This is a very quick video of our best year to date (3 years) for making maple syrup from the four mature maple trees we have on our 5 acre farm. Despite the small set up, it is still a whole lot of work to turn sap into syrup. Below are links to the sap collection buckets I use.

Nice! I like getting the real stuff every now and then. I really need to try to make my own someday. 👍👍

JW. Real maple syrup soooo much better than 'pancake' syrup. But $$$$. If you have access to some mature maples it is forth a try. A lot of work. Ratio is about 45 to 1. So you have to boil off 44 gallons to make 1 gallon of syrup. I went through a big stack of firewood this season.

@TryNewThings no sugar maples on my land. I have a few silver maples. Not sure how well they work.

@@projectswithjw 3 of my 4 are silver and one sugar. They work just fine, maybe just more boiling.
Always fun to make syrup and tastes better too. We’re done here also, trees started to bud.
Wahoooo. Your own Maple Syrup - nothing like it. 😊

It tastes better when you put so much work into making it.
Nothing like pure maple syrup - especially your own.

Agreed 100%! Lots of work, but I enjoy the end results. Thanks for taking the time to leave such a great comment.
Those who wander why real maple syrup is expensive have never tried making it.

Isn't that the truth... Whole lot of work for about a gallon of syrup.
