The 20701/20702 Secunderabad - Tirupati Vande Bharat Express is India's 12th Vande Bharat Express train, connecting the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
This train is operated by Indian Railways, connecting Secunderabad Jn, Nalgonda, Guntur Jn, Ongole, Nellore and Tirupati. This is One of the Most Successful Vande Bharat. It is currently operated with train numbers 20701/20702 on 6 days a week basis. The train was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8 April 2023.
It is the tenth 2nd Generation and the first train to be converted from a Mini Vande Bharat 2.0 Express train to a Vande Bharat Express 2.0 train (due to high demand and occupancy rate, it has been converted from 8-coach rake to 16-coach rake) which was designed and manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) at Perambur, Chennai under the Make in India initiative. The 20701/20702 Secunderabad - Tirupati Vande Bharat Express currently has 14 AC Chair Car and 2 Executive Chair Cars coaches.
The 20701/20702 Secunderabad - Tirupati Vande Bharat Express will operate 6 days a week, covering a distance of 662 km (411 mi) in a travel time of 8 hrs 15 mins with average speed of 80 km/h. The Maximum Permissible Speed (MPS) is 130 km/h.

The Vande Bharat Express is a medium-distance train service operated by Indian Railways. Similar to Shatabdi Express, these are day train services that connect Indian cities which are less than 10 hours apart. Vande Bharat trainsets can achieve semi-high speeds, but due to speed restrictions, multiple stoppages and traffic congestion, the maximum permissible speed of the services are limited to 160 km/h (99 mph) on a section of the Delhi-Bhopal service, and 110-130 km/h (68-81 mph) on other services.
The trains have achieved 183 km/h during trials which is higher than the certified speed of 160 km/h. A notable feature of the train is its faster acceleration and deceleration, because of which it can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 52 seconds during trial.
The trainset, then known as Train 18, was designed by the RDSO and manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF).The specifications were also standardised by the RDSO.[10] It was made for low-cost maintenance and operational optimisation. The cost of a 16-coach Vande Bharat train is about ₹115 crore (US$14 million).
On 27 January 2019, the services using Train 18 sets were named Vande Bharat Express with the first service commencing on 15 February 2019.
Train 18 was renamed as 'Vande Bharat' as an acknowledgement for the fact that it was completely built in India by the Indian engineers and the services were thus named 'Vande Bharat Express'.
On 15 February 2019, the first Vande Bharat Express between New Delhi and Varanasi was flagged off at the New Delhi railway station by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The train ran from New Delhi to Varanasi via Kanpur and Prayagraj, connecting Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi to the capital city and reduced the existing travel time along the route by 15%. The 8-hour journey from New Delhi to Varanasi station covered a total distance of 762 km (473 mi) between the two cities. However, while returning from Varanasi, the train broke down due to a cattle run over. According to reports, four cars of the train experienced an electrical outage and the brakes were reported to be jammed as the train was halted for over an hour at Tundla Junction railway station before resumption. Later in the year, the second Vande Bharat service was launched between New Delhi and Katra, it is one of the only two first version trainsets of Vande Bharat Express.
