Tivoli Gardens: Jamaica’s Most Dangerous Garrison! 🇯🇲
Tivoli Gardens aka Tivoli Gully is a Garrison located in West Kingston neighbourhood of Kingston, Jamaica.
Developed in a renewal project between 1963 and 1965, the neighbourhood continues to suffer from poverty, unemployment and crime.
By the late twentieth century, it had become a centre of drug trafficking activity and social unrest in Jamaica.
This particular part of the country has a really bad reputation amongst locals so I wanted to pay a visit for myself.

The fact that Valiant was playing in the background the moment he entered Tivoli Gardens was top tier 💫✨💫🔥🔥🔥🔥
It's not where you live It's how you live..Tivoli does have its problems but there are good people living there. IT'S THE HEART OF A MAN THAT MATTERS❤

It never ceases to amaze me how Jamaica is so fascinating to foreigners and us Jamaicans seem to be quick to undermine how special our homeland is. Good bad and indifferent is what makes her what she is. Love Jamaica! Time for us to step up to the plate and love our fellow citizens. After all X marks the special spot on earth. One Love!🇯🇲

@DonnellOkafor0304 it’s something that if you are a poor person that you will never understand. The dominant consciousness over the domain of earth, is that of the Caucasian consciousness. By his standards that are set, it is through this way you live in poverty, if that is what you are. his world is not perfect as you could see, and a great deal of the caucasians Don’t want poor people to exist on the planet. And it’s not that they want to eliminate the poor people by killing them off brutally but they would like to just end poverty itself . But before they can do that, they have to know what it is because most of them don’t know what property is.. One of them can go to rock-bottom bank account emptied but that doesn’t mean that he is poor or in poverty as he can find ways to gain his wealth back and as long as he is capable of doing this, he has never ever poor. But what he is trying to figure out is that if he can go to the bottom and come back up and you are there at the bottom? Why can you not come up? What is holding you down? He’s not from the bottom so enable for somebody to defeat an enemy they first must have to know what that enemy is I know everything about him and when I say enemy, I don’t mean you I mean, poverty itself is the enemy. Please try and understand..

Chris, you need a standing ovation. Not only are you super brave to go to Tivoli by yourself, but really noble in your quest to find positivity there. The residents appear to be super welcoming and willing to move past the negative stigma plaguing this community. It was good to see the warmth people gave you from this video, even tho it was interrupted when you were told to put down the camera In the past things were so much worse in Tivoli, the early 2010s in particular. Since then, there have been many infrastructural improvements and repairs, with barely any signs of a civil war. Coupled with the fact that you were able to enter and exit safely, this could be a sign of things changing for the better. I may not know why that one man told you to cut the footage, but the inner cities of Downtown Kingston really need more positive outlooks like this.

This is great! Chris know the road code he asked the man if it's ok to keep filming. He is showing the other side of ghetto, where real people live with real business trying to make it.
Great content. I am sorry that the videoing ended so abruptly but I can truly understand the anxiety to expose certain 'things'. Importantly, the message is one of hope. I am sure that this is the beginning of thoughts to have Tivoli as Mr. Seaga envisioned. A place of peace and true prosperity for all. A place where the address is not deterrent for decent people who want to truly live. Good job Chris! Yes. A place I have spent my childhood summers playing Hop Scotch!
I know your content on jamaica is so good by the thousands of view with video's only days old good job chris keep it coming
Chris you earn you respect , heart a gold
I loved this content. I attended St. Alban's primary School Miss Decosta and Mr Pusey was the head teachers at the time, I then went on to St.Annes Secondary. I have been back to Jamaica on several occasions but never went there, all my fond memories came flooding back. The cemetery, we use to go there to pick plums, not much trees there now. Tivoli Gardens at one time had a beautiful park. Its still a lovely place wonderful people, I can see the land is there and now used to show case our icons. Chris, thanks for the journey.❤

I think I drove by that cemetery when I was out there and I went in the hood in Kingston and got my nails painted by a local just so I can pay them and I got a tattoo done in Kingston even though I got a cover right now. Lol big up yourself Chris always in land. Love it. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 safe travels pon the gravel 🇯🇲
WORTHY SUBSCRIBTION AND LIKE. As a Jamaican I can only say we appreciate you to show that this place is not as awful as the media highlights it to be. BIG UP.
Hi Chris. I was just browsing. This was an awesome video. Very interesting Bless. Am originally from St Thomas JA. Real country. But left over 50 yrs. About 20 yrs ago my daughter and niece went Tivoli with good friends-music. They had fun then. I still go visit. 😊😊
I believe unfortunate circumstances allow people to behave a certain way. Tivoli Gardens residents have to find ways to survive and get recognized in their own way. Survival of the fittest. Government needs to meet people where they are. Many needs a deserving chance for change but help is a must. I appreciate this mini documentary. Keep up the good work
I am a Jamaican who has never been to Trench Town, Craig Town and Tivoli...but Christmust put me on his list and took me there...when you bravely got out the car of the jolly taxi driver I told myself, Chris nuh friad at all! Respect due! Where do we go next?

When I lived in Trench Town as a child in the sixties, people were so terrified of the place that one night we went out on the sidewalk and threw sand and gravel into passing cars, and not body stopped! But we it was just an ordinary peaceful community. Many years later, living in Montego Bay, I saw a friend with a travel bag, and asked her where she was going. She said Tivoli and it was my turn to react to the hype! But she assured me that " dem naaw trouble yuh, only if dem have "war". 10:56
