Tivoli Gardens, One Year Later. Part 1
In this, the first of a three-part series, Minette describes what it has been like for her and her family since the security operations in West Kingston last year.
Jamaica Constabulary Force policemen and Jamaica Defence Force soldiers entered Tivoli Gardens on May 24, 2010 in search of Christopher 'Dudus' Coke, community benefactor who was wanted in the United States to answer to gun and drug trafficking charges.
Aside from the infrastructural damage and trauma experienced by residents, over 70 people were killed during the security operations. However, others say many more were killed. Minette's story is one of many.

An update would be good to see. I hope this woman managed to get a house for her family. Bless her. 🙏🏾⭐
I despise people who attack the innocent.
I feel for her, her pain and anguish. This is sad and they should get help.
The things we take for granted here in the UK. I'd love to send that woman money and medicines for her children. Is there a genuine charity to help people from Tivoli?
Jah know don’t worry yourself big woman just stay strong.✊🏽❤️
This brings tears to my eyes. Oh Well!
This is sad. I pray you get something soon. Bless!

oh no, my point 2:38 She is going spend another $1,000,000JMD to rebuild her life in a high crime neighborhood. WHY? There are many many areas in Jamaica that are low crime parishes. My God, even drug dealers move out of the ghetto! Why can she?
so why would the soldier and police want to burn your house down can someone explain to me please

Problems with communities like this is people have children they can't afford then go right into victim mode.one kid sure ,but multiple kids that's just ignorance .if u can't affordm don't havem

People talk about "god will provide." If that is so, then he provides the blood in our veins, the muscle and the will to take what is ours, to right what is wrong and to bring fire on those that would downtrod the people

Why some people believe this woman, who like many of our mothers, cleans toilets for a living should share in the responsibility for what the showa posse has done is beyond reason. The whole incident came to this because of the ineptitude within the Government and the security forces.
I respect that woman
I would love to send this woman something.

SO BECAUSE WE ARE POOR WE ARE NOW THE CRIMINALS RATHER THAN THE VICTIMS....AND THEY WONDER WHY PEOPLE PUT THEIR TRUST IN CRIMINALS RATHER THAN LAW ENFORCERS...DAMN SHAME?? TEARS I PRAY FOR THIS WOMAN
the strong wait for god, the weak become the same as the evil they seek revenge from!! no one know the time or hour. it's like death its guaranteed but no one know when, how, where.
definitely sad... but that's what happens in a civil war... if it was really the soilders that did it - then she is right that they will reap... but that community is also reaping from all the hundreds of muderders that came from there that wreaked havoc not only in Jamaica - but also overseas.
@francoandre2008 No Jamaica is on a dangerous path to eradicate it self... The poor is Jamaica...Just ask Bob or Marcus Garvey if they were still alive...rest in peace...Your prayers will not go unanswered Africans suffers in Jamaica!
"The poverty of our century is unlike that of any other. It is not, as poverty was before, the result of natural scarcity, but of a set of priorities imposed upon the rest of the world by the rich. Consequently, the modern poor are not pitied...but written off as trash. The twentieth-century consumer economy has produced the first culture for which a beggar is a reminder of nothing." ~John Berger

Just because someone is suffering doesnt mean someone else caused it...the nonsense fingerpointing helps no one and the fact is that wealth creates other wealth....poor people dont help fuckin anyone! Take some lessons from the productive people and nations out there, and stop trying to mask your jealousy of the rich as some kind of virtue, because free market capitalism, low taxes (not massive government spending on projects like Tivoli Gardens, ill tell you thats half the problem right there) and hard work can make any nation prosper....Jamaica has some work to do on that front. Especially as an Island Nation you have to work ten times as hard as a nation like Russia or America, that has vast natural resources, to create business and industry if you dont want to end up fucked! Why should anyone, especially the "rich" strangers halfway around the world whose cash you feel entitled to, invest in you more than you invest in yourself?
This shit is too deep...but dis a reality still. World messed up.
Jah know star kmrt

The innocent always pay for the evil that man do . keep the fate, god see all things!!!!. they can beat the laws of man but they will never beat GOD judgement.
@cinnamonstar808 because there are no jobs to support bills and security for peace of mind in Jamaica.
