures is of my son and Todd at the counter while Todd is signing an autograph. PS we saw STYX in Hampton NH this past Saturday, as always a great show, I love the Come Sail Away drum riff.

The whole concert I play live doesn’t require as much energy as he puts into one song!!!

I absolutely love these videos. I watch them over and over and learn so much about what is possible on the instrument. Todd, you are the greatest. And OH MAN can you boys SING! Even through the dedicated drum mics, the singing is just impeccable. Styx is a legendary band and they are right at the top of their game. Always a fantastic show.

Todd has really given the music a kick in the a$$!! He is one of the best of our time, when I saw him the first time was blown away by his mastery of all the songs!! He is a valuable member of this classic band. Now, RRHOF pull your heads out and get these guys in NOW!!

Memory, Persistence towards perfection and dedication to performances that exceed each and every night! With talented musicians to accompany him Todd’s exceptional skills shine each and every time! Bringing out a little twist to each song if you listen very carefully! Very subtly, only at live performances! God this is a mark of a true leader of the band! Well done my friend!

Hey styx always had amazing drummers I saw them a couple times with Todd and he played the parts of the drummer and the percussionist, very impressive. Thanks for the shots behind the drummer view. He really proves what the importance of those sticking patterns is. I want to break out that stick control book again and go at it NOW. Check out the ghost notes @15:52 and @ 16:02 AND THE FILL @16:22 and one more for the the pause.

My favorite player ...

I watched a video days ago detailing the drum tech & mic guy for this drummer.I know who Styx and Tommy Shaw are, but it's the first time I learned anything about this drummer.This was the kit they were setting/micing up too.I don't know how he plays some of the parts/drums he does using traditional style sticking with his left hand.Steve Smith from Journey also uses it.The only time I've ever used it was in the snare line in high school and in the Bluecoats drum corp, but I can't use it on my kit to save my life.This video was cool in how sections were played in a bunch of songs.

Just 1/2 through this I am blown away. I am a guitarist age 54. I have been to a lot of concerts. I was at a STYX concert in Albuquerque New Mexico some 7 or so years ago. Best live show and sound I have experienced. I have never seen video of just a drummer anywhere from any band before like this. Astounding. I really enjoyed this. Thank you.

It’s truly amazing how he has taken John P work and modernized the pieces into a great blend of past and present. Seeing him live is something special. I wish they make One with everything part of every set list. Some of those fills are level ten type stuff.
