I wish that deleted scene had stayed in the 1997 film. So powerful and historical.

Not really far fetched, Ismay did try this in real life to officer moody and Moody snapped at him. Once he realized that it was Ismay he went to the captain and asked if he should begin taking on passengers for that lifeboat and lower it, and the captain said yes. @@sp1n4l_sn4p

I love how Lightoller's response in the 1958 film is actually relatively tame compared to Lowe's responses in the other three films. He very firmly but politely asks Ismay to leave. "Will you kindly not interfere, sir?" That's the most British command I've ever heard.

the Irony is that Lightoller was the most vile officer, who at least on three occasions threatened to shoot passengers, and actually added to the low survival rate rather than save as many as possible like Murdoch

The deleted scene from the 1997 film where the Deck Officer says to Bruce Ismay: "You're a passenger and I'm a ship's bloody officer," had it not been deleted from the final cut of the film, would have have served as a call-back to where Bruce Ismay says to Captain Smith: "Of course I'm just a passenger, I leave it to your good Officers to decide what's best."

One of tbe moments that show how much ismay cared about getting the boats away and safe as quick as possible. An episode that is often conveniently skipped

The facts behind this: It was Fifth Officer Lowe who yelled at Ismay, not Second Officer Lightoller ('A Night to Remember' is wrong there). However, Ismay calmly accepted he was in the wrong and there was no "do you know who I am" nonsense ('A Night to Remember' is most accurate in terms of Ismay's response, even if his character in general is pretty awfully portrayed in that film). Strangely, while 'SOS Titanic' has probably the most melodramatic Ismay response (with the 1997 'Titanic' a close second), it's the most accurate in terms of Lowe's outburst. "Get to hell out of it" is indeed what he said - 'go to hell' was such a seriously bad phrase back then that when he reluctantly revealed exactly what he'd said at the inquiry, there were audible gasps in the chamber.

After they did calm him down, he did a better job ushering passengers and in that did an amazing job before being told to get into a boat where no one else was left.
