    If there's something I'd like to add is buy great rod like really great ajing tuned rods before anything else. The reels can be cheap or not that cheap but not overly expensive. Felt drag is always good... Vanford is great but legalis (jdm) does really work well though a cheaper option. Lines are also very very important! If the rod it your arm then the line is the nerve so get great lines I personally use YGK over pinky... For lures just mix & match with what is available since it differs especially the location & techniques used. For reels it doesn't have to be 2kg max or 3kg max as long as it is 2000 series and below and has a felt drag and a shallow spool. If you are to find 2kg or 3kg max drag reels then it's going to be pricey. Current set-up: Apia Grandage 68/5 Shimano vanquish 23 1000SSSPG Ygk Dpet 1.3lb Varivas light game shock leader 3lb For lures I usually use 1g -1.5g and a variety of JH and softplastics

    Solid tip rods tend to break easily but without a doubt it is extremely sensitive.

    Insightful content!! Though I have a question. Is it possible to use Baitcasting reel? Specifically BFS reel...

  • @jbl.fishing

    Hey, sorry for the late reply. Well, it all depends where you will be fishing. Ajing and BFS are very different styles, though there is no official right or wrong. In fact, there are people who do Ajing with BFS reels but my personal favorite will be to use an Ajing spinning setup as I can get more distance and am more comfortable around such a setup.

    Hey bro, I just got a new reel for ajing and spooled it with aji no ito 3lbs. I heard that polyester lines tend to undo themselves and tangle upon first few casts due to their high memory. How do I season my line to make it not do that?

  • @jbl.fishing

    @jbl.fishing

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hello, so sorry for the delayed reply! Ok yes it’s true what you heard. What I’ve been advice before & has been my personal practice is to, leave the line in the reel for about 24 to 48hrs after spooling up. This will ensure the line has memorised your reel shape & will “season” it to your reel, preventing (but not 100%) windknots or tangles.

    Bro, how to do Ajing when it's quite windy? I tried throwing 1.5 to 2.5 g jigheads with 0.4 PE + 1.5 FC on a max 10g Ajing rod. I couldn't throw far and the jighead went all kind of direction.

  • @jbl.fishing

    Ahh, in such conditions, I will wait for pockets where the wind dies down to cast.

    Hey bro, I have a daiwa revros rr 2000 spooled with 240m of aji no ito 3lbs. But due to many tangles, I’ve lost so much line to the point I can see the colour of the spool through the line. I’m not sure how much line I lost exactly but I would guess 60m+. Should I respool more line or will I be fine?

  • @jbl.fishing

    @jbl.fishing

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hello!! If you’re guessing 60m+, I’d recommend re-spooling. Once tangles & windknots happen, the line reliability & integrity is also gone as it will tend to snap much more easily. Moreover, in UL category of fishing, you never know when the biggie’s gonna bite, hence, I’d advice you to spool a new roll of Aji No Ito onto your revros rr again :)

  • @jbl.fishing

    @jbl.fishing

    Alternatively, you can try out braided line/pe line for Ajing which will enable you to be prepared for that “biggie” that might come :) I personally recommend Dr Braid 4lb which you can purchase from TROF Fishing (search em up on Facebook/Instagram). Or, you can go and get some Japanese PE 0.4 or 0.6 Lines from Shimano. I personally recommend the Tanatoru or the Sephia ranges😃

    Can I use a 2500 reel with mono line instead?

  • @jbl.fishing

    @jbl.fishing

    2 жыл бұрын

    2500 reels have a deeper spool profile. accomodates more line but then again, if you purchase 200m of Ester line, it’s gonna be severely underfilled. I don’t recommend backing as well. I would not recommend Monofilament as the stretch is way higher than Ester. this stretch causes you to lose sensitivity. i recommend either PE0.4 line or 2.3lb 34 Pinky as starters

Knots wise I use something called the Pinky Knot. When u buy ur stuff at Light Salt Game, Uncle Michael will show it to u! 3. No. Ajing can be done in the night with proper presentations and more alertness!🤙🏽
