Probably he was chosen solely for that reason. I remember many VA jokingly calls him "Captain" a lot of times back when MCU at the peak. At the time I didn't know what the reason, then I got recommendation on KZread for Japanese Dub at the Airport Scene lol

@@jorgel.quiroz8862 yeah, José Antonio Macías is Chris Evans usual dub voice, but in the live-action movie Lucas was dubbed by José Arenas, who is known for dubbing Jake from Adventure Time. José was the only dub actor from from the live-action who didn't reprise his role in the anime, I think it was due to the dub being done remotely, since it was done in collaboration between Mexico and Argentina, but José does not like to work remotely

@@ShadowMasterT I know Kana for her role as Mitsuri Kanroji in Demon Slayer, though I'm surprised that apparently she began her career when she was a teenager in the anime Last Exile. However, I saw Scott Pilgrim Takes off in Neutral Spanish and Envy was dubbed by the same VA who dubbed her live-action version, Circe Luna, and it's interesting because she is more well known for voicing Rei Ayanami, Pan from Dragon Ball, Belldandy from Ah my Goddess! and Sora in Digimon Adventure, characters who sound very different from Envy. Though I also remember that Circe dubbed Cindy in the Nicktoon series, Jimmy Neutron

Both are pretty good, but the original English dub just has so much to it when it comes to the original actors committing to the more cartoonish nature of their characters here. One just can't watch this and say they AREN'T giving it their all with this.

Eh, it might be saying something if their "all" is a little lacking. It's obvious they aren't experienced in voice acting so I won't blame them for that, but they get an A for effort. (Mae Whitman is an exception, since she is experienced). Lot of the deliveries were a bit too quiet and didn't match how expressive the animation was

I listened to some of the dubs and most were pretty amazing! It's interesting, that the voice directions seems to be a bit "laid back". Like it's not voice acted as a typical anime or cartoon but more "real". At first I thougt that the english VA just weren't used to voicing cartoons (which may still be) but EVERY dub is laid back. Also props to the german dub. They got ALL the voice actors back from the german dub of the movie. Haven't checked the actors from the other dubs, but I love this dedication for dubs!

Oh, this series went really off the rails and diverged off the original content... and I love it!!!! And love how both the Japanese and English dubs to this iteration right!!!

I just watched it yesterday and I enjoyed it alot, no doubt the author worked on the project, it was the perfect timeline/paralel universe version, although it doesn't compare to the original comics, I have all the tomes. Now I'll watch it sll again in Japanese, while eating ramen 🍜
