Todd Bridges on Gary Coleman Dying at 42, Being the Last Diff'rent Strokes Cast Member (Part 19)

Ойын-сауық

Watch Full Interview: • Todd Bridges, Best Kno...
Part 18: • Todd Bridges: I Tried ...
Part 20: • Todd Bridges on Losing...
--------
Todd Bridges recalled an incident involving Gary Coleman at a Utah bowling alley in 2008. Coleman reportedly backed into someone and dragged them with his car after an argument broke out about a photograph taken without consent. Bridges made light of Coleman's stature, noting how Coleman had to sit on phonebooks to see over the wheel when driving. Tragically, Gary Coleman passed away in 2010. Bridges fondly remembered a trip they'd both embarked on shortly before Coleman's passing, voicing frustration over unanswered questions surrounding the accidental circumstances of his death. Bridges then touched on the ensuing legal battles that occurred after Coleman's death between his parents, business associates, and ex-wife, leading to the cancellation of Coleman's funeral. The conversation led to Bridges being the only surviving original cast member of “Diff'rent Strokes.” Bridges views his survival and current health as a testament to his mission to help others understand addiction.

According to Todd the relationship between him and Gary grew sour during the 3rd season of different strokes. It remained sour throughout the series. Todd blamed Gary's father for the downfall. He didn't want Gary playing with the other kids. Todd was supposed to make a cameo appearance on the Fresh Prince. He thinks Gary has something to do not making that appearance

@@lawrencedaniels9231 Yes, there is many photos, of the two of them together, at convention signings and general public appearances and Dana is always touching Todd and Gary, on the face or kissing Gary, on the cheek. She seemed to be the happiest, when she was with any of them. Probably reminded her of the "good days".

Todd actually saved the life of a paraplegic woman who’s wheelchair rolled into a lake while she was fishing. He also had the Todd Bridges Youth Foundation where he helped underprivileged kids and troubled kids. And even though he was on drugs and constantly being arrested he always took time to take care of the foundation.

You forgot Charlotte Rae, although she was on one or two seasons. Regarding Gary’s Wife, I suspect foul play. Plus she all takes a photo of Gary in the ICU for the Enquirer for 10K. His Wife smoked him and that 10K likely was gone within a month’s time. I read that they were having problems from day one and she mistreated him. Living in Utah with her was a huge red flag considering how colorless those towns are. SMH.

Wow! to hear him talk so intelligently is mind blowing because at one time in his career he was way out there on drugs doing ridiculous things, over and over and none of it was good, so glad to see and hear he's got his life in order despite of the pain he endured losing his cast members at a early age's, at one time I thought he wouldn't live a long time, but thank God he was saved.

Gary's ex-wife is/was Shannon Price, who married him in the attempt to advance her own career by using whatever shine Gary had left -- She even coerced Gary to appear on that TV show "Divorce Court" to get publicity & sympathy for herself. Then after they divorced & Gary was hospitalized, she tried to say that they were still living together in common-law to try to keep living in his house!!! How she got or retained the final authority to pull the plug on Gary is beyond me....Put her ass on blast!!!

One of several reasons Gary Coleman’s parents were so crummy is with all his medical problems and how long they lasted they still felt the need to spend all his money. That guy could have needed another transplant but had no money to get one.

Gary was unfairly labeled as an “angry black man”. Which he had EVERY right to be after being TOTALLY RIPPED OFF by his parents, management etc. it just hurts me as hard as that boy worked on “Different Strokes” in the end he had NOTHING to show for it. But I’m glad Todd is still here to articulate THE TRUTH. Thank U TOdd.

Ever see a very young Todd Bridges in an episode of Barney Miller? He was an excellent child actor who on the one hand was lucky enough to be on a hit TV show but unfortunately got locked into a hit TV show often playing second banana to Gary Coleman's Arnold. Then again everyone played second banana to the break through Arnold character.
