Tipu Sultan, known as the dreaded 'Tiger of Mysore', was a legend during his lifetime and is still regarded as an enlightened ruler in India. During the late eighteenth century he bitterly and effectively opposed British rule in southern India, posing a grave threat to the East India Company. It took almost forty years, and most of the Company's resources, before Mysore was added to the areas of British-ruled India.

A lot of people don't know that tipu sultan had French generals who had orderd tipu sultan to leave his palace and exit thru a secret passageway but tipu said to his French general one of his most famous quotes which was " it better to live one day like a lion then a 1000 years as a jagal tipu then picked up his sword and fought the British untill he died when the British generals entered the palace they were shocked to find tipu sultan dead they thought he would run away may Allah give him jannah

For me The Tipu Sultan is still living legend who preferred to fight bravely against the British Army and never thought of falling back. The real son of the soul and tiger of Bharat. He never forced the other communities to embrace Islam.

Doesn't matter how you change the history and over glorify other kings according to their faith. This tiger died in battlefield and chose death instead of surrendering. The brave king picked up his sword and lost everything even his descendants are living in poverty. And those who shook their hand and scratch the British balls still have their royal palaces and properties.

This is Kannur Disteict..later he got a kick from a warrior and return back to his mysore.. This great kick with a sword was received while he was about to attack Trvancore.. Then he became cripple.. 216 years ago the last hurdle in the path of Britons was removed. Tiger of Mysore Sultan Fateh Ali (Tipu) took his stand, unfortunately Marathas (Hindus) & Nizam (Muslim) sided with the Britons, including a traitor from his family (Mir Sadiq). Sultan died leading his troops. After his demise, foreigners defeated Marathas, and Sikhs. (Nizams remained a coward all the way until 1948). Indians revolted once more in 1857 to be crushed again (without the help of Indian traitors this would not have been possible).

Marathas were also very strong against British.Marathas fought hundreds of battles against Brits and won around 95% of them.But unfortunatrly due to weak leadership of Bajirao-2 they lost third war against Brits.And idiot Bajirao handed over the Maratha territory( which was the most largest empire covering an area of around 21 states of today's India ) to Brits just because he was faced with a small.defeat.

Tipu surrendered his two sons before the Maratha army to free himself when the latter rounded up him at Srirangapattanam. Have anyone ever heard of a tiger surrendering its cubs to secure its own safety? He was only a paper tiger, a coward nomber one.

That British artillery was amazing - fired at near flat trajectory, the shells somehow turned and struck the ground vertically, producing big puffs of smoke with virtually no effect on nearby soldiers and zero effect on the horses. No wonder they lost.

Yes but look at the date. That was back in the 1980s in a much more secular, accepting india. Look at it now, so intolerant towards muslims.
