“Toba Tek Singh” by Saadat Hassan Manto | Narration and Critical Analysis

The best ever story on partition so far. It's nuances, and depth is unparalleled. Only Manto could write such a masterpiece, depicting human dimensions of the personal tragedy of the central character with due reference to the context. Kudos to the master storyteller!

Anglo-Indian meaning mixup of Indian and Britain. In dono se jo bache paida huye usko Anglo-Indian kehte hai. Ab isme bacha gora aur brown kaisa bhi paida ho sakta hai. Anglo-Indian converted Christian nahi hote.

A mediocre writer being elevated to the level of some genius. Punjabis and Pashtuns should stick to fighting only, being martial races.

Sorry the dissection of the novel toba tak singh is not so impressive, and unnecessarily, and got overexplained, and quite made up explanations. By the way, I must like to inform Dr sahib that he still need to read more about the ground reality of the region instead of giving made up stories and false history. So Anglo-Indians were indeed NOT the local Indian population that got converted to Christianity or adopted their values. The fact is they were factually the descendants of Europeans, primarily British, who moved to India during the time of the East India Company and intermarried with the local Indian population. This intermingling resulted in a distinct community with a mixed British and Indian heritage. Their cultural identity, professions, and way of life were influenced by both, their British forefathers and Indian traditions. As the British Raj ended and India gained independence, many Anglo-Indians chose to remain in the country, while others migrated to other parts of the world. For example BBC famous name Mark Tully born in Tollygunge, British India, in 1935. Son of a British businessman in India one of kind of Anglo Indians
