SIMPLE TUNING - Track width & hexes

In this 2nd video of the series, I talk about track width & hexes! I explain how widening or narrowing the car affects the handling. I also talk about the difference between changing the track width with the wheel hexes vs. with the suspension inserts!

its a realy good video, is there any chance you can make a video with regards to running a 200mm track width and 200mm body vs the standard 190mm as it would be interesting to see how comparable the laptimes are. the question is weather the increased mechanical grip through cornering will offset the increased drag on straight line speed from the car body due to the larger cross section.

Hi Alex, thank you for the video, very well made as usual. But you forget to mention that a big part in changing the behavior of the car is not related to the width itself, but the change of the scrub radius when you change hexes, especially for the front where you have the axle that does two functions: steering and pulling the car. So, for this reason, using suspension inserts generate a different behavior because you do not change scrub radius. Following the other video...

Could you explain what the difference in the handling that widening using the inserts has?

May I ask if I narrow the car q.5 mm front and rear with insert, is it good for low traction to get more steering and response? What is the down side?

Do you never play with widening or narrowing the car on all 4 tires? Wouldn't this be an easy way to adjust tire loads dependent on grip conditions (especially on asphalt where grip varies a lot)? The narrower the car, the more load on the outer tire. But the wider the car, the more balanced are the tire loads and the cornering speed should be higher. Do you have any experience with such an approach, i.e., narrowing/widening the whole car?

I am just wonder now x4 has narrow hexes I believe it has to be with longer arm the NEW modern car with longer arm are very stable so they to narrow hexes of the car in order to make traction. this modern car in low grip needs be a little narrow to make traction in this condition other waise the car wont be fast narrow car are very response also it afect the way the car roll. a narrow will roll more and will make more traction some it csn benefict for a very low traction condition
