Tivoli Gardens, One Year Later. Part 3
In this, the third of a three-part series, Elaine Edwards shares the struggles she has been through since the security operations in West Kingston last year.
Jamaica Constabulary Force policemen and Jamaica Defence Force soldiers entered Tivoli Gardens on May 24, 2010 in search of Christopher 'Dudus' Coke, community benefactor who was wanted in the United States to answer to gun and drug trafficking charges.
Aside from the infrastructural damage and trauma experienced by residents, over 70 people were killed during the security operations. However, others say many more were killed. Elaine tells her story.

This cries are very moving..... i am proud that the gleaner has made (and are making) moves to get the voice of the Jamaican people heard. Hopefully these cries will not fall on deaf ears and i'm praying the Gleaner and all the media of Jamaica will play the voice of the people till the cries are loud enough in the ears of those responsible as to cause a positive reaction, a change.
nice
I can feel your pain my sister ❤️
I don't care how many children that women has she should not be treated in the way she was treated. Goid people has suffered and no one has came to their head. The people didn't have much but they were doing their best until the war started now they are being treated like it's their fault it happened. What is the world coming to I just can't see it yet! May prayers to them all and I pray to God to come and help them even if it has been a while since it has happened because other wickedness a gon up in JA God protect the innocent children that are being killed as we speak.
Oh this is terrible. So heartbreaking........
I was thinking that...it's like my sympathy stopped when I heard 7 children, but---her pain as well as this issue is so much MORE than my "judgment." OMG, I wish I could help her...
Why hide her face but show her name smfh.. praying 4 her peace n safety..
Seven children.I think these people should look in the mirror first.Did you think the struggle would have been easier the more children you had?A unnu a bring di pickney dem inna suffering.
i feel sorry for her... but we all saw the gunmen setting up for war with the barricades and everything else. We all saw how they killed 2 police straightaway and set fire to police stations... what did anyone expect to happen after that??? There is no way a government can/should put up with open armed rebellion. Blame the gunmen!!
WHAT A GRATE GOVERNMENT WE HAVE JAH KNOW FI THEM TIME SOO COME GOD NAA SLEEP
This hit hard broo😢😢😢😢😢

sad my people have it so hard kmt
@chichibud31 I'm not saying that what the people of Tivoli (who baricaded the area) did was right. @ the same time, the way these soldiers behave constantly shows great impunity & I find it absolutely repulsive. Do u honestly think that after this woman had a gunshot wound in her abdomen it was right 4 a policeman to address her by way of derogatorily using the term gal & ask her if she thinks the police vehicle is an ambulance? Police are put in place 2 serve & protect Jcan citizens no matter
SO BECAUSE WE ARE POOR WE ARE NOW THE CRIMINALS RATHER THAN THE VICTIMS....AND THEY WONDER WHY PEOPLE PUT THEIR TRUST IN CRIMINALS RATHER THAN LAW ENFORCERS...DAMN SHAME??
The United nations should've hold the JDF accountable for war crimes against civilians in Tivoli Gardens
And then these same people pon tv a talk bout bruce we forgive you and we love you, then dem go vote fi him again. If dem nuh sorry fi demself how can I be sorry for them when I would want to
Why did they disguise her face, but yet they've published her name?!!! Dat nuh mek no fkkkkng sense!!!
my god this is so sad our people wicked, the government use these poor people as pawns.
Its a shame *smh*
