This is fitted backwards from the ones I see sold. They have the bar underneath as a cutting edge. The teeth reach around the bucket from that bar and hook over the edge of the bucket edge, on top. Notice the number writing on the teeth upside down.

I understand what you’re saying. This link shows the same bar assembled and welded instead of a diy kit. www.palletforks.com/skid-steers/bucket-and-accessories/48-inch-bucket-23tf-tooth-bar/126501.html It’s designed to go in the bucket as opposed to under. I’ve had no issues with it inside the bucket. Having the teeth definitely makes a difference!!

Looks good. Pre-heat is usually to slow the cooling of the metal after welding. This is to help to eliminate cracking. It will help also when welding dissimilar metals. I have to do this one day to a grapple bucket I have.

Oby-1 thanks. Yes. Hooks are always handy! I added one to my backhoe bucket. I have to upload the video. But same principle. Preheat and weld. Simple.

Really awesome video ...very impressed .... I'm unsure if this kit will work on my kioti ...what is the distance from the edge or your bucket to where the flat stock starts...unsure if my welds on my bucket will in the way sitting my flatstock on a hump of weld from bucket edge.

The distance from the front edge of my cutting edge on the bucket to the flat stock is 2”. That can be adjusted slightly to fit your setup. Worst case would be to grind the welds smooth with the bucket surface. They wear down from use anyways and structurally an extra lump of weld above the surface really doesn’t gain you much.

How much more effective is this breaking up rocky soil? Hace you dealt with any big rocks 24" plus?

Having a toothbar tears thru rocky ground. Where I live is nothing but rocks. I helped a friend clear the rocks that were put down to prep their driveway for the heavy triaxles. The 6” rocks were buried and packed. Having the toothbar just ripped them right up. I’ve dug up boulders as big as my bucket and we’re heavier than what I could lift. It wasn’t easy getting some of the big boulders out but the toothbar made it a little easier. I also have a ripping bar attachment I use on the rear 3pt hitch that is a good tool to have when ripping up roots and large boulders.

What kit did you purchase? And how hard is it to remove? I have a Kubota B3300SU.

I bought the kit thru Amazon (where else?) sold by Titan Attachments. It’s called Titan Attachments 72” Custom Toothbar Kit w/6 23TF Teeth & Shanks Skid Steer DIY. The plate they send is long enough to fit inside a 6ft bucket. I just had to shorten it down for my 4ft bucket. It’s easy to take off when it’s clean of course. If you use it and don’t clean the packed on dirt and mud off it’s a little harder to shake of with just shaking the bucket in the dump position. That’s when I break out the big hammer and digging bar. Taking the bolts out and putting them in is easy if you have an impact gun. To help in removing a stubborn toothbar I might try attaching a chain around something solid (a tree?) and connect it to the bar and back the tractor away slowly. Maybe I’ll try it next time it’s stuck on and make a video... all in all I love it! I can put it on in 15 min and taking it off even when it’s stuck takes less than 30 min.

Just remember to preheat and remove the mill scale. I haven’t broken any of the teeth or any part of the bar and I’ve been tearing up all sorts of rocks and boulders. Take your time and do it right the first time! Good luck!

I would like to see you dig some fresh ground, or some with sod. How much difference did it make? You really need to use some volume leveling on your video. The tractor and grinding are super loud, and then you cannot hear you speaking. Your helper needs to hold still too. Otherwise good technical content and job putting it together.

Court thanks for the comments. As you’d expect breaking ground on untouched surfaces is a little more work than a pile of dirt. I was thinking I should have shown digging fresh ground after making this video. But I wasn’t ready to tear up my yard yet. Since this video I’ve cleared a whole lot of areas. I will get a video showing that scenario. I can honestly say the teeth make a world of a difference! Breaking ground without it is like trying to slice bread with a butter knife. And yeah my 12 yo youtuber son needs to practice his steady shots! Lol. Thanks again and I’ll get some more vids and mods up soon!

Kay P hahaha! I was waiting for someone to catch that. I have all that fancy welding protective gear. Sorry my home workshop isn’t osha regulated. I prefer to be comfortable when working. But thanks for noticing my fashion statement. Hopefully you got something informative from the purpose of this video.
