I constantly watch and listen to her sing that song, it's so emotional. She still has that magical and mystical air about her that's very inspiring. \

From the vantage point of 2023, this is the most unintentionally hilarious episode of the entire series. I mean, an utter FRAUD was actually a contestant on "To Tell the Truth." Not only a contestant, but the SUBJECT of the round, and all three contestants, including the FRAUD, pretended to be BSM. But BSM was actually the one who lied about everything. This show is unbelievably hilarious.

Buffy looks very Italian here,funny how no one picked up on that when she first made her public appearances. She didn’t wear the feathers and beads yet to alter her image. There’s nothing extraordinary about her voice nothing to make her stand out amongst other folk singers at the time until she claimed to be Cree.

Buffy was identifying as American/Canadian native. I actually wonder what’s wrong with that nowadays since it seems we can identify as anything we want, and the distinction between different races and ethnicities is a lot more artificial than the natural distinction between male and female. If a male can dress like a female, act like a female Live like a female and claim to be female, why can’t a non-Indian dress like, live like and claim to be an Indian and not be accepted as one? We have everything upside down and backwards.

I think "Until It's Time For You To Go" is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. And Norma Bidwell could be Peggy Cass' sister!

Buffy is awesome.

Saw Buffy in concert a couple of years ago. Great performance.

LOL "That Buffy folk singer was very talented..." In 50 years, people will say, "Wow, that Beyoncé singer was very talented." (For those of you who don't know [likely due to your age], Buffy Sainte Marie was one of folk music's superstars, especially in the 1970s. She's in her 80s now and I believe still performs.)

@@gregorypaules9987 i’m writing my comment in November 2023. You wrote your comment just a few months ago, before we knew about the revelations of her identity and background. Even with that, I still agree with your comment. However, I think it is sad that she had to resort to the tactics she did to project the indigenous background that she did. That is nothing short of shameful. She is still a wonderful singer with a 60+ year career behind her. That’s commendable. I wish I could have responded to your comment by also writing that I felt she was a wonderful person. Great singer? Yes. Long career and long life? Yes and Yes. Wonderful and exemplary person? If I had responded to your post a few months ago, right after you posted it, I would probably have said she was an exemplary person. Sadly, as of November 2023, not so much.

This blew my mind completely.

I hope to God the thumbnail doesn't give away the identity of the real Buffy. I guess I was wrong but it's 👌 because I got to hear her sing. Well now, no matter how old I get I learn something new almost every day, cooking while driving now I have heard everything until tomorrow that is

Robert Surface (segment three) passed away in 2008. He ultimately went to spend 31 years in the Navy, retiring as a captain.

Why did folk music fade away? It was very popular in the 1960's. It's good music.

Folk music was in response to injustices in the U.S. Soon after we had the Beatles, hippies, the Vietnam war and these set at least half the nation against the hypocrisy since. No one after was going to take any more bullshit!

Oh my god. Ms. Sainte-Marie's song was extraordinary.

I'm surprised that in 1966 none of the panel had ever seen her. She was on many programs.

The only TV show devoted to folk music was "Hootenanny" it was a far different time. After all, we only had three TV channels.

One of the two "impostors", Victoria Racimo, later appeared in a number of television episodes.

The squares get schooled live of the new groove! How rare and sweet that they actually gave Buffy the stage! What a contrast the folk singing to the next round! Those women, from their gestures, were clearly from my grandmother's generation. Such sweet gestures! Wow, Olsten's temporaries was already around in the 60s? The car cooking idea is wild! But unless it's in a pressure cooker, it would get contamination.

Yes, my very first paying job (excluding lawn mowing, newspapers, etc.) was a temp job I obtained through Olsten's. And the year was 1966. Still have my 1040, believe it or not.

Actually being Native was cool in the 1960s and 1970s and still unique enough to make her stand out

surprising that the makers thought St. Marie was sufficiently unknown in '66 as not to be known to the paneliss, s fairly, at least, sophisticaed group.

Fifty-seven years ago Bluffy Sainte-Marie, was confirming her lies on a show called "To Tell the Truth" - how arrogant of her!

Buffy never had any hits as a singer, but several as a songwriter. The last one was Where Eagles Fly (Love Lifts Us Up), which was the theme song for An Officer and a Gentleman. I believe she's still alive and living in Canada.

KEN LIEBERMAN I had tears in my eyes as Buffy sang her song. So much tenderness and a lovely arrangement. Other soloists like ND sing nicely but the orchestral elements overwhelm the simplicity of the theme. Actually I don't know how anyone on TTTT that day could have listened with dry eyes. Bud's response was perfect. I only wish the rest of the show was more from Buffy! I went from this episode to searching for more of her videos.

I thought she lived in Hawaii. I live in Toronto and worked on Front Desk Guest Services at a Downtown Hotel and had the pleasure of checking her into the same Hotel back in the eighties. She was petite. One of the best songs I recall she ever wrote [and hope it will never be forgotten] was "Until It's Time for You to Go" ….ah so poignant.....oh! She sings it here.

A dead give away! However she could have been very nervous in front of a nationwide t.v. audiences.

The song that Buffy sang has been recorded by some mediocre artists like Neil Diamond and Elvis Presley. Buffy and her two contestants were attractive young ladies. #2 was attractive plus. The panel had a 75% hit rate. A great night for them.

I met Buffy in the.60‘s in Florida I think Fort Lauderdale it was the college break and parties down there and I drove by drove down there from Kentucky with a couple of friends. Buffy was playin for the Ford foundation I think, a free show on the beach I was on the front row. After the show perfect came down and talk to us have a banjo player and folksinger and now 83 years old. Buffy Sainte Marie invited us to her motel for breakfast the next morning and of course we went I’ll never forget it. We were from Kentucky and she was wanting a thoroughbred hourse to bread with a Indian pony. And old folks song. Loved meting her. Wish I could talk to her now.
