my biggest problem when working with watercolors is that i am too impatient. i should wait for it to dry but i just want to continue adding more colors, and then they bleed into each other. what do you do? do you just wait and let it air dry? or do you not use a lot of water so that it dries faster?

i use a heat gun to dry layers when i need to. Theyre like 20 bucks on amazon, you can also use a hair dryer but a heat gun is more concentrated and doesn't blow as much. Check out Danica Sills on youtube, she also uses a heatgun

Heat gun or hair dryer. Patience is a great skill that watercolors force you to learn though. So you can always try forcing yourself to wait.

like everyone already suggested I use a hairdryer! :D I just edited those clips out haha I'm super impatient as well XD

What I usually do is work on more than one painting, or doodle when I wait for the painting to dry. My cat is scared of the hair dryer, so it's not an option lol.

Super late, but one thing I could recommend is working on a separate part of the painting while another part dries. That's how I paint, and I'm super impatient as well.
This is the kind of video I have been looking for all day, where someone show and talk about the sketchingstage in simple words not focusing only on anatomical references only stating that it is important and talking insted of the process, truly educational and well executed, well done and thank you so much for sharing! 😊
This is very helpful. I’ve learnt a lot. Thank you, Chris! Would you do more simple watercolor portraits like this? Love the soft feeling of this painting.

It would be helpful (to me) to know what pigments you are using. That's what I'm having trouble with right now.
I don't like studies.. But seeing you do it. It makes me want to do it.

USEFUL
Beautiful n nice,,, love it. stay connected
How many times would you say you let a layer dry before applying a new one?
What size brushes do you use?
subscribed!
I love your process of painting, but how do you get such accurate colours for the shadows, skin, hair, etc?
@bluj8566
5 жыл бұрын
A little late but for accuracy, I do swatches. Your selection improves over time too.
I wanna cry it’s so hard
You can also got from dark to light. There was an artist who worked this way and it looked phenomenal. Can't remember the artist's name though.
What pencil u use here?
the problem with me is i dont want it to be anything different from my reference which is definetely very bad so i am trying to work on that. thanks for the video!
I love you ❤️💕😘
How long does it take you to watercolor in that size?
@ChrisHongArt
6 жыл бұрын
up to 3 hours :) well sometimes more if it has much more details!
How long does this take
PLEASE TELL ME WHICH TYPE OF PAGE YOU USE PLEASE BECAUSE MINE ALWAYS GET WET AND DAMAGED PLEASE TELL ME ❤❤🥺🥺
the problem for me is that the watercolour dries almost the moment i put it down, even when i use a lot of water. am i using the wrong kind of watercolours, or is it the paper, or is it me? it must be me, or is it?
hola amgios
Very helpful and an excellent result but please drop the annoying 'music'.
