In the movie he seemed like such a douchebag but here I found him super likable and chill. He just rolls with everything. He doesn't even question his sexuality, he's just like "I'm in love with this dude now" and the only issues are never having seen "sparks" before and fearing Envy's reaction. Makes me hate Wallace a bit for toying with this awesome guy's emotions like that. Remona learned her lesson with Roxie so Wallace oughta apologize at some point like she did.

I did love the fact that he just accepted that he was gay and didn’t have existential crisis over finding out he actually likes guys. He only got upset that Wallace didn’t want to be with him. The show actually ended up making me really like Todd, Lucas, and Roxie, I think it helped that you got their side of the story.

Ramona works fast, but the gays work faster

Just realized there are multiple layers. 1. Stealing Todd would definitely spite Envy. In this way, it would be Wallace being a true friend to Scott because they became roommates from that break up. Wallace is at least making Envy feel a form of emotional pain that Scott experienced. Or Wallace is able to express his annoyance for his act of kindness was taken advantage of gaining an unwanted roommate by taking it out on Envy. 2. The fact that Todd would look like Scott. It could mean multiple things, does Wallace have some form of lingering feelings or intrigue for Scott at one point in his life? Maybe. But Scott being straight, Wallace is mature enough to understand to not force things or jepordize his platonic relationship with Scott. 3. It was hinted in the movie Wallace has a hobby of converting or at least tempting men who're in the closet or bi-curious. 4. Todd falling off the wagon with food. It means that he loses his 'everything' like Gordan Goose. And we see Todd at the end of the story to improve himself again. Reforging himself with a better understanding of who he is. Todd is living the thesis of the entire show and franchise. Learn from past relationships to forge better versions of yourself.

In the comics(and hinted in the movie), Wallace straight up doesn’t like Envy at all because of prior meetings where she was acting a-holey and is super sympathetic to Scott every time Envy’s brought up because he has a grudge against her- it’s hilarious. He’s super petty at every Envy interaction, even after Scott and Envy reconcile lol. I wish they implied more that they had history in the show, even though the battle they had still was fantastic.

to be fair, Envy was also hurt when they broke up. When Scott tells her he remembers her breaking his heart, she replies that the feeling was mutual. That's why she has the whole thing in books 2 and 3, she's the vengeful ex trying to get back at him too. Because if she really didn't care, she wouldn't have spent so much time trying to hurt him again.

Well that's a nice theory. But the reality is that the author of Scott Pilgrim wasn't interested in redoing a Scott Pilgrim origin story yet again. He felt that people can read the comic or at least watch the movie for that. With this anime series, he wanted to let loose and explore the franchise with no limits. Thus why the anime has that title "Takes off".

There's a whole theory on their swing. Wallace probably only had the swing with Todd because he was dressed as Scott, their fun time was when Todd was dressed as Scott because of the line "Line, trailer." He said they would end it after production, because Todd would've no longer been Scott. This was also when Scott was gone for months.
