OK, I think I've come to the conclusion that Winter Gas is likely unfit even for the lowliest of lawnmowers.

Only put ethanol free in my vehicles most of the time. Sometimes it's not available. My vehicles aren't "flex fuel" as far as I know, so I get worse mileage and noticably less power when I use ethanol crap.

Yep, I wish we had E-free around here but nobody carries it. I noticed when tuning my Sportster, Dyna, & Road King the fuel maps could be varied on the Dynojet Power Vision by whether it was E10, E-free, etc (here fuel would be considered E10 "contains up to 10% Ethanol" label on the pumps). The air/fuel ratio for non-E was 14.6(A) to 1(F) while E10 was 14.1(A) to 1(F). I actually rewrote whole fuel maps to match the E10 A/F ratios on my Dyna & RK. They both ran amazingly better and cooler too. Thank you for reminding me about the ethanol issue and thank you for watching too!

Well if you build a motor to run to run E-85? Well you can run it at 12.5 to 1 or a bit higher compression.. BUTT you can't run it on premium and defiantly not on regular Lots of horses and a lot of fuel per mile. But can be more than enough HP from a smaller engine. Forney also NOT does like vehicles that go really fast. It scares the women and horses. If you live in CA. Forney & CARB puts alcohol in every gasoline pump. There is less energy in the alcohol than the oils in gasoline. CA= a good place to be far away from.

I was under the impression that summer gas has more additives to reduce volatility and decrease vaporization. Winter gas would have less additives and the air would be cooler and more oxygen dense. I would think it would run less fuel efficient in summer.

I would've thought the same too, but ever since I found out about it I've been watching fuel economy on everything and I've noticed reduced MPGs on everything from my Pan Am to my Honda Fit, to my F-150 in the winter. Others have had the same experience too, so I know it's not a one off. Also, here an excerpt from a car & driver article- *"Despite those higher prices, summer gasoline contains about 1.7 percent more energy than winter gasoline. Warmup times aside, that’s why you could measure reduced fuel economy outside the summer months."* www.caranddriver.com/news/a15339380/the-vapor-rub-summer-versus-winter-gasoline-explained/ I do fuel economy updates to track not just fuel economy in general, but the fuel economy I get during seasons, and the fuel economy I get when using certain brands/companies (around here BP is where I get the best MPGs, Sheetz is by far the worst). I'm not sure why I started it but if it helps anyone save a few bucks or get a few more miles from a tank then I think that's great. Thank you for watching!

I'm curious about the color of the nozzle you used to fill up the tank with. Around here the green nozzle is alway diesel fuel.

lol, it's green because it's BP, they don't sell diesel there😉

Fun? TBH, it reminds me of my Aprilia Shiver (V or L twin whatever nomenclature they prefer) just a little, but also with a little thump like my old 1200 Sportster Evo (weighs the same as my old Sporty too, but with 2X the HP & 20 more Tq)... yep, I'm gonna stick with "Fun". Plus, you don't have to wait for parts from Italy or try to find the elusive Eurocycle dealer (closest to me is 100 miles away) for service work. Hot damn, it's like a 'merican Ducati with a better dealer network and readily available parts😳

I always use Sunoco whenever possible.

We don't have Sunoco around here, so it's BP, Speedway, and as a last resort- Sheetz. BP is my regular choice and I've had over 50 mpg runs on it regularly. If I ever see a Sunoco I'm surely give it a shot as it's recommended by others too. Thank you for watching!

PS: My bike has all updates none have affected performance. Has got to be the gas. I use Sunoco 91 and 93 octane whenever available which is always in this part of Penn. I always but branded fuel when traveling. 36 mpg is horrible. The lowest Ive ever exprienced in my PA was 40 mpg. Winter blend and interstate commuting the probably the likely cause. This past Fri-Sat 500 mile ride 49-50 mpg average.

I've noticed my PAS likes BP 93, is OK with Speedway 93 losing only about 1 MPG from the BP 93, and despises Sheetz 93. Sheetz 93 is minus 5 MPGs from the BP 93. I have no doubt it's the winter gas now, my fuel economy has been steadily climbing, except when I use Sheetz 93(stuff is unfit even for my lawnmower). I never had any engine lights appear though. I just did a 350 mile trip today to just North of Akron, OH for a group ride with family & friends then back home averaging 48-49 MPGs so I think the Winter gas is working it's way out of my tank. I wonder how many folks freak when their bike loses 13-14 MPGs overnight? That sort of loss can often mean there's an issue with the bike. I guess the RevMax is more sensitive to fuel than the M8s? Anyway, thank you for watching and the comments, being able to compare notes is great. It gives other PAS owners an idea of what to expect too.

@Chase_N Glad to hear of the improvement in your fuel mileage. I never buy gas from any but branded fuel stations. Sunoco my number one. In my years of interstate touring I have on rare occasion got a bad tank of gas from branded fuel. But only two or three times in a life time. Stick with branded fuels and issues will be minimal.

Chase, A few comments on gasoline. This winter past I also experienced poor fuel economy in both my PA and my Ford Focus. Along with that a few random check engine lights coming from the O2 sensors on both. Three on the PA that never came on after I cleared them for a week or two. The one in my car was on for more than a month. As soon as the winter blend fuel was gone from Sunoco gas which is all I burn when its available. No more check engine light from either. Mind you these were history never current check engine lights. My car cleared the codes itself. I am not a fuel engineer but some friends experienced the same with late model 4 wheeled vehicles. Never in my case nor theirs was overall performance affected. Fuel mileage was to a degree but not severely. I just completed a 500 mile Western Pennsylvania tour on the PA and my overall average was 49 to 51 mpg. All systems normal.
