I'm sure that the people of London are used to this. For those of us across the pond this is a beautiful site. Love the horse guards.

John your comments are so right, it's a privilege for the public to have access to Horse Guards. I wish they'd put up 'no access' signs by the arches. Maybe other signs to educate ignorate tourist not to taunt or disrespect military personnel that are on duty.

If they would stop using the reins so harshly that the horses keep flicking their heads (those ridden and unfortunately LEAD with at the bits) this would be a much lovlier sight. :'D

As we now know its IRRESPONSIBLE for one rider to imagine he is in control of more than 1 horse in a dangerous urban environment. Its not fair to the horses that get loose, gallop for 6 miles across London and end up physically and psychologically damaged. Why were the riders at the back not riding beside the lead horses to offer more protection/ reassurance. Mad. Inexperienced riders obviously dont help. It takes years to be a competent rider , not just 1 tour of duty for a non riding soldier allocated to the cavalry. Its a problem that needs addressing for everyones sake.

Where is the Hi VIS PPE? Apart from contravening Rule 50 of the HighWay Code, wearing uniform designed to hide you, when the most important aspect of riding on the roads is too be seen, is downright stupid. The army needs a good talking to by The Met' Mounted Branch.

Horses belong in farms and open grounds . Walking on asphalt roads must be stressful to their bodies specially with a rider sitting on them . Where is th RSPCA ? Or are these beautiful animals kept for the vanity of the useless royals ?

Horses are used for dog food in most countries. These are well cared for and belong to the Army. The RSPCA is for animals in need of rescue and emergency treatment.

Tractors are used on farms where once upon a time Shire and other heavy horses were used. These horses actually have a great life with 24 hr care/vet/farrier etc. The household Cavalry is really impressive, Google it and see. These horses retire in their teens and are still in tip top condition. 👍
