I remember when the pilot was released as a rental vhs in norway, it was almost nowhwere to be found (we still had video rental stores back then), so I wrote a letter to WB studios norway asking where i could find a copy to rent... One week later i get a packet in the mail.. Free copy of B5 the pilot! Way to go warner bros!!!

Bruce's voice still hypnotizes me after all these 20 years. Perfect pronouncation and elocation... Such a nice team work it was. Miss all of them.

All these years later, this is still my favorite story... my favorite "space soap opera"... the story, and morality is akin to Star Trek I was ALWAYS a Minbari human hybrid...

Babylon 5 is much much better than Star trek. The alien races are much more realistic than anything in Star Trek, the tech level of every alien race is much more realistic as they all don't have the same level of tech and not everything is black and white which it is made out to be in Star Trek most of the time. Babylon 5 is much more grown up than any sci-fi show I've ever watched and that's why Babylon 5 the best sci-fi show ever made.

Sad how many of the cast have passed on.

it's 2019 and I decided to rewatch it again - and found out it hasn't aged at all - at least, writing and ideas wise, though I wouldn't mind they redo all these visual effects and finally release it on Blu-Ray. Dreams, dreams...

It really is a masterpiece. I would too love to see it on Blu-ray but is never going happen as this show is just too underrated. Shame as it the best sci-fi show ever made.

The HBO MAX version rescanned the live action film and up-rezzed the CGI to make a 1080p version. It's worth watching again.

Best series ever. All those beyond the rim will be remembered.

Been looking for this for years, I really wish they would have put this on one of the DVDs

This is perfection. The cast is so immersed in their roles. Almost everything clicked so right with this show.

Rewatching currently, having great time.

What is really appreciated about B5 is the morphological diversity of the aliens. Yes, they are anthropomorphic but different from humans. The store scene of an alien in a human mask and a human in an alien mask is memorable. StarTrek only changed minor details of the face, elf ears, nasal wrinkles, forehead wrinkles, haircuts and nothing else, biological androids (and they took a long time to include at least one different morphology). Humans and aliens are so similar that they even have compatible sex, which is weird. By the way, I love both series, B5 and ST. But I never understood why ST's aliens were so physically human.

i know Jeremy doyle from alchohol abuse and Michael O'Hare from depression who commited suicide the reason why bruce boxtliner replaced him. It is so sad so very sad considering as i know how Michael O'Hare feels now yes i suffer from depression.

When he jumped on Z'Hadum, I ended up on my knees in front of the TV, weeping. (This is the wife speaking by the way). Loved the series, hated the beard. When my brother gave me the boxed series (including the films and Crusader) for my 50th birthday, he became my most favoured relative for ever. I watched with horror as the buffoon became the tyrant, and suffered with G'Kar every step of the way. Ivanova is exactly what I would expect - though unfortunately unlikely given our latest crop of "safe space " seeking wet nellies. Garibaldi & Zak are exactly what they should be.

I loved this series. I tried to get a lot of my friends to watch this, but almost all of them complained that it was too similar to star trek. (Which is B/S, in my opinion.) So not many of them watched it, not until it was well into its third season.

Same or some of them complained the the visual effects or CGI was bad so they stopped watching. Which is disappointing.

The only thing that can be fully traced to star trek that crossed over, is the doctors... They couldn't cross the barrier to separate the two shows...

The Last Starfighter was one of the first films to do their spacecraft in full CGI ... but fans preferred the models - so the film makers went back to models ... i think i still prefer model spacecraft... but B5 sure did a great job with low budget cgi fx ...

Yeah, they showed him there but didn't acknowledge him formally. No time spent on his command of Babylon 5. Granted, I preferred Sheridan... but have respect for Sinclair.

How did the Aliens understand each other, this isn't explain in the show. Farscape and Star Trek both explain how they communicated with different races.

In the show, you see aliens speaking Basic (English) because they learned it. Basic is the language of commerce. Some Humans also speak Minbari. Aliens that haven't learned (or can't speak) Basic use devices that translate their language, either portable "ipad" like devices or globe-like objects that translate speech in realtime. It's also mentioned in the show that in business dealings & first-contact situations telepaths are used, since thoughts and emotions can be read directly without the complications of deciphering language

Why is Michael O'hare not mentioned in this so disrespectfull they are just mentioning Bruce Boxtliner which yeah sure he is a main character but so was O'hare.
