Tire prep basics - Part 1

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

As promised, I am going to talk a bit about the very important subject of tire prep. I’ve decided to divide this subject into two videos, for the reason that, most big events worldwide today are run with a spec additive rule, which limits the opportunity to “play” with tire prep. And thus, I will make separate video, to be released next week, which offers some guidelines for events where there is an “open additive” rule. Today, I’m going to share some basics for racing where there is a spec additive rule. Enjoy!
The tire additive featured in this video is the HUDY Tire Gripper Red. A very strong additive which works well on both carpet and asphalt. Part number 106261.

    Hello, I just ordered the HUDY red gripper and plan to run on low traction asphalt, is this a Oil bar traction compound, than you

    The Red one is a carpet additive (not oil based). For asphalt, I recommend the HUDY Asphalt additive, part number 106262.

    How can we reduce “ring of death”?

  • @hagberg

    @hagberg

    2 ай бұрын

    There's not a whole lot you can do which will help. If the tire is soft enough, and racing speeds are high enough, there will be inevitable tire wear. But, if your main goal is to try and reduce/delay the ring of death, try looking into the following solutions: Lower roll center Softer springs and/or shock oil Less camber gain, especially in front Less static camber More chassis flex Less aggressive tire additive (more oil content) Less tire warming Shorter additive timing

    @@hagberg Thanks for info. Will try it out. Currently get around 25 packs before it got torn on Rush 36X at SACC track KL. Running 13.5 blinky with FDR 3.7x. Camber -1. 😁

    ROD not visible anymore after lowering roll center, traction compound and tire warming 🤣 camber set back to -2..
